I've heard advice that when you are dating internationally and you make your first trip to the Philippines or wherever, that you should have dates lined up with several different girls so if one doesn't work out you can move on to another. Personally I can't imagine doing that, but apparently many guys do.
I am a single 70 year old man... about 27 months ago I met a 28 year old Filipina online. Since that time I have sent her over $75,000 for living, medical expenses, transportation expenses and employment search expenses.. I basically supported her....I finally cut her off as this was getting too much money for me and she got evicted from her home and is now homeless but I feel great guilt and remorse... how do I overcome this guilt? We never personally met but have done FaceTime and I did get receipts and do not believe she is a scammer ... she had an issue of one problem after another where she needs to be " rescued" and I don't want to recuse her anymore...
I just had a discussion about this. Many filipinas want a husband and family and the concept of casual sex and dating is foreign to them. You must be upfront about your intentions, and misleading a filipina if you only want a good time for a short time makes you a bad foreigner. If she's expecting a relationship but you only want a weekend, then move on. Don't be a bad guy.
No Gio, I think very few ppl may do multiple dating. Usually they date one person but very quickly realise if that is the potential person and continue dating. If they realise no then they move to another person.
It shows it does not matter at times of personal backgrounds or people groups. There are different folks on either side who press faster for relationship, or not. Some know what they want, some who do not. Some who fall for another via friendships or introduction.

This thing about not looking at other women, talk to them to avoid making her jealous is a total turn of for me. When I am in a restaurant and served by a waitress I will look at her and say thank you out of appreciation for her service. In a shop or supermarket I will look at the sales person or the cashier and say thank you. With 30 plus years of corporate life I have female ex colleagues and associates that I am connected through LinkedIn and Facebook who I will always acknowledge from a professional point of view. If a Filipina is jealous and has issues with these, then I will be the first one to dumb her and this is something I already did with my LDR. Explain first but if she does not get it, then sorry it ain’t going to work.
Then you tell the girl that you are dating that you like her friend and explain to her that you don't have chemistry with her and ask her permission if you could date her friend instead
If a foreigner asks a Filipina to meet for first time for coffee.....is that a date? Will that be expected to be exclusive from then on? Maybe if meeting a second time then yes.....?
As a foreigner, I moved very fast for the first week, then moved very slow for the next 6 years. So far, still not moved in together yet, or even intend to move in.
In west as you said on initial date both girl and guy might have "other options!" until they see if they like each other enough to commit, which usually takes only a few dates. In PH there are courting rituals if dating a Filipino and these can last months depending on where you are. But if a Filipina is dating a westerner she will know to a degree that we don't have such long courting rituals and they tend to use "I love you" in some cases after only a couple of dates. Where as even if a western couple have been dating a couple of months they won't say "I love you" as that is seen as a serious commitment thing to say and only used when they are very serious about each other.
HAHAHA! Gio, your girl is sharp! She knows what to ask. When my ex-wife and I first met, we dated other people because we were still getting to know each other. After six or seven months, we decided to become exclusive. I didn't ask who she dated, nor did she ask me. After that, we lived together for two years, then got married. We divorced after twelve years of marriage, but if I came to the Philippines, I would probably do the same thing, except not get married.
I was in the Philippines recently and meet a woman who did not want to move to fast. So, we took it slow. We sleep together 1x and that's it. I came back to the US and I got a message on WhatsApp. Saying she is saving herself for me cause I'm returning to PI November 1. I thought COOL. But something didn't feel right about the conversation. I told her I was immediately coming to Angeles until November 10. She said I need to come back before the 5th. Than she hit me with she needs to pay her rent of 5k. Oh needless to say I said goodbye.
Unless it’s agreed that there has been an exclusive relationship established, there’s no expectation of exclusivity. I’ve dated tons and maybe half the years have been exclusive and the other half was date, date, date. I even think there was a “friends” episode that locked that into accepted cultural norms, lol.
Great video good advice 👍 I’m going to Vietnam in about 6 weeks. They don’t require the you know what 🤓 do you think the Philippines will be opening up soon where they do not require the you know what with the pointy thing lol ?
Just always share your intentions from the first moment you spend time together ,be honest and let the young woman know being up front will normally be respected .
Hey Gio. Haircut looks great! Good Info! If Maya's friend is anything like her, she won't have any problems. (Send her to Cebu please) LOL. Hope all is well brother!
