Not everyone is booksmart or have a law degree but the one thing that unites each and every one of us is to be treated with common courtesy and respect. Insulting someone because they don't measure up to your standards is a piss poor way to treat people.
It’s telling that even after Erin’s proved her wrong, she still can’t apologize. Just some BS about getting off on the wrong foot, as though it was somehow both of their faults. Even though she’s been schooled, she still looks down on Erin.
@Harold Cleveland Emphasis on “speak the way she did”. She would have been immediately reprimanded on the spot for the way she spoke, but no one joined in immediately as they know that she is in the right here.

As stated in other posts, Erin was dyslexic, so she wouldn't have been able to write those numbers down. So she memorized them. The files were taken from her house, without her knowledge. If she had forewarning that they were getting the files, she could've made sure the information was there. It was the way it was implied by Theresa that Erin didn't know what she was doing because she didn't have a degree that set Erin off. Theresa insulted Erin, so Erin insulted her back, which she was pretty much known for.
Except these were her personal files/notes that she had in her house. They went and got it without her permission. Had she been informed she would have written them down.
@@michelleponzio She didn't mention a degree though. It's not out of animosity she assumed she didn't know a crap ton of phone numbers by heart. How many people do you know do?
The lawyer isn't even condescending, she's professional in how she approaches Erin and that the documents are incomplete makes sense to fix. These are huge companies and if Erin did get sick or forget a number... they're risking a lot. It makes sense to have things well documented and it really isn't strange to ask. She asked respectfully too. What are they going to ask Erin whenever they need to call someone? That isn't in the least efficient.
Agreed. She wasn’t meaning to be rude or condescending and I feel she was being as polite and delicate as she could. Anyone who think Erin was right here, clearly doesn’t have much executive or group project work experience- it’s called working professionally and collaboratively with everyone having access to the necessary information. Jeez. How we I’m glad Erin was passionate, she helped so many people.
Well sure but this lady is a representation of the corporate bullshit that Erin has to consider, considering this is her life and she wont let just anyone take over
That is true, but there is a way to do and say things. She felt that Erin did not belong and she felt as though she was not going to even try to relate or even ask Erin any questions. She was in charge and that was it. Sometimes it is a good thing to stand up for yourself when no one else will. The lawyer knows that they are taking over a case that they, mostly Erin, has spent over a year working on. She did not ask Erin if she knew what was missing or anything. She assumed that by the way she was dressed and the fact she knew she wasn't a real lawyer. Her tone and facial expressions told everything. It all could have been handled a different way. Erin has done all the work. They could have at least asked for her imput and her boss could have stood up for her too. Erin was never by any means professional but she knew her job. The woman was snobby. GREAT movie. I only watched for class but this was good to see. Mirjam Heijn you have to put yourself in erins shoes and the other ladies shoes. Two wrongs do not make a right.
I honestly don’t think Theresa did anything wrong. It’s great Erin knew everyone’s phone number but not everyone involved would. A paralegal might need to call them to schedule a meeting.
Maxwell Housman so why couldn’t Theresa ask if Erin could help them with numbers instead of ASSUMING it wasn’t done?! The only flaw there was that Theresa didn’t see work done HER way. She sounded a little condescending when she vocalized this assumption. That’s where Erin burned her bad. That was the difference between someone “doing their job” and someone actually doing THE WORK Oh. And Erin has dyslexia, so writing wasn’t the best record keeping mechanism available to her. A simple request for numbers by Theresa in the first place would have made things simpler. Not assumptions made.
I mean it's great she knows all that info by heart but it should really be in the files. She's not going to be around every second of the day to answer questions. I'm actually on the stick-up-her-but lawyer's side here.
These were her case notes, not like professional case files. They had them brought over before she had a chance to update. There was nothing wrong with her asking for the contacts it's the way she did it
@@CherryBlossomBlyue Yes and no. Her case files do belong to the firm. But I feel like there's no way she could've asked for them and everyone would still cheer for Erin's rotten attitude.
Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, Meryl, Viola Davis ignoring the race, many can pull this off actually.. The role was good and content was strong..
Why is she so mean to her? She wasn’t rude to her she just said she needed some more information. I thought she was respectful and sweet I don’t understand
Bridgette Bianchi who is “she”?! And lawyers aren’t sweet or respectful. They’re usually pretty condescending and look bored and frustrated when they think their degree puts them above people in a room. This was perfection 💋 👌🏾 !!!
