Super easy to work on, amazing parts availability (volvo still make parts for older models), and both cheaper to repair and more reliable than BMWs. The N/A i4 models are a bit underpowered, but they can often be picked up so cheaply that an engine swap might be within your budget if you're not getting a BMW. If you're in Sweden, were most Nissan sports cars are somewhat rare, old Volvos are what I'd recommend. Many also came with an LSD out of the box, since Nordic winters with an open diff might be less than ideal.

I hope showing the z31 was a mistake, as sitting at 2880lbs (base model zenki) with a great weight distribution wouldn't count as "not being nimble" in my book. Kept up with AE86's (AE88's if your a nerd) at autocross events with my only mod being Firehawk Indy 500s, as well as people like 300zxheadass on TH-cam doing insane drifting in his local scene
These cars are great beginner platforms, 4 grand gets you a solid base model example, the after market is surprisingly well off, the community is small but tight and supportive,, and I have a quarter million miles on my stock VG30E
    Can't vouch for z32s though

G35 is one of the best drift platforms. Infinite aftermarket support, low entry cost, and they excel at going sideways. The FC RX-7 is a great affordable platform if you know your rotaries. The 300zx is a fair point though.

My NA FC RX7, with rear steer delete, FA coilovers, and a bride seat was a solid drift car. I would drive it to an event, drift it, and drive back home with 0 issues. Only retired it from drifting because parts are getting expensive and harder to find.

Z32 300zx's have a cramped engine bay, Z31's do not. The Z31 isn't really heavy tho so much as suspension geometry is effed. They were designed for endurance and comfort after all, and have much more in common with the 280zx and S12 200sx than any of the newer Z's. The aftermarket support for Z31's has never been more active and new mods are coming online all the time but they still suffer from a severe lack of options. The toughest part is just the failing electronics tho.

My z32 has 290k mi, daily it to this day, looks like it has 100,000 miles on it, people constantly think its a 20,000$+ car based off its condition, but more like 2,500$. Super reliable car though, I drive it 3 hours away, to the drift track, hit 20 laps initiating drifts at 3rd gear at 50-60 mph, then drive back home, no issues. As long as you take care of it, and maintain it, these things are beastly reliable, but also beastly to work on though. Super hard car to keep drifting though, the steering angle is shit, and its super heavy, I give kudos to anyone drifitng one with stock LSD and stock steering angle, like mine, it aint easy.