I'd like to share a couple of things... When I started chatting with my fiancée online while I was still in America and asked her if she was interested in seeing if we had chemistry and possibly pursuing a relationship, she only asked one thing which was that I not chat any other girls while I was chatting with her. I thought that was thoroughly reasonable while we were seeing if we had romantic compatibility. It worked out well for us as obviously we're engaged and I'm living here now LOL On the sarcasm / humor thing, all I can say is that my attempts at humor are usually received pretty well, however there have been several that have fell completely flat and one that resulted in and outright fight / tampo LOL Tread carefully guys 😁
I knew Ne was my one before she picked me up at the A/P 4 yrs. ago. She was the first Filipina I ever chatted with on Messenger & I wasn't looking for a GF. We chatted 7/10 for 8 mos. before I got here. I was actually working on there at the time for FB,
I think faster is better (why waste time). Get in a committed relationship and get to know each other as quickly as possible. One at a time. Figure out if you’re REALLY compatible and go from there.
Absolutely agree with you and the first minute that she has a jealous drama scene without real reasons than you already know how quickly this will turn sour. It's better that see the real person instead of the dating acting for longtime.
So, Maya says Filipina's are exclusive right away, and even if Westerners desire to be the same, I think there's a tendency for them to tread more cautiously maybe not wanting a repeat of a previous western relationship. Wanted to ask if a foreigner feels his date is not right for him, is there a more Filipina way of letting her know but with the least amount of drama and hurt feelings. I think this is more difficult when well-meaning friends fix a couple up, because now you have to also explain why you're not a good match to the third party, which is often incorrectly perceived as one party 'not being good enough' for the other.
Interesting topic Gio and Maya. I think most people will agree that Westerners have a very different dating mindset to Filipinas. I’m sure many guys on dating sites chat to several girls who want to meet them. It’s normal to meet a few, get to know them more and decide which one they would like to start a relationship with. Maybe there is one you feel more chemistry with who you would meet first, and not bother meeting the others. Going there to meet just one is risky to me. If she ‘flakes’ or you don’t hit it off, then what ? Filipinas jump into relationships much faster than Westerners who like to take more time over their decisions. Economic reasons often play a part also.
You are 100% right Gio. It's a much slower process for normal Westerners. I dated a Filipina and decided to just be friends and the reaction was atomic.
How does the three date ' rule of thumb' in the USA compare to the PI', might be interesting to hear a pinay's interpretation and if there is a rule of thumb there- or is it just the same, IDK, just an 💡
In the west from my experience if you are seeing each other for more then a few weeks then it is kind of implied that you are boyfriend/girlfriend. And you can get a feeling from the other person if you two are actually exclusive. Even if you officially ask them out it’s almost not even necessary.
All great advise seems like common sense for the Philippines, I’ve noted the jealousy attributes of the Filipinas, you could get into real trouble real fast lol.
I think if it's like on-line dating where there's been no contact or even just a couple coffee dates. It's ok to talk to several. But once it gets physical to more intimate dates and when she's coming alone. Is when it should be that no other girls should be in the picture.
Gio, I think you should have called that a (honest conversation about dating from a western man and Filipinas point of view). It was honest, I think in the west the reason why we wait for the commitment part to each other is to avoid walking away feeling bad. 5 dates and you can just say sorry walk away no guilt, just did not work for you or her. I have not done it since I was a much younger man (and not very often at that) but dating multiple women at the same time is called spinning plates in the west today. This is why Mia gave you the funny look. Long time ago spinning plates got me in trouble every time Chees mees exists in the west to. So, wait to commit but a bad idea to spin plates as it usually ends bad. Good video You and Mia look happy
The first time I went to the Philippines I intended on dating a few girls I had communicated with. After meeting the first girl we hit it off and were married 2 weeks later. Now after 34 years we're still happily together. she was also related to General Ramos, where she lived at his sisters residence while attending college.

nice vlog. lots of realistic informantion. Mia is such a pretty lady, the way she looks at you, she's in love. Also, been wondering what happened to your friends that live by you. haven't seen them for some time.
Great conversation..Gio you did a good job tiptoeing through the differences and mindset of the dating culture in the Philippines. In my opinion probably why most foreigners that aren’t online before heading to the Philippines get themselves in trouble. Because the average Filipina from the get-go like first date… OK what do you think is this forever… Lol my answer I don’t know let’s give it time may not go over all that well. They don’t understand the dating concept in the West that we don’t marry or have a forever relationship most of the time with our first date.I will try to be respectful, but honest and hopefully not step on too many toes. Definitely will not do the online dating before or there. Maybe my approach will be more in finding a travel companion at first or Tour guide, someone like minded Is very important but how do you find that person without having different dates and see where it goes. Or is that a recipe for disaster?Truly a good guy😎🇨🇦
So should you clarify to Filipinas on the first date that you are not committing to a relationship but just getting to know one another. How does that work?
