Using the 'side by side' maps on the National Library of Scotland website you can see the difference between how it is now compared to before all that land was reclaimed. I hadn't realised that was the case! I might have mentioned it before, but I learnt to drive on New Brighton promenade. Up and down all day with my dad on my 17th birthday! They used to close it for motor sport events years ago, I'm not sure if that still happens or not. The boating lake used to be great as well, my son even sailed a 'Star Yacht' made in Birkenhead on that 'lake'