@@Alusnovalotus Have you ever even met a lawyer? I work in a law firm and the attorneys are always swamped with work and phone calls, etc. They put a lot of faith in the people that work for them, legal assistants and paralegals, to have everything prepared accordingly. If a component is missing, something as crucial as contact information can be extremely frustrating and set a case back, something an attorney will have to go back to later. That's like working at a shoe store, and you go into the back to get something, but nothing is stocked properly. Or working at a food place and some ingredients for the food are missing. No lawyers I've ever met have been condescending or rude. Certainly I'm there to work for them, not the other way around, but they don't lord that over me as "I'm better than you" because they know I play a valuable role in their day to day work too. So if I'm missing something and didn't do my job properly, I should expect to be called out, and go back to do it properly, especially if they asked nicely. Badda BING!! Badda BOOM!
Erin- 100
Theresa- ZEROOOO!!!!!!
Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock are just the two actresses I admire when it comes to delivering intense monologues with very distinct articulation that even if they speak in rapid, graphic passion, the words are still audibly diaphanous.
Dude shutup and talk normal.
Great actresses, and very easy on the eyes.
Reminded me of the big mistake scene from Pretty Woman!! This is a mic drop moment here!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🎤🎤🎤🎤
Priceless, her best film in my opinion.
Erin gave birth to reading and shade lol!!!
Not everyone is booksmart or have a law degree but the one thing that unites each and every one of us is to be treated with common courtesy and respect. Insulting someone because they don't measure up to your standards is a piss poor way to treat people.
But Erin insulting.
Lol I love how she looks down at her shoes lololol
Then she looks down at her shoes, lol.
Absolutely love this movie ! How can you trust yourself when no one trust you ???? The "real " Erin Brockovich is a hero !
Getting this good at a job ensures that NO ONE can tell you that you're wrong.
The first thing you need to show anyone who works that hard is respect. Wrong start from Theresa.
One of my all-time favourite films.
OWNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant film, erins come backs are epic
It’s telling that even after Erin’s proved her wrong, she still can’t apologize. Just some BS about getting off on the wrong foot, as though it was somehow both of their faults. Even though she’s been schooled, she still looks down on Erin.
Erin was entitled to speak the way she did - she earned it.
@Harold Cleveland Emphasis on “speak the way she did”. She would have been immediately reprimanded on the spot for the way she spoke, but no one joined in immediately as they know that she is in the right here.
This is the best I ve ever seen Julia Roberts look. Hair, makeup...... everything was perfect.
Can't believe this movie is 20 years old!
I love Albert Finney’s character look, like “Oh, You’ve done it now!” 🤣
I love this movie. I love that it based off a true story. Crazy thing is that here in Oregon last year we had devastating fires. And now Erin Brockovich and the legal team she works with is representing those who have suffered. Because its been shown that pacific power neglected to maintain the power lines and it cause the Slater fire that torn thought Northern California and Southern Oregon. My daughter has nightmares for months because of the fires. I hope they win.
Such a great movie from a beautiful actress. That burn is epic.
That lawyer lady made a big mistake, huge
And then what? Went back to shopping???🤣🤣
@@bailodescalza Yeah, to get some better looking shoes LOL
I have watched some of these scenes so many times that I've memorized them. Julia was at her peak beauty and she nailed every scene she was in (and she was in every scene!).
It's not often people are presented with an opportunity to put someone so firmly in their place as they look down on you. If you get this chance, take it
When the Movie Industry and the TV one's do Such conclusively Great jobs. Bringing Such True Stories into Our Lives. I Personally think it is just Fantastically Wonderful and Heart lifting too Experience. THANKS for Sharing.
The real Erin brockovich used colorful language and tough
_Twenty_ years old on March 14, 2020. Those decades really flew by.
Such a great movie & made me love her even more.
i said this to a girl who said "i think we got off on the wrong foot..."
unfortunately she laughed at me for being a copycat lol
This is the sexiest and smartest best role ever played by Julia Roberts fight me!
Classic FANTASTIC OUT OF THIS WORLD movie. Julia!!!! Incredible movie!!!!!! LOL.. that last line though.
Brilliant film, watched it again last night. It's still brilliant. 👍👍
Ahhh 2000 the best year for movies and everything was jumping back then. Everyone was clapping in the movie theater with this scene. I am so glad that Julia Roberts won best actress. She and Meryl Streep worked together on another movie August Orange County.
Julia was nominated for best supporting actress.