Looking good with the short hair Gio. Do you find it more comfortable cut that way now? When going out with more than one person at a time it's not dating but is something else altogether. I've always thought of dating is a preliminary type of courting getting to know another person you like. From what I've learned dating to a Filipina means you are in an exclusive partnership leading to marriage. I have a question: If going on a date is considered an attachment/commitment to most Filipinas how can a foreigner respectfully come to know a Filipina without dating? Seems as you have to go all in or nothing with possible hurt feelings and drama. From what I see and read Filipinas in Philippines want to 'catch" a foreigner and have him exclusively date her and close the deal as quickly as possible. I don't say this disrespectfully it's just what my friends experienced and have observed.
Tell her at the beginning that you want to know her better before embarking on a serious relationship. You are dating but it doesn't mean you are already exclusively together.
Sorry I wasn't able to comment earlier. Had out of town company for a week. Good video, with great advice. Both of you take care. Gio, if you had cut your hair any shorter, you might have to break out the buffer to shine it up. Ha, ha.
My first date with a Filipina she brought a friend. I understood. We'd been talking on line for a couple of months but we'd never met in person before, she didn't know for sure that I wasn't a psychotic killer or something.
In my opinion, the only people that need a conversation about being exclusive are people that have a past of casual sex. For me I would only date one person and the first few dates ask questions to see how compatible we would be for long term. Then after the third date either have an exclusive LTR if we seemed compatible morally and for our long term life goals, or if we didn't seem compatible end it.
Good morning gio this topic on dating here in the US how , I see dating here is that if you like someone you approach them if they like you you exchange phone numbers you set up time so you want to meet the person spend time with them get to know them and if you have mutual fight for each other and you really enjoy spending time with that person then you continue to spend time with them and then over time if you're serious about each other then you move on to being a couple boyfriend and girlfriend.
Without being too forward, dating in the West use to be more like it is in the Philippines before the birth control pill. Yes people could be "friends" before then and go out but once you had sex things were more serious. Now in the West sex does not necessarily mean you are in a serious relationship. The "Seinfeld" definition of a serious or "official" relationship in the West is your girlfriend starts leaving "feminine" products in your home. In the West if a guy shows way too much interest too fast the women will run away. I'm not sure if that's true in the Philippines. If you meet the family in either culture the relationship is considered serious. My best guess is things go a little slower in the provinces or at least that's what I've heard. I've always found it difficult to date more than one women at a time. I try and decided if I see a future together with them and what future that might be? The women also has to decide if she wants a future with me. I am looking for a long term relationship but first I want to make sure I will be happy living in the Philippines.
The way Mia looks at you. I can see hearts. 😀 I agree with Mia as a Filipina. 1. Take it slow 2. Be friends first 3. If you want to date a couple of Filipinas. Date them as friends and don't give them false intentions 4. If you are serious, date only 1 Filipina because if we know you are dating more than one, we will not take you seriously too. 5. If you are serious, meet her friends, then relatives then parents. Meeting the parents is for a serious relationship. First meeting with a foreigner expect a chaperon with her.
A question for Mia. What would you recommend a foreigner do if he wants to get to know a filiipina (non-sexually) without actually dating. Do people hang out together as groups? Really curious.
my experience in the philippines is the more patience the foreigner man is the more women will come. because anytime in the philippines you can meet a filipina anywhere at any time there is no time frame in the philippines.
"Why can"t I just date anyone? What about that current girl that is hanging around? Did she leave any body product at your place? "Maybe some moisturizer." Is the Saturday night date implied, or do you have to ask her? "Implied." Do you have any Tam**x in your house?...... "Yes." You know what you got? You got yourself a girlfriend. Congratulations... (Seinfeld gold)
I think Maya maybe confusing “moving fast” with the “horizontal mombo”. Assuming that if you commit to the “ mombo” you are in a committed relationship. And you know GIO…. THAT AIN’T SO…. Misinformation and miscommunication is the biggest issues. And if you are unaware of cultural differences its understandable but still it’s up to the “visiting person” to figure it out..
2 things, from my perspective. 1- generally we (Westerners) move to physical intimacy quickly, but that doesn't necessarily equate to a committed stage of a relationship. 2- To Maya's experience, often, older guys on who have been divorced or even not had a serious relationship... they are looking to get into a relationship quickly, to "get over" the divorce, etc. Also, Filipinas seem like dream girls after the feminist insanity we've experienced in the West.
