So many people think that you need to "keto harder" or "carnivore harder" and sometimes that's not the answer. This is something that Judy Cho talks about in her podcast with Laura Spath. If you've been following your diet to a T and there are still issues, at that point it's no longer about the diet, it's some other underlying issue. Great video, Nili!

Congratulations! Appetite control is one of the greatest benefits I've also experienced by avoiding all wheat along with taking the "yogurt". Not only do I not have cravings anymore, but portion size is greatly reduced. Like you, I can't eat as much as I used to. Everybody I've spoken to has the same results. Self-control isn't necessary because it's natural and desirable to not eat as much as the old lifestyle demanded. Excellent video!

wow, you are becoming an expert on this topic! I had to giggle a bit when you mentioned your gut feeling better so you tried some things and then your skin broke out. I do the same thing! I go a few days with everything feeling better and then wonder if I can have nightshades again, lol! And Nope! Oh well, doesn't hurt to try! 😊

I agree with the “normal “ aspect….very few people are normal cellularly/metabolically either…so people including me says keto doesn’t work, I gained weight…but malnourished/malabsorption too. Due to all my other issues nothing seems to work. The whole trial and error process is overwhelming and exhausting.

I did keto for a summer (not in a place where I can do it now, but it was fun) and accidentally lost a bunch of weight I didn't need to lose in the first couple weeks. I had to deliberately eat more than I thought I needed in order to stop losing weight. From this I learned that self-control isn't really the deciding factor in any excessive weight I might gain in the future.

Glad to hear things are going well. You bring up a lot of issues that I think people don't think about or are unsure how to address. Your journey is definitely a demonstration that just struggling through something is not always the answer. I enjoy hearing about the different things you are trying. I have Dr. Davis' book and plan to read that next. I have found in my journey that I eat out of stress or boredom. Once I could cut my stress down I find I can walk away from food a lot easier. Medical issues are harder to address but as each one gets fixed the path gets easier.

Wow, Nili, it's a really profound idea that having cravings may be caused by critters in our gut that are demanding those foods. And that overcoming those cravings may be as simple as changing the gut bacteria. It makes total sense that if our bodies are deficient in certain nutrients, we may continue to be hungry no matter how much we eat, until we get those nutrients. So happy for you that you are getting your body's needs met and enjoying the results of that sufficiency. Thanks for sharing your journey; I'm sure it is going to help others in the same situation. Oh, and one idea that might help with the pill taking is, make a chart and check off each time you take them. Then you know you've done it, lol. I had to do this after cataract surgery when I had to take different drops several times a day. Just a suggestion!

I agree I can not over eat anymore… it is more about the ratio of Fat and Protein for me… I am never hungry. I have a Keto Coffee ( 1 Tbls cream pinch pink salt and a tsp butter) every morning. I don’t eat till about 2ish or even 4 if not hungry. It is like Maria Emmerach says… Fat macro is important but it is Protein that is the goal… I take Magnesium and Vit D everyday and try and eat Avocado for potassium most days… I don’t eat fruit as that fructose is a trigger for me. I enjoy your vids. Sleep is important as well. It is always best if your Diet becomes your lifestyle… ❤

I’m in the same place as you, still trying to figure out the SIBO thing. I’m being tested once again. I was diagnosed with IBS yrs ago and and found out I have Microscopic colitis with Diarrhea and it was get a bit better, but then I tried going carnivore and now it’s back. My doctor said it’s not just because I have MC, it’s has to be more, so we are testing again for SIBO and testing for yeast, 🤞🏻we find out what it is, but could be a month before I know. Thank you for sharing all you are dealing with and trying. I do believe our gut bugs have a lot to do with what we crave and all kinds of things in our lives.

The "you just need more self-control" narrative is SO damaging to people. For the vast majority of people it is very actively making their health vastly worse (emotional and mental, too!), since it feeds that cycle of trying super hard, being unable to succeed, then failing and ending up worse off.

Yes! This is so true! Fat is so vilified, I feel no-one even notices me. All they see is the fat and make a lot of assumptions. I feel so judged. I just want to curl up and die. I've spent my whole life trying to lose weight, ever since my Mum drew my attention (and everyone else's attention too) to my pudgy appearance, when I was about eight years old. I am now fifty six. It's so difficult.

