This is weird, but you must be the one person in existence that is so nostalgic for Settlers 2, but somehow without the YEEPIE!! sound effect, placing those mines blindly :).
I mean yeah.. probably 😅 it's a cool game though at least I think so. The nostalgia has been hitting hard recently, have been hard searching for all the games I loved as a kid 😄 Mine placement wasn't good that I'll admit, plus building that first was probably not the best choice ever 😂
Ah, the nostalgia. I probably played this about as much as I watched my dad play it. This and later Anno 1602, essentially my first forays into Let's Plays before Let's Plays were a thing.
i loved this too back in the day, it was one of the first good pop management games. does anyone remember Populus, and before that was another, which was the very first that I came across. all you had was a tiny island and a handful of tribesmen but it was multiplayer, your little group could fight their little group. i can't even remember the name. i think it was on the amiga
If you like to play the old settlers, you might also want to try games such as knights and merchants. Northland and 8 wonder. Townsman a kingdom rebuild, and Pioneers of Pagonia They play a lot like the settlers.
I recently had a similar thing happen to me about a month ago. Tried looking for a space strategy game I played a lot of back in middle school, and after days of going through lists, I eventually found it in Space Empires IV. It's fun to get to play the classics.
Definitely! With the years going by so fast. Slowing down and playing these older games really puts things into perspective when I compare to the games my son will grow up with 😅
@@victiusplays And in the case of some franchises we were there to play when they started, the new joiners today look at us weird if we tell them we don't like where it's gone XD
I played the first version on the Amiga and the subsequent sequels up until Settlers 3. (After that I had to get a real job and had kids lol!!) Surprisingly it holds up pretty well, it would be great if there was a mobile phone version though I expect that they would make it heavily monetised with gatcha chests and gambling mechanics. Northguard is the best equivalent I have found.
I actually played this very late, cause I was born the year it released. Not that I cared when I played it as a kid though hahah. I am surprised of how well it holds up though, yet it is exactly how I remember it and it would be cool to play it in the go. Northguard I've never tried even though I looked at it multiple times, it looks cool
Your lack of English wasn't the problem, it was your lack of German: The game's original name is *Die Siedler*, and it was released in German long before it was in English! I'm also surprised to learn it was Settlers 2 you played in 2006, given that by this point schools would've been running Windows NT hardware without native DOS support; Are you *sure* it wasn't Settlers IV instead, which came out in 2001 and was basically a slightly prettier version of the same game?
I do believe the game was in English, can't be 100% certain though but not many games are shipped with German as the main language in Denmark 😄 I am though 100% sure it was the settlers II. It's older yes, but I also played it in school and spending money on computers and video games wasn't a school's biggest priority 😅 First time would be around 2001. 2006 was when I played it the last time, as I moved to a new city/school. The new school was all about Warcraft and WoW 😂
Thanks for the feedback!🙏 I wanted to try something different, have a little weird factor over it as well. Maybe it's a little too much though 😅 Definitely noted for the future 😄

That YEEPIE is burned to my soul

I know that feeling. I spend almost 17 years searching for a pronvid i watched as a teenager.
Glad I'm not the only one! Bet it must have felt great finding it again! 😄
My favorite game as a child as well!
It's a great game! Glad I got to play it again 😄

Happy for you! Played Settlers 2 as a kid and it was great even though I prefer Settlers 4 overall.
Thanks 🙏
This is actually the only settlers game I've played, but might have to look up the others from the series now 😄

Cool vid but the ai at the beginning is super uncanny. Why not use regular illustrations?

I'm sorry, Danish adults finish work at 4pm?

Most yes, but ofc there are exceptions 😅
