    I love my Khaki Field, just an all round functional and simple watch. I get asked about it quite a lot and it’s great to talk about the watch’s historical origins.
    If you’re after a watch that tells the time and you can just slap on every day, can’t go wrong with this watch. The nato straps wear down eventually but I do wear it everyday.

    got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on MaMaCoo 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.

    I have been wanting a bronze watch for a while, but didn't love the black dial. When I saw the white dial I immediately ordered. I wasn't sure I would love the 38mm as 39 is generally the smallest I will buy a non-diver. And I generally prefer an automatic, but I really like how slim the manual wind is. I went from "not sure" to in love the minute it hit my wrist.

    I love my old Khaki mechanical black dial, great readability at a glance and the supplied NATO strap is great. A good point for the daily wind as it keeps that connection between wearer and the watch. I'd guess the disparity in water resistance is down to the manual winding with friction with the seals where an automatic requires less winding hence less wear, just a thought. These new options are a great and certainly worth a look, for me the bronze would be my preference to try.

  • @RovePaths
    @RovePaths 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hamilton and Marathon were my 2 top brands until I found Momentum. I picked up the 38mm Atlas Eclipse today and it is fantastic. Sapphire, solar, titanium and 100m for half the cost of a Marathon Officer GPQ (which doesn't have solar or titanium). As much as people go on about accuracy in mechanical watches they just aren't accurate at all in comparison to quartz/solar. I completely understand why people (me included) like mechanical, self-powered internals. The Atlas is truly a set & forget but, you'll never forget that you have a watch to rely on.

    I like this type of watch. I own an automatic, and it wears well on the wrist. Lume does not bother me at all; I couldn't care less if all my watches had no lume. I think Lume is overrated. If you really need to see your watch at night, buy an Indglo or tritium-based timepiece and be done.

    Hi Teddy,
    What is your thought about taking these watches in the water. Also, bronze is a metal that many of us like to play with the patina and that involves submerging it in solutions. I know they do not have screw down crowns. Is that something that would prohibit use in water? Great video, and thanks in advance for your thoughts.

    • @dustycups
      @dustycups 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Screw down crowns don't increase water resistance, they just lessen the chance of the crown being snagged and popped out. These watches are probably limited to 50m because of the crystal and caseback interfaces with the case, a legacy of their cheap mass produced military design. It'll be fine in water so long as the seals are periodically checked and replaced. Once they start to age after a few years (or regular exposure to water/chemicals/soap) it starts to become a gamble whether they'll fail or not. Not sure what sort of solutions you'll be placing it into but it's worth checking how it will affect rubber seals and the silicone grease that lubricates them.

    Whatever youtubers say this is not a small watch, this is mid sized and wears almost like a 40mm. Hamilton needs to bring back the smaller khaki, the models before this used to be 34mm and with the long lugs it wore perfect. Maybe not do that anymore but 36 mm should be easily possible since the movement has a big spacer right now.

      I've only recently started paying extra attention to my khaki auto's accuracy. so far, in the middle of the day sometimes it gains like 10-15secs, but by the end of the day it cancels out and we're back to +/- 1 sec area. It varies throughout the day, but if you track it on a 24h period it's extremely accurate. I also noticed that leaving it ticking in the box makes it lose more time than when being worn daily, so it depends on the position of the movement. Overall, a very solid watch that punches way above it's league to be honest. I still think I made the best choice for my first automatic watch under 1k euros (from an AD, not talking about grey market stuff).

  • @BAF605
    @BAF605 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Just before the Swatch group changed the movements you could buy the mechanical for less than $200 and the auto for around $300. I thought they were a bargain and overbought some models. I've since sold them on for good profits, keeping four variations of the 4Hz powered models for my collection.

    Why are youtubers hyping this model and discarding the newer model "expedition"? This model is so bad for the following reasons:
    - it's only 50m water resistance, so u cant swim with this
    - No screw down crown
    - no AR coating
    - very busy dial, bad for legibility.
    - not automatic, you have to wind it
    all the above was fixed in the expedition model. What am I missing?

    • @dustycups
      @dustycups 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Valid points but manual wind watches and screw down crowns don't match if the movement doesn't have a clutch to prevent overwinding. This Hamilton doesn't have that, so if you fully wind the movement you won't be able to screw in the crown. Not to mention the extra risk of cross threading and wearing out the threads prematurely, and the fact that screw down crowns don't in themselves add to water resistance. I agree though about the dial, it's cluttered and stupid with the extra 24 hour numerals, it was designed to cater for the lowest common denominator low IQ soldier who couldn't learn 24 hour time.

You have a yacht and a beach house in Tuscany, of course that replica is real. There isn't a millionaire out there going around with a jeweller's loupe to scrutinize their acquaintance's watch.

    Never buy this mechanical one. The balance spring breaks within or after a year. Always. Don't waste money on this

    So sick of the same 10 watches over and over and over on every watch channel.
    It's just feels like paid sponsorship at this point.

      you're expecting watch channels to not cover new models from a popular watch line provided by a popular brand just for you to not feel bored of the repetition?

      @gillaliglaou2840 "New models". Yeah that's what they do. Never heard of the khaki field before.

    I bought a watch from amzwatch lightly used for my last milestone birthday. Don't wear it as much as it deserves, but not afraid to, either. It's stunning . Good taste, Sir.

    amzwatch You are so well-informed about luxury watches. You've obviously done your due diligence and the comparison to the US is very informative...because of course, I live in New York. thank you very much