Dating online for me as Im 42 years old now (2023) lets just be friend and get to know more, meet you in public place like restaurant. You can explore date whoever you want. Until you figure out who you want to choose as your exclusive girlfriend. (coming from matured pinay)

As a foreigner, I moved very fast for the first week, then moved very slow for the next 6 years. So far, still not moved in together yet, or even intend to move in.
that maybe explains the picture of trump... all makes sense
Agreed
We divorced after twelve years of marriage, but if I came to the Philippines, I would probably do the same thing, except not get married.
western guys in Phils have a lot of ladies to choose from which isn't always as good as it sounds as confusion can set in
I was in the Philippines recently and meet a woman who did not want to move to fast.
Yikes, well most of us have a story like that. You are not alone.
Unless it’s agreed that there has been an exclusive relationship established, there’s no expectation of exclusivity. I’ve dated tons and maybe half the years have been exclusive and the other half was date, date, date. I even think there was a “friends” episode that locked that into accepted cultural norms, lol.
That’s as close as I could find.
First time watching Gio get nervous.... That look on her face of "You have some splaining to do!!!"
Great video good advice 👍 I’m going to Vietnam in about 6 weeks. They don’t require the you know what 🤓 do you think the Philippines will be opening up soon where they do not require the you know what with the pointy thing lol ?
Lol
I agree with a coffee date and breakfast. If things go south, you at least fed her and can be on your way...
Just always share your intentions from the first moment you spend time together ,be honest and let the young woman know being up front will normally be respected .
You stepped right into it 😂😅😅
When dating Filipinas try to avoid going to the ATM. 😁🤣😃
Good job, guys
Is dipolog and dapitan safe for us foreigner? I plan to visit there in march, but read lot of stories about it being dangerous
Hey Gio. Haircut looks great! Good Info! If Maya's friend is anything like her, she won't have any problems. (Send her to Cebu please) LOL. Hope all is well brother!
Thanks Jack, ok sending her your way lol
@@GiointhePhilippines I Wish!
Real nice video guys. 😊
Thanks 👍
I had a regular girl up in subic city who had other boyfriends. I helped her write love letters to two of them just for laughs.
Ah yes, this is the dose of reality we needed...
I really like your content, I to am looking for a Filipina girl.
Well said buddy
Been there once simple mistake of a joke have to be careful
I knew Ne was my one before she picked me up at the A/P 4 yrs. ago. She was the first Filipina I ever chatted with on Messenger & I wasn't looking for a GF. We chatted 7/10 for 8 mos. before I got here. I was actually working on there at the time for FB,
Were you the only one she was chatting with during that time? Short answer, no. It's just the way it is. Glad you found love and a wife brother.
Oh man, that's so good to know. My humor can be edgy from time to time
Always great content.
The way she looks at him when he talks about dating around with multiple girls 😄
😂
5:56 the look was real lol
You are 100% right Gio. It's a much slower process for normal Westerners. I dated a Filipina and decided to just be friends and the reaction was atomic.
What's that mean? Like a bomb lolol
@@mitch8575 destroyed buildings, overturned cars, SCOOTERS. Possible radiation.

Anthony Yup that's Filipinas.
What about Philippinas that date several guys long distance and local?
How does the three date ' rule of thumb' in the USA compare to the PI', might be interesting to hear a pinay's interpretation and if there is a rule of thumb there- or is it just the same, IDK, just an 💡
No, different here
Good video,yes avoid sarcasm!
Do they do stuff like give her an engagement ring or go and meet the parents or some other way to solidify the more permanent relationship??
The first point is absolutely true here in Thailand as well.
My last two American ladies were fine sleeping together but strictly avoided the word "boyfriend". No more Western women.
In the west from my experience if you are seeing each other for more then a few weeks then it is kind of implied that you are boyfriend/girlfriend. And you can get a feeling from the other person if you two are actually exclusive. Even if you officially ask them out it’s almost not even necessary.
Not sure which west you're in, but that's definitely not the west I know...
@@champagneshade6249 It IS the West I know--where are you from that its different?
All great advise seems like common sense for the Philippines, I’ve noted the jealousy attributes of the Filipinas, you could get into real trouble real fast lol.
I think if it's like on-line dating where there's been no contact or even just a couple coffee dates. It's ok to talk to several. But once it gets physical to more intimate dates and when she's coming alone. Is when it should be that no other girls should be in the picture.
Great video 🎥, but I have one question, what the heck happened to your hair?
Shaved it off 😉
@@GiointhePhilippines hahaha 😝. Looks great and easy to take care of. 😊
Thanks Rob
Reminds me of Doc from Street Outlaws. Voice, talking, and looks are almost the same.
