@@Jj-bh1tvyes! I feel like Jonny gets all the credit musically and nobody acknowledges that Thom Yorke is one of the greatest songwriters of all time.
I was in a psychiatric hospital early this year... I remember looking out through the single pane glass window. I was looking into the car park. It was a sunny day... this song kinda reminds me of all that...
If I heard this play at a fine dining restaurant, I would stop immediately in the middle of my meal to watch the pianist play. Thanks for this, it made my day.
There is a beautiful sense of defeat within this song. A funeral march to victory and freedom. A realization of doom beyond one's control. It's as if you see death, maybe even your death, but you've come to embrace it, but only because of its inevitable arrival. You deserve it, you want it, and yet you don't want to fully give in, because it's your nature to fight it, even though you know it's futile. Gratitude rises within your soul, for the time that you've had, even for the regrettable time you've wasted; you kiss yourself good-bye, if one can grasp the concept..and as the shadows fall upon your face, you still feel the faint, yet still existent warmth of the sun upon your neck. It is the sunset of your time here, and it's crashing into the horizon..at the speed of life.
For the past 5 years, I sometimes come back here while working, I love all of the RadioHead covers, but this one is by far my favorite, can't explain why. So talented.
This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen and heard in my entire life. There is so much beauty and elegance contained between your fingers and those keys. It is true Radiohead created this masterpiece but you have made it revolutionary and beyond perfect through this rendition. Let your mind and hands never lose that taste in music. This is more than I can take. Absolutely beautiful.
+Bayrem Lahmer I love that baseline too. I love the baseline in the third verse of No Surprises. He harmonises Thom's melody. Have a listen if you haven't heard it yet. Only does it once throughout the song.
Verse 1] Karma police, arrest this man, he talks in maths He buzzes like a fridge, he's like a detuned radio [Verse 2] Karma police, arrest this girl, her Hitler hairdo Is making me feel ill and we have crashed her party [Chorus] This is what you get This is what you get This is what you get When you mess with us Verse 3] Karma police, I've given all I can, it's not enough I've given all I can, but we're still on the payroll [Chorus] This is what you get This is what you get This is what you get When you mess with us [Outro] For a minute there I lost myself, I lost myself Phew, for a minute there I lost myself, I lost myself For a minute there I lost myself, I lost myself Phew, for a minute there I lost myself, I lost myself
I transcended into Thom Yorke's supernatural realm after listening to this absolutely mind blowing masterpiece. You're a class act. Keep up the good work.
This is probably the best video I have ever seen on TH-cam! The arrangement is amazing: that hidden note in 3:27 gave me serious goosebumps, and that ending just blew my mind out!
I like that you show the music being played, its a beautiful piano and adds authenticity to the performance, something to watch happen. Excellent channel.

It's incredible how you keep the integrity of all these songs and are still able to expand upon and make them your own. It's like your talking to the same part of me that was able to find so much meaning in the originals. It's a really incredible human connection. Keep it up!
Exactly! I love some of the other songs where he's created an intro that builds into the original music, which is gorgeous on its own, and then those few familiar notes start to tickle your ear, and that moment is just magic.
Really nice cover! Since this quarantine started, i start listening Radiohead albums and covers, and by far, your piano covers are the best! Greetings from Argentina
Just been learning this from your songbook and coming back to this for reference. I love it so much. I’m gonna get it down. Thanks for such a fantastic performance and fantastic book
The majority of my media consumption is via TH-cam, and one of my favorite searches is piano/bass/etc covers. This comes damn close to transcending the original and Radiohead is one of my top 10 favorite bands
DUDE! i know this is a late comment to an old post but i just discovered this for the first time and your piano skills to rendition this song are on point, clicks with the fiber of my being.
Love this song so much, might even be my all-time favorite Radiohead song. It's an emotional journey from start to finish and you really captured that in your rendition. My favorite part is the chorus after 3:30 and you played it wonderfully. As Maynard James Keenan once said on the tital track to Tool's 3rd album "Keep going" (among many other words from that song) Cheers from Sweden!
I´ve never been so in love until i found your channel and all your radiohead covers. All your videos have made me want to play the piano again and ahhh THIS IS ART.
this arrangement is art, this is art. I listen a lot of cover but this is definitely the best. Josh you emozioned me, and I guess I'm not the only one this has happened to. I really like this , I can hear your heart, your emotions, the love you have for music. Keep it up💗
Simply beautiful and i like how you added to make it sound more melodic, or so it seems? Hense a "real" cover with your style :).. My ears are thanking you Mr. Josh Cohen.. Cheers