That was a great movie as well. The chemistry between Roberts and Streep was like none other. Now I have to go watch it…lol. And not to be a nut buster because I’m sure it was a mistake but it was “Osage County.”
Yup, bad research if phone numbers were known but not anywhere to be found in the files.
Thank you.
Like why not also write the numbers down, its good and well that you know them by heart.
How many people do you know do?
....did she just glance down at her shoes?🤪🤣🤣🤣
The lawyer isn't even condescending, she's professional in how she approaches Erin and that the documents are incomplete makes sense to fix. These are huge companies and if Erin did get sick or forget a number... they're risking a lot. It makes sense to have things well documented and it really isn't strange to ask. She asked respectfully too. What are they going to ask Erin whenever they need to call someone? That isn't in the least efficient.
@Mirjam Heijn
I tend to agree. The lady was just asking questions in a polite manner, but Erin (as portrayed in the film) immediately took umbridge.
Well sure but this lady is a representation of the corporate bullshit that Erin has to consider, considering this is her life and she wont let just anyone take over
I agree
It was the tone of voice on Theresa that set off Erin..
That was the difference between someone “doing their job” and someone actually doing THE WORK
Oh. And Erin has dyslexia, so writing wasn’t the best record keeping mechanism available to her.
A simple request for numbers by Theresa in the first place would have made things simpler. Not assumptions made.
@@Alusnovalotus Who hurt you?
Exactly lol, if you know the phone numbers why didn’t you include them in the client files??? 🙄 women amirite?
@@alexG106 You have to ask since you know nothing about women. lol
I really like how the two male Lawyers look back at each other like in an intense game of Chest. I think Ed got the Checkmate. :D
It was nice how the male colleague didn’t rush in to defend the female lawyer. She stepped in that bear trap all on her own.
Kayleahful "I really like how the two male Lawyers look back at each other like in an intense game of Chest"
Yes folks...CHEST...LOL
0:21 Best line lol
I mean it's great she knows all that info by heart but it should really be in the files. She's not going to be around every second of the day to answer questions. I'm actually on the stick-up-her-but lawyer's side here.
The point wasn't whether it was in the files or not, the point was that *ERIN* knew them as *people* not just numbers.
Pendejo she was at every one of those meetings and court proceedings.
Half this movie is Julia Roberts yelling at people and Albert Finney smirking fiendishly
0:48 Erin: TRY ME..!!
Sooooo good! One of her all time best roles for sure.
Makes me want to watch the movie again!
My favorite Julia Roberts flick. Seen it a dozen or more times over the years.
Yep, and me, so I did, last night. 😊
That was Julia Roberts film, no other could have done this great job.
Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon, Meryl, Viola Davis ignoring the race, many can pull this off actually..
The role was good and content was strong..
That was me when I was a paralegal knew my cases inside and out
By far, probably the best burn ever caught on film.
I certainly wouldn't tell them their shoes are ugly and get an attitude. I worked with an Erin type person at the firm and she loved doing things her own way, not the firms, and argued about it all the time. She didn't last long.
@@Kaboomboo I’ve had two. And that’s why it’s annoying that they’d be portrayed as entitled and condescending. Let’s remember this is a movie and she’s not a real lawyer and was written that way for the sake of the film. But thanks for that input. I’m glad to see other’s experiences with lawyers is nowhere near this.
@@Alusnovalotus yeah that's true. I do have to remember it's just a movie. I'm sure a lot of this, even this scene, is just theatrics. But it just frustrates me that people think this is how "tough" people operate and that it's good. Erin had 3 kids and 3 ex husbands. She was rude and abrasive and unprofessional in this movie and I am darn sure if anyone acted this way IRL they'd never get a call back. Certainly not asked up come back to work.
@@Kaboomboo I agree with you Just recently saw the movie and while I think Julia is a good actress, I never liked how Erin Treated people , I didn't care for her, I thought something was wrong with me for feeling that. I my opinon I don't think the lady was trying to be rude, but just wanted to make sure all their i were dotted and t crossed. But because she already had a hate of lawyers she already saw them as bad. That is why I loved what Ed told her after they left the meeting, to me Erin was out of line. being rude to well education and rich people is not cool. As ed Said Erin does not know what that lawyer had to go through to pay her way through law school, I mean you have to make a lot of sacrifice to get a law degree. Bottom line it does not matter if you are blue collar or white collar all people must be treated with respect, but that is just me
Her poor boss never knows what she's gonna say!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Love her lines in this movie and love her line in PrettyWoman in the clothing store
I still feel that burn 21 years later.