Serious haircut Gio. Are you saving money on the annual haircut budget lol ?
You know it 😂
The first time I went to the Philippines I intended on dating a few girls I had communicated with. After meeting the first girl we hit it off and were married 2 weeks later. Now after 34 years we're still happily together. she was also related to General Ramos, where she lived at his sisters residence while attending college.
How do you get married that quickly 2 weeks i thought there's a long process
@@ChefNastyCreates Her grandfather was the mayor of Naga Cebu and expedited my residence papers and marriage contract. I took 6 months later for her to come to the states with the help of a congressman from Minnesota.
nice vlog. lots of realistic informantion. Mia is such a pretty lady, the way she looks at you, she's in love. Also, been wondering what happened to your friends that live by you. haven't seen them for some time.
Thank you so much!!
Nice save Gio... lol
The look😂
gio interesting video showing the cultural differences ps maybe send maya out to interveiw a few filipinas to get there prospective even her freind
What I meant by that was that foreigners take there time before commiting to a relationship
She can
Filipinas might know the difference between there and their ;-)
Great conversation..Gio you did a good job tiptoeing through the differences and mindset of the dating culture in the Philippines.
Just be upfront and you'll be fine.
It would be so wonderful to have a good Filipina who not have lots other guys and be happy to be married
So should you clarify to Filipinas on the first date that you are not committing to a relationship but just getting to know one another. How does that work?
I'd clarify
@@MayaLifeInThePhilippines Great answer thank you Maya.
LOL, glad you said something Maya I forgot you have a channel. New subscriber now.
So if I am talking to a filipina on dating app is she going to assume that we are together?
Just talking no
Dating, is getting to know the person, to see if you want to take it further
my experience there was filipina move fast and myself i would rather just look around to see if i like others
I love her
Me too 😂
Gio seems like you're doing a lot of back pedaling lately... 😁😁😁😁
😬😬😬😬
Sorry I wasn't able to comment earlier. Had out of town company for a week. Good video, with great advice. Both of you take care. Gio, if you had cut your hair any shorter, you might have to break out the buffer to shine it up. Ha, ha.
I was debating shaving it all off lol
Did u get a haircut? Did Maya cut it? Lol. Good info on dating!
New haircut but no it was the Barber 🤣
My first date with a Filipina she brought a friend. I understood. We'd been talking on line for a couple of months but we'd never met in person before, she didn't know for sure that I wasn't a psychotic killer or something.
Exactly
In my opinion, the only people that need a conversation about being exclusive are people that have a past of casual sex.
For me I would only date one person and the first few dates ask questions to see how compatible we would be for long term. Then after the third date either have an exclusive LTR if we seemed compatible morally and for our long term life goals, or if we didn't seem compatible end it.
Good morning gio this topic on dating here in the US how , I see dating here is that if you like someone you approach them if they like you you exchange phone numbers you set up time so you want to meet the person spend time with them get to know them and if you have mutual fight for each other and you really enjoy spending time with that person then you continue to spend time with them and then over time if you're serious about each other then you move on to being a couple boyfriend and girlfriend.
geo is right on. takes time to fall in love.
Go on several dates and do things together
Are you in need of more female friendships ? ( non sexual nature )
my experience in the philippines is the more patience the foreigner man is the more women will come. because anytime in the philippines you can meet a filipina anywhere at any time there is no time frame in the philippines.
"Why can"t I just date anyone? What about that current girl that is hanging around?
Did she leave any body product at your place? "Maybe some moisturizer."
Is the Saturday night date implied, or do you have to ask her? "Implied."
Do you have any Tam**x in your house?...... "Yes."
You know what you got? You got yourself a girlfriend. Congratulations... (Seinfeld gold)
Lol classic
The "Avoid Sarcasm" is a good rule... unless they have been around foreigners a lot.
Exactly
Gio, is she talking to us or you? 😆 🤣
lol
Great points of Culture !!!
i loved when Maya put her head on your shoulder at the end. I think all decent men what that. Thanks for a nice video
Glad you enjoyed it
I think Maya maybe confusing “moving fast” with the “horizontal mombo”.
Ding ding! Body language
Dating in the West is a sport, you're either playing or sitting on the bench.
Dating online for me as Im 42 years old now (2023) lets just be friend and get to know more, meet you in public place like restaurant. You can explore date whoever you want. Until you figure out who you want to choose as your exclusive girlfriend. (coming from matured pinay)
Friends are great becuase usually they know both the guy and Filipina, better chance at finding some chemistry.
She's Beautiful, my man!