Thank you, I have been on the keto diet for 3 yrs now and did loose the weight but still have digestive issues, tried to fast but can’t seem to get past 18 or so hrs. I made the yogurt for the first time in my sour vide 36 hrs. It came out like cottage cheese, not smooth. I will try again because I feel it will help my issue. you talked about other strains to help like this on. Would like to know more about them. Please direct me to this info. As always Thanks for all you help. 💕

in your research, what do you think is the biggest difference btwn taking the yogurt with those cultures vs just taking the cultures as a direct supplement? i have 2 issues: no means to make yogurt, and big dairy issues! so it seems that skipping the yogurt part would be easiest solution... but does it really not work as well? any brainstorm thoughts?

I was wondering whether you will still use yeast in your breads. I am sensitive to yeast and when I use it I do have reactions so have had to stop using it although I miss the flavor. It seems I tend towards a candida issue and the tiniest bit of yeast sets it in motion. I get a rash that takes a week to go away. Otherwise I feel great and digestion is wonderful. When that rash starts though I can actually perceive an odor that tells me it is starting. I used to make my own yogurt many years ago and set it on top of the hot water heater which seemed to keep it at a perfect temperature.

Hi Nili, I am making the L Reuteri yogurt and I am struggling with the temperature. I did a test run with just a jar of water and I thought I figured out the temp, However, when I did an actual jar of yogurt, the temp got up to 104 degrees. Did I kill the bacteria? How do I tell if I killed the bacteria? Will it hurt the yogurt if I go past the 36 hours?

I have a question. When someone has CIBO do they also have extremely smelly belching? Like an acid that feel as though they are burning the nose hairs of others who have to smell it? I’ve been begging my sister to talk to her doctor and get tested but she obviously hasn’t or they aren’t taking her serious. I’m the youngest in the family so I’m not taken seriously when I recommend anything. We are both type 2 diabetics. She has been for 20+ years and on all the medications including 2 insulin shots. I found out I was T2 in April of 2020 with an A1C of 12.4. All I got from her was “welcome to my world, you will learn you can’t eat anything so just take the medicine and eat what you want and shut up!” I didn’t do as she recommended. I changed my diet DRASTICALLY from the SAD diet starting with keto and now I’m almost entirely carnivore. My A1C is 5.something and bg under control with NO MEDICATION! 🎉. She still eats everything she wants including all the sweets and high carbs. She literally celebrated with cake when the dr put her on insulin. 😢. Her A1C is almost as good as mine now but I can’t make her understand that the abundance of insulin is doing harm to her body as well. All she sees is that her numbers are “good” and not all the traditional, expected illnesses that accompany diabetes piling up on her medical history that could have been avoided. Honestly though all the years of bg in the 200-400 range daily may have already done the damage idk. Anyway, I feel that all the surgeries, infections, really unhealthy eating habits and medications that keep being added to her list are bound to have taken a toll on her gut health. The belching is HORRID for everyone around her. She has been twice for upper and lower GI for frequent bouts of totally uncontrollable diarrhea but nothing was found to be an issue. She has diarrhea so frequently that she sometimes goes through 2 mega rolls of tp in 1 day all by herself. That ain’t right people! She frequently poops herself. Y’all! There has got to be something going on that can be fixed! Right now she is taking an RX that costs over $400 a month just to help SLOW it down! If not for her insurance she would not be able to afford it and they don’t even pay for all of it. I’m sorry this was so long. I guess this turned into somewhat of a rant for my not being taken seriously by her and the doctors just so willing to push another medication without looking for the cause. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Stacy it seems to me that what she is eating is her problem… HPF ( Highly Processed Food) is dangerous and thank goodness some Governments around the World are trying to change the products. The Diabetes epidemic in young teenagers is very scary and now people in high places are starting to see this. There are many seed oils and sweetness in processed foods that are causing a huge amount of dis-ease to the human race! Most people wouldn’t feed the crap they eat to their pets!! I hope you can get some help for your Sister soon.

From what I've read, the L. reuteri is naturally in your system until you take antibiotics which kill it off. So does eating the yogurt repopulate it or do you have to continue eating the yogurt forever? I find all the different strains of probiotics overwhelming and expensive. Your cats meowing in the background 😸😸😻.