for a minute there, I lost myself
I see what you did there, there.
ahh panic
You mean for 5 minutes and 58 seconds, I lost myself
This is what you get
Isaiah Hopkins for the rest of my life I lost myself
I want to give this guy a virtual hug.
More hugs..
me too ^^
Me too
@@joshcohenmusic #Metuu. LOVE your stuff!
Not enough.. He deserves more
Taking nothing away from the arrangement or musician, but this gives you an insight into how genius Radiohead's music really is.
It's pretty incredible. Makes it so easy to arrange the tunes when you have so much to work with.
I agree
More specifically---how genius Yorke is
Usually hearing covers in piano gives you more perspective about the complexity of songs, that why radiohead on piano sounds so good

I was also in the psych ward this year. I have a very similar memory. Hope you are doing well
@@elises8825 Thank you. I've been lucky enough to have found good friends. Things are getting better. I hope things are better for you too x
The c part here (3:30) is the most exciting part in this whole amazing rendition. it never fails to amaze me . Great job Josh
agreed
I love how easy it is to let yourself sing along with your covers
Thanks very much, that's really nice to hear!
Eres chileno?
Haha I was just in the middle of singing myself!
(although I can't sing)
I love radiohead and now I love you too
I love you too.
I don't understand how you can be that good! Simply beautiful.
I have played a lot of notes..
please teach me to play a lot of notes
Practice 30 mins a day until you are at that point then an hour a day. then 2. it just takes patents determination and GRIT
How old were you when you started?
If you can play it slowly, you can play it quickly
The way you even did the distorted fadeout part with a piano... amazing
This made me breakdown in tears. I'm sorry to anyone I've ever hurt.
If I heard this play at a fine dining restaurant, I would stop immediately in the middle of my meal to watch the pianist play. Thanks for this, it made my day.
I RARELY EVER hear any covers of this song BUT THIS IS SO GOOD THANK GOD FOR THIS
Glad you enjoyed it 😄

thats a good way of putting it my friend
when you listen to just the piano sure, not with the lyrics tho lol
That was deep. Really made me think. Great comment.
Shit this is so beautiful... that key change in the middle makes me go into euphoria
Thanks very much. Do you mean the key change in the chorus? If so, have you heard this? www.soundsjustlike.com/2704/radiohead-sounds-like-the-beatles/
The change starting from the "For a minute there I lost myself" 3:35 :) Wow yeah that Beatles song is so close haha Its that chord prog c d g f# lol
Yeah, interesting correlation, hey?
Keep up the cool covers man. Yes please do a Muse cover as the one guys mentioned haha. Hint - Butterflies And Hurricanes hehe ^^
Nice one, I'll add it to the list :-)

"This what you get, when you mess with us" hits harder for some reason
A song about overwork, stress and burnout. How many times can I relate to this!! Singing along is instant therapy.
Okay, I'm convinced now that Radiohead needs you in their band!
Amazing ! I was waiting for you to play the bass at the end and i wasn't disappointed, one of the greatest basslines ever.

+David MacDougall Which section?
Starting around 2:05, more so between 2:30 and 3:00, I love it! Makes it feel really intimate.
No, he isn't whistling, this are resonances from/in the piano.
Agreed, I can here a whistle like sound through out too!
