I love how dumb it sounds when one tries to describe the actual win condition of each Baba is You level. In many games it would be "You need to get to the finish point." but with Baba it's "A thing that is you must be in the same place as a thing that is win." Which sounds like it's just an overcomplicated and slightly dumb way of saying the first one, but it's a meaningful difference with the mechanics of the game.
So true! Learning the mechanics and combining all your knowledge to solve harder puzzles everytime is super satisfying. Especially since a lot of them have multiple solutions.

I wonder how long it will take him to realize what "defeat" actually does. For those curious: anything which is "you" that touches a thing which is "defeat" disappears, but only that one object. If you've managed to be multiple objects (like when he became all the walls) it's totally fine to lose some of them.
@@stellasdoesstuff Not usually, but it wouldn't be hard to build a level with two "you" things where guiding one to a "win" thing inadvertantly causes the other to destroy some required text and the solution is to get the latter killed so the former can reach a "win" unimpeded.

This is such an interesting puzzle game, because while it does have a solid and unbreakable logic behind every action and interaction, you also need to let go of what “makes sense”. It makes sense that you play as the little white rabbit and push rocks and touch the flag to win, but you can’t depend on that logic and need to focus on what rules are in play at the moment, regardless of what objects would normally do. Like it doesn’t matter if it’s Baba or lava or a wall, they don’t have any predetermined properties beyond what rules are on screen, and I think that’s so clever as a puzzle despite its simplicity.
It’s also interesting because it allows players to be in their own way. The answer is right there but a player assumes the answer is impossible, based on preconceived notions. You need to look at the facts on each level separate from past levels
This game is awesome. The meta-gaming aspect of it just keeps zooming out further and further as you continue. It gets really mindbending once you get to levels 7+.
Always love seeing how people approach this game! If you do play more of this it might be nice to relax the pace of the editing very very slightly, just so viewers have a bit more room to breathe and think through each of the levels alongside you. Doesn’t have to be much, even just the odd few seconds near the start of each level.
@@RealCivilEngineerGaming if something that is you touches something that is defeat, that thing is destroyed. There technically isn't a "lose" state in the levels, just spots where nothing is you. as long as at least 1 thing is still around that is you, there's no problem.
If you're confused, defeat doesn't mean you lose the level if you touch it, it just means that that part of you is gone. If you have 2 things that are you, you can move one of them into the defeat area to get to the "win" object. Also, you need to be "you" to finish the level. For example, if you have "baba is win", and the word "flag", if you push the word flag and baba to make "flag is win", that won't work because you are no longer baba.

That was a fun trip on my end. I enjoy watching people puzzle-solve games like this. It can be quite validating. Many who've thought through these puzzles before struggled in the exact same way. But that moment when you finally figure it out feels so good!
To explain level 6, you are controlling every instance of the wall block, and you only need a single wall block to be with the win tile, in this case the flag. So since at least one of the wall tiles collided with the flag, you win. It doesn't matter what happens to the other wall bits
6:12 - Wall is you > you controlled the walls You moved around and destroyed several sections of wall on the skulls, but since there was still at least one wall (one you) in play, you hadn't lost yet. You then moved the wall onto the flag, and Flag is Win, so you won that level.
7:26 - walls aren't stop, so just push 'win' through the walls and swap it for 'grass is stop'. Now grass is win. Same with the final one you got stuck on - make crabs defeat and the flag win, then remove 'wall is stop' and just walk through the wall to get around the crabs. Looks like a fun game! I might have to get hold of it...

On the Lava Introduction Level (Volcano) You should’ve done the much more fun victory of making Lava is You and then becoming a massive cascade of lava to pour over the flag
I'm going to take this as an opportunity to explain some of the rules in this game. Individual nouns are not going to be explained; every non-special noun behaves in the exact same way. Everything below is a Property unless explicitly stated otherwise. IS - The most basic Operator. `[Noun] IS [Property]` makes every [Noun] have the property [Property]. `[Noun] IS [Noun 2]` turns every [Noun] into [Noun 2], unless `[Noun] IS [Noun]`. YOU - Any object that is YOU can be moved by the keys specified in the controls. If no such object exists, the music fades away*, however, things can still change in the level. WIN - If any object that is YOU occupies the same tile as an object that is WIN, the level is completed. This includes itself. STOP - If any object tries to move onto the same tile as an object that is STOP, the movement fails. PUSH - If any object tries to move onto the same tile as an object that is PUSH, the latter will move in and face the same direction. Implies STOP. `TEXT IS PUSH` by default. DEFEAT - If any object that is YOU occupies the same tile as an object that is DEFEAT, the YOU object is destroyed. This includes itself and occurs before WIN. SINK - If any object occupies the same tile as an object that is SINK, all objects on that tile are destroyed. This does not include itself. MELT and HOT - If any object that is MELT occupies the same tile as an object that is HOT, the former is destroyed. This includes itself. AND - An Operator. Can be used to chain Nouns, Properties, etc. Multiple rules formed in the same sentence using AND are functionally no different from each rule being formed individually. Examples: `[Noun 1] AND [Noun 2] IS [Property 1] AND [Property 2]` is equivalent to `[Noun 1] IS [Property 1]`, `[Noun 1] IS [Property 2]`, `[Noun 2] IS [Property 1]`, `[Noun 2] IS [Property 2]`; `[Noun 1] IS [Noun 2] AND [Noun 3] IS [Property]` is equivalent to `[Noun 1] IS [Noun 2] AND [Noun 3]`, `[Noun 3] IS [Property]`. MOVE - Any object that is MOVE will move in the direction it is facing. If the object cannot move onto a tile, reverses direction before moving.

It's an ingenious game: Great idea and wonderful puzzles. Love the whole atmosphere, too.
Ah yes, the semi-programming language game, Baba Is You! My absolute favourite brainteaser puzzle game.
Baba Is You is one of my favorites! Thanks!))
As someone else who had their brain blow up playing this game I very much enjoy watching you play it
It's cool to see you had some different solutions to me
Me who have already thought of a solution to the GRASS YARD level while watching you struggle with it: *smart laughter*
Yes! Finally he's playing it! I love this game
The best thing about watching other people play Baba Is You is being dumbfounded when they solve a problem completely differently to how you did - I just love it
"I seem to be smashing these now."
*enters pillar yard*
I like how he just says "def" instead of reading the whole "defeat".
On the Lava Introduction Level (Volcano) You should’ve done the much more fun victory of making Lava is You and then becoming a massive cascade of lava to pour over the flag
Please keep it up there are like 225 levels. All your content is great
Best part of watching others play Baba is you: seeing them solve levels in completely different ways than you did.
I love that level where wall is not stop and players who dont think hard enough will get tricked
I'm glad I'm not the only one who kept reading the "defeat" block as "death" at first lol
I think the solution to the last one was supposed to be baba is push, so you could push the crabs. But I freakin love your solution!
everyone: skull is death
dev : skull is defeat
Anyone been enjoying this series from CTC as well?
One of the best and cleverest indie games available. Watching new people play it makes me happy.
6:20 - Wall is you, flag is win. Wall touch flag. Wall is win, you is wall. You is win. Easy!
"If I put my Rabbit behind the crabs" 🤣
1:29 Level "What is this?", he: "What is this??"
