Head tracking does add a totally new dimension to the game, I have tried many different tracking solutions where most of them have failed to one degree or other. First was TrackIR, worked great as long as there was no sunshine, but the camera just gave up the ghost one day and the entire system stoped working. After reading about others with the same issues I did not want to go back to it. Then I tried Tobii Eye Tracker 5, and for me this did not work well at all. It lost tracking all the time and even when it was working there was an annoyingly noticable input lag that made the ingame and out of game movements desyched. Tobii may work for many, but for me it was a complete bust. I then tried a tracking software on my phone, but It had tracking issues as well as input lag as well, so nope, not for me. Right now I am using Monkey King Puck, and so far it has worked great. A 240Hz camera pretty much makes it so that I don't feel any kind of input lag at all. Movements are precise and crisp. It did take some time to get the curves right in Open Track, but after that it has worked great for me.
Now this seems really cool. I've been using TrackIR5 for over a decade now and this seems like a pretty good upgrade. It would sure be nice to ditch all the wires strapped to my head!
Honestly having to have wires or something else strapped to my headset was a big barrier for me trying TrackIR. The Tobii is definitely a recommend from me :)
Picked up one of these bad boys on Black Friday discount as well as some bob sticks and mounts. Still waiting on the mounts but I’m refusing to play the game until I get the whole updated setup together. So pumped
It's so much fun. Looking around while flying with sticks makes you feel like you're really in a spaceship cockpit. Now I just need a Gforce simulator 😂
Anytime :) if it helps I was flying the San Tok, and was using the morozov helmet. I do know that the overlay doesn't come up if I'm not wearing a helmet for sure!
A huge difference would likely be the eye tracking, as well as low light performance. I have heard of some folks using a Webcam to mixed results so try it out for your use case :)
Hahaha I do have sticks but ended up bouncing off of them myself. I completely get how other people love them though! Maybe I just need more time with them :)
What’s the point of investing hundreds into decent sticks when the game isn’t even near finished yet? Hell, even the flight model isn’t finished m, and when you get in depth with it, you realize how shallow it is.
This is such a bad take, what inputs you use to play a game doesn’t remotely affect the immersion while playing it, yes, it can ‘enhance’ it further but the immersion comes from the experience of the game primarily
@@JuneDogggthe inputs you use highly affect the level of immersion. Having dual sticks that are moving in the same way as your ships sticks animations are moving is pretty fun and way more immersive than trying to make the mouse work like a joystick.

I was just typing a question about a dark room with glass when you answered it.
Hahaha glad I could help :) let me know if you want me to test anything!

Thanks for the great video, very informative !
So glad you found it useful :)
Awesome video! I LOVE my Tobii Eye Tracker 5!!!
Appreciate it! It's completely changed the day to day play experience for me! :D
They need to add billboards that state "distractions kill" like they do on some freeways around the world.
Sick video... Your quality is close to Morphologis. Also I have had a Tobi 5 for a year now a LOVE IT
Wow that's a huge compliment, thank you so much! Personally I was super surprised at how easy it was to get used to
Yeah, love me Tobii, however, the jitter, which is all too common, is so annoying.
Would love to see your settings.

Hell yeah! You're going to love it for sure. Insane how great the immersion can get. OLED monitor has to be next 👀
I love using my Tobie eye tracker
Glad to hear it!
Throughout this video i see you have a HUD overlay of self-status and target status. What settings do i need to turn on to get that overlay?
I belive any closed helmet will now grant you those overlays! I didn't enable any specific setting but I think it came with 3.21 :)
Interesting. I've been playing this daily and these overlays don't show up when I'm playing. I'll look into it more thank you@@Space-Tech

we can use a normal webcan or Leap Motion?

Works fine on a 49" 5120x1440 monitor
That's great to hear! SC must look incredible with that FOV!
Does this also work for people that wear glasses?
Yup! I wear glasses and it works perfectly out the box
i have a question for anyone who has an eyetracker, does it feel natural?
Was pick up and play for me. Took me about a half hour to get all the settings the way I like, after that I don't even have to think about using it :)
Why not just make it VR?
VR is at the very top of my list of features after the game is done!
Seems odd to talk about immersion while flying m+k… well spoken though.

@@Uaenehard disagree. I fly with head tracking and dual sticks and it's the most immersive game I've ever played. Tons of fun.
