Are you part of the Dixi Sailing Club? We were going to go Saturday but the weather was too bad. We are in Sylacauga.

Yes- this video was from that day. The winds were too strong to let us take people out with us. They said we did not want to scare people. I think they are going to have another introduction to sailing later this summer so people can get out. There are usually boats going out every Saturday and we love to give people rides. Reach back out to me through this channel or the Facebook page. I think the weather scared some people off, but there were several that came. We would love to have you guys come down and sail with us.

It would be very interesting to have graphs or at least information about the speed, course, degrees of heel, direction and strength of the wind and the angle of incidence. Greetings from Cuba

Greetings! Excellent idea. I have seen other TH-cam sailing channels at least put the navionics split screen showing the boat speed on their videos. I am just not sure how to coordinate the times. But I agree more information like that would be useful. It would certainly help me too as I learn about the boat. I use these videos to go back and learn and see things I. Issued while out there. I will work on this.

looks like shes crusin good, is it normal for the chain plate rigging to be that loose undersail im not familiar with the Catalina 22
the port side shrouds look wobbly.

Excellent observation! I am in the process of trying to tune the shrouds. I think they are too loose also under heavy loads. They are not loose unless heavier winds. The issue I have when I try to tighten the front lowers is the turnbuckle that has a quick release can’t be tightened any more without taking them off. I bought a loose gauge to help tighten them with some rational thought as to how tight. When I went back and watched this video I noticed how loose they were and put this higher up on my to do list.

im no rigging expert but did a lot of reading about it, I got mine snug and a square on the mast so its straight measure the shrouds so there both same length to the chain plates adjust back stay so the mast is arched a little curve back from he top the sail slides will work better up and down.
to loose is not good to tight is not either just get them tight you will be fine.
amazon makes a rigging gauge for fairly cheap handy tool
