Eithan is a breath of fresh air in our very troubled world. It would have been nice to have let him speak more. He’s definitely onto something regarding “political hobbyism” which probably makes up most of what gets mischaracterized as “politics”. We are now inundated by talking heads and a profit driven (sensationalistic) media which thrives on creating and inflaming controversy and spreading fear and self-righteousness. It could even be described as anti-political in giving the illusion of political
engagement while doing nothing that actually leads to real political engagement. Politics is not talking or reading about politics. That obvious observation seems to be lost on many people today.
His book Politics Is For Power is an excellent straightforward exposition of his thesis. Thanks for doing this interview.

Why not having ID is a thing in USA is beyond me.

I agree it is very strange indeed. I have lived in two different counties outside the US that require residents and citizens to carry an ID card. I do not feel that I live in a dictatorship because of this.
People in the US don’t seem to complain about having to have a driver’s license to drive a car.
A national ID is like that for citizenship. Other oddities of the US: a presidential candidate need have NO experience in holding any public office, need not have a criminal free history, need not provide tax returns and need not provide health records. Most of these would be requirements for a basic job in the private sector. Somehow the idea of liberty has been perverted.
