  • Hello! Today I wanted to share a recent experiment with alternating earlier, shorter windows and longer windows. The “faux” ADF as I’m calling it as it was up days and down days in a way.

🌹Thanks Lexi, another informative video. Fasting can really be adapted to any lifestyle & doesn't have to be set in stone. There will always be times of unexpected stress and being able to flex your fasting is way better than quitting. Have a great week✌🏼🧡😊

Thanks for the video and for sharing the results of your experiments! After several experiments of my own, I have recently found that keto/ADF seems to be working well for me. I will turn 57 y/o tomorrow, and I am 6’2”, 185# wearing 30W X 34L pants. The keto part of my keto/ADF has helped me to feel fuller during my fasting days because when I was doing ADF without keto I did tend to get hungrier on fasting days. Like you, I fast M,W,F, but something that I do differently is that I tend to break my fast around 1:00-2:00 PM, and always close my window prior to 8:00 PM. That effectively makes my fasting window more like 42 hours as opposed to 36 on my fasting days. The thing I really love about what I am doing is the routine. I also work out with weights M,T,Th,F. So, all of my workouts and fasting happens during the week and weekends are free from working out and fasting, and anytime I have feast days they are ~ 6 hour eating windows. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, the balance seems to be working well for me, and I think I may soon be considering eliminating one of my fasting days (probably Wednesday) just as an experiment to see what happens with my weight. Thanks for what you do, Lexie, and please let me know your thoughts on my plan as time permits. 👍🙏💪

Hi Doug!! That’s great, and yeah, the only way to know if it will work for you is to try it and see how you feel! But you’re doing awesome 👏🏼

I love ❤️ your channel I’ve been fasting 16/8 for 3 months now I’ve lost 12 pounds it’s a bit unusual sometimes because my weight was stuck at 178 oddly it just went down two pounds but I finally got some really large saleds and thus seemed to change the plateau but I had to fuel earlier in day cuzz I was feeling a little weak I’m 60 years and I try to listen to how my energy is feeling and I let that guide my feeding windows

Hello Lexi! You reminded me of how I felt towards the end of period when I was doing modified ADF on 6:1 schedule. The 500kcals became a real struggle because I got so sick of the same food I was having for the 500kcals and the couple of times when I tried something different, it would make me much more hungrier. Now that I’ve gone back to not including the 500kcal, I’m enjoying it more. But I have to be so diligent with sipping salted water throughout the day, otherwise the brain fog comes back like how it did before I started modified ADF. Funny enough, about water weight with ADF. Remember I was saying my weight hadn’t changed much after 6 weeks of 5:2? I’m starting to think it’s because of the salted water I’ve been drinking on fast days, it somehow retains water, but what’s interesting is that after an eat day, my weight would not go up by much at all from the fast day. I’m going to experiment with drinking some water without salt today since I’m fasting right now and see if it makes a difference in terms of dropping more water weight. I really agree with less is sometimes more, I think when I stopped 4:3 and started a mix of daily window with some 6:1 and occasional 5:2, I was always trying to fast just that little bit more. But this time round, it feels different, holding steady with 5:2, not more and not less to go the distance. Also! My daughter has been been down with a cold since last Thursday and I was starting to feel a bit of a scratchy throat the last couple of days and guess what? After today’s fast, no more scratchy throat! And I think I could have caught the bug from her if I haven’t been doing 5:2 because she’s been sleeping with me whilst my husband is travelling for work for a couple of weeks. So I agree wholeheartedly that longer fast does help fight against sickness!

Hi Patricia! Yeah, I agree it would be easier to stay with the same stuff for the 500 cal meal to not have to do calculations, but that can be boring. I know lots of ppl love the modified version. It just is not for me! And yea for
You bypassing the sickness! 🥳 It seriously has been incredible watching my fam go through different bugs and just to watch the power of fasting in action. It’s my best motivation! And that’s so interesting about the salt water, you may want to experiment but for sure if you need it, you need it. I rarely feel like I need extra salt, but I do take magnesium on fast day. Anyway, let me know what you find! Always interested to hear about personal experiences. 😉

I really enjoy eating 1 hour per day around 1pm. I think I am going to do that this week and eat carnivore. I am having a real problem controlling my carbs. When I do ADF, on my eating days, I tend to graze all day. Never a good thing and has halted any weight loss.

Hi Marlaena! It’s worth a try! You definitely need to test things out and see what works best for you overall. I wish you the best!
