How to Put on a Hair Topper and Blend it with Your Bio Hair

- 👉🏼 One of the more challenging parts of wearing your first topper is going to be putting it on and blending it with your bio hair.
That’s not to say it’s difficult, just awkward at first. Here’s a quick little step-by-step video about how to do just that.
1️⃣ Make sure you style your topper and bio hair separately
2️⃣ Use root concealer on hairline and part area
3️⃣ Comb front pieces forward
4️⃣ Line up your bio hair and topper parts
5️⃣ Open clips and scoop up hair and close them
6️⃣ Brush through to mesh your bio and topper hair
7️⃣ BONUS tip: curl the front pieces to incorporate your bio and topper hair together
Just like anything, it will take a little practice. Once you nail it, you’ll be popping that topper on in just seconds and be out the door 🙌🏼

Thank you. I have purchased a few products over the years, but never have been brave enough to wear. I've just worn the hair scrunch bun-types. I can make those look pretty good. But now....my hair is just getting to thin to do that very often.

I do have a question..... I have purchased clip in hair extensions that are human hair, but I think I need to trim and shape them. I also purchased the synthetic. Does it really make a difference? If you aren't going to style the topper, other than brushing and washing?
I’m glad you’re here! 🤗 I’m excited for you. Synthetic is a great option, sometimes it will appear a little more shinny. Trimming and shaping do make a big difference!
What product are you using on your hairline? Also best place to find a curly topper?
The root powder is from a company called sevich-I got mine on Amazon. And as for curly toppers-they’re hard to find! Thin Hair Thick has some or I’ve also heard of girls buying virgin hair toppers and perming them 👍🏼

You look thinner and seriously gorgeous green eyes with very long lashes!!! Is it my imagination that your bio hair seems to be thicker on your scalp? I have watched your other videos and it seems that it is not as thin on top!! If so, what are you using to regrow it? I have very thin, fine and sparse hair which is a result of my thyroid cancer. I am currently using Viviscal supplements plus their shampoo, conditioner and elixir. I am keeping my fingers crossed, but it really seems to be helping!!😊

Im wondering if money were no option which topper you recommend after all the experience you have had with them. I am a redhead and staying with it has been a struggle. Hi Angela!! I actually did a live on Instagram about this not too long ago. My favorite piece that I own, for me, is from www.tosshaircollection.com. But that could be different for everyone. It doesn’t have a ton of volume and I actually really LOVE the Enchantop in this video for that but my hair loss is at a point where I wish the cap on this one was bigger. I know red hair is a struggle to match so you might be better off ordering a platinum blonde and having it customized to your color by a stylist. I have a video all about finding your first topper-have you seen that one? If you want volume I would go with a monotop or the Enchantop in this video-depending on how much hair loss you have.

How well does it hold? Does it move around easily? Like I have super thin straight hair and Bobby pins slide right off so I’m worried a topper will too
Hi Jocelyn! That’s a good question. So typically toppers have about 6 clips. This secures them very well. If you’re still worried about the topper moving then adding some dry shampoo or hairspray prior makes all the difference!
I'm concerned because my own hair is so fine and thin that getting the clips to hold it might be a problem. I saw one gal on youtube who wears her topper an inch back from her hairline, and she does a bit of teasing to give the clip something to hold on to. What are your thoughts on this?
I totally understand what you’re saying! In your case it would be important to get a larger cap construction that way the topper is lower near your ears. I personally don’t typically tease the hair, but rather add hairspray/dry shampoo and that works great. 🙂
I have a topper that I love but it has a bit of a lace front. I like to have some of my own front hairs out, should I trim off the lace??
Lace fronts are meant to recreate a hairline for you. But you can try trimming it all the way back and incorporating some of your own hair!

It just helps with blending so my hairline looks a little thicker 👍🏼

Do you mean place the hair toppers? Like attach them? You just line up your bio hair part with the hair topper part. Then open a clip, scoop up some hair, and close it. Then repeat with the other clips 👍🏼
And as far as serum, I’m assuming you’re talking about a hair oil? You only need a tiny, tiny amount and you want to rub it into the palms of your hands and then run your hands through the ends of the hair. ☺️
Where can I get the hir powder or fibres? Do thty sell them in chemists? I live in UK.
Hmmm…great question. I’m not sure. These are the ones I use: surethik.com/products/surethik-hair-thickening-fibers-15g-0-53oz but I’m not sure if they ship to the UK. They are synthetic keratin fibers so if they don’t, you might be able to find another brand that sells in the UK.
I love your topper can it be parted on either side? Do they make a wavy topper?
Unfortunately it can only be parted on the left side. This one is definitely pretty curly when wet but I don’t think that’s super consistent with every piece. You could try reaching out to the company to see if they could guarantee you a wavy one 👍🏼

The front of my hairline area is VERY sensitive. How do you remove a clip from a topper, and replace with a comb in the very front of your topper?
I’m sorry to hear that! Mine is sensitive too. I had to un-sew the clip. Then sew on a comb as a replacement. I don’t personally have a video up on how to do that yet. There are some great ones here on TH-cam of others that have replaced their clip also. ☺️

Hey! So there are some toppers that cannot be parted differently other than in the way that it was manufactured. The area is able to be parted in any side of that area is hand tied in the cap. I also use hair fibers which help. ☺️
How long does it last? For how long can you use one of these toppers?
It depends on the quality of hair. If it’s highly processed then it would last about a year. If it’s minimally processed then about four years.

Of course! No it doesn’t. 🙂 it makes such a difference that toppers lay on top of the head. This allows gravity to play a big part and not pull. Extensions do the opposite.

How did you get the comb in
I just sewed it in myself ☺️
I know you wash it every 3 months, how you clean it dry would shampoo damage it. I got my first one from Lauren Ashley. I love it. But looking for another good one like it

How would I do it with a side part? I have a left side part in my hair but the topper seems to have a middle part?
Most toppers can be parted on different sides. This one is a left part only. But on most toppers, you just need to move the part, wet it, and blow dry it into place 👍
