  • In this video, I demonstrate how to optimize a Ryzen 7800x3D on an ASUS motherboard without resorting to indirect overclocking methods like adjusting BCLK or voltage settings. I walk through the process step by step, showcasing the impact of each changed setting inside the BIOS. Additionally, I show you using the Precision Boost Overdrive option to undervolt the 7800x3D, resulting in improved multithreaded performance and a slight boost in single-core performance with minimal temperature increase and only a modest increase in power consumption, of under 10W. If you encounter system crashes when enabling PBO, adjusting the PBO curve setting may help. Start with a sign at about negative 10 or 15 and increase it by 5, monitoring your system's stability as you go. If your system shows unusual behavior, it may indicate the need for further adjustments on the curve.

Would i be able to safely do the methods in this video with an asus tuf b650 plus (flashed with latest bios update) , 7800x3d, 32gb 6000 cl30? thanks

I don't see any issues with doing the same as I do. If you want to do only one thing, then try to do it and set up the negative 30 sign on the PBO curve, because this gave me the most significant change in my CPU rendering performance while containing about the same temperatures and power consumption. If a negative 30 sign doesn't work stable for you, you could also try a negative 20 or 25.

Yo what is the maximum wattage the cpu consume?
    By oc and stock...
Because I see 120 w in the official page but no benchmark show more than 90

The power consumption of my 7800x3D also never exceeds around 90 watts, and it's the same for most others as well. There are lots of posts on this topic around the internet. I believe this is simply normal. I suspect it's due to the high temperatures these x3D CPUs can reach. Therefore, you would need a cooler with a minimum cooling capacity of about 120 watts to prevent overheating the CPU's L3 cache, which does get pretty Hot, even with an AIO.

Hey, don't you actually have to set Precision Boost Overdrive to Enabled? The menu before where you actually type the number for negative/positive

I personally have/let it set to its default "Auto" and only did my things inside the curve optimizer, which still works for about over half a year for me now.

If i want more stable one should I go to negative 40 or 20? And can I set 6000hz for my ddr5 ram because on the package it says 6000hz , also can it cause damage to my processor because I saw some reviews of burnt ryzen 7 7800x3d/

By increasing the negative sign in the PBO curve optimizer, you would likely experience more instabilities. Something I could suggest is starting at about 15 or 20 and seeing how your system runs. If it runs stable at a negative sign of 20, then you may consider trying 25 and 30. You can even try it at 35, but I think that's where it starts to get unstable. The worst thing that could happen is, that your PC crashes, and you have to revert the changes you've made before. And of course, you can set your RAM speed to 6000 MHz, as advertised. And the burnt 7800x3D's were caused by giving the CPU a too high voltage of over 1.3V, which starts to get very hot for the x3D temperature-sensitive L3 cache. But most of the motherboard manufacturers have already made and released several improvements to their BIOSes for this problem months ago, in which the voltage has been limited to not exceeding 1.3V, so the CPU doesn't overheat.
So, by changing something inside the PBO settings, your 7800x3D most likely won't get burned. For exple I'm running my 7800x3D since last year November (When i got it) like this, and i had not one bluescreen or crash caused by this setting. But there are some 7800x3D CPU's out there that may won't be able to sustain a negative sign of 30, which most likely have a worse qualuty silicon than on the one I have. If you have any further questions to this, you can simply ask them here.

The package value is irrelevant. I could buy a 6400mhz kit and overclock it to 8000mhz
Just update bios, won’t have to worry about any of the year old x3D burning issues
And yes am5 CPUs can do up to 6400/6600mhz stable, and ~8000 2:1

My Ryzen 7 7800x3d frequently drops below the base clock frequency of 4.2 ghz in games. It fluctuates between 3.2 ghz - 4.8 ghz. At times it just gets stuck at 4040mhz and would at times drop as low as 3.2ghz. I have tried playing with pbo and co, all it does is now the speeds fluctuate between 3.2ghz - 5ghz. I have reset my PC and installed fresh OS multiple times. After the first boot post reset the issue seems fixed but reappears after a restart. what might be the issue guys ? And how can I fix it ?

That seems good, max boost clock is 5.05 so boosting to 5 is as intended. The processor won’t stay at 5z because it doesnt need to work that hard at certain times, when it is needed it will boost that high like when doing a stress test

Maybe It's at this point most likely not possible depending on what you've already tried with the cooler in terms of mounting it on your CPU. There are some CPU's out there which do run hotter than other, or even consume a little bit more power and perform a bit worse than another 7800x3D, even tough it's the same CPU. But this is a totally normal behaving. If you are interested in this exact kind of topic, you can search up video of Gamers Nexus and Der8auer, who made some interesting comparisons between multiple times the same CPU. I think, as long as your CPU not overheating so that the CPU clocks down itself, everything should be fine.

    Hi Cubic,
    my CPU R7 7800x3d/ MB asrock b650 pro rs/ 1200W psu platinum/ cooler: Kraken AIO 360mm LCD.
my cpu only reach 4.8/4.9 ghz max , how can use the full potential of the CPU.
my PBO is -30 and still not near 5.0GHz :(
can you help me please? thankyou xd.

    • @cubicxmanu
      @cubicxmanu  หลายเดือนก่อน

Have you checked the CPU's clock speed during some gaming sessions? It is most likely to boost to, (in my case, 5.05Ghz with PBO, sign -30 and also at -35) while gaming. As you may have seen or still can see on my video, my CPU also only boosts to 4,9Ghz during the Cinebench R23 test run. And you will most likely only notice a difference in multithreaded workload and rendering by applying the PBO sign on to the CPU, and just a little as I know in terms of gaming, as I noticed. Maybe I can make a more detailed video in which I try one or more games and show the difference between stock and PBO optimized settings in detail.
So in conclusion, there is most likely nothing you have to worry about. Maybe also keep an eye on your temperature, because these Ryzen 7000x3D's can get pretty hot because of the L3 cache. Mine mostly never goes past 80 degrees Celsius while rendering for a few Minutes and stays at about 55 - 65 degrees Celsius while gaming with a Liquid Freezer 3
