For me the point of the game is creating my own tactics. Downloading tactics that utilise the flaws in the match engine for me is not enjoyable. But each to their own. Good content

I've been running a Custom tiki-taka positive 4231 with Arsenal. Depending on matchup, I'll change it to Attacking/Balanced. Started season great, then started a terrible slump and was threatened to be fired. I managed to buy myself a month to prove myself. Now back up to 6th and just beat City in the Carabao. Beat Liverpool twice in the league. Brought in Everton (Gremio) and Upamecano in January, awesome signings. Also sold Mustafi to fund Everton transfer. My younger players have also been balling, Martinelli, Nelson, Willock have crazy stats per appearance. I've only been playing FM for a week, I'm still learning a lot everyday as this game is crazy deep. I can't believe I didn't get into it sooner. Trying desperately to crack top four, it's insane in the EPL though. Still 10 games to go. My biggest weakness is going against defensive teams, I haven't setup a two striker system, I probably should do that asap, just not sure if there's enough time for familiarity.

This is a great idea that was unfortunately compromised by the spamming of tactics from a handful of creators using similar instructions and formations.
and they all abuse the gegenpressing preset which has been broken since FM19. it allows you to play completely unfeasible and crazy offensive setups with little defensive cover and get away with it because gegenpressing is too powerful, which is what allows these tactics to perform so well. remove that crutch and these tactics start dropping like flies because they're too flimsy at the back

Problem is, changing those player roles totally changes the tactics, right? I'm sure I'm not alone in not having the exact right players to fit the roles required - so would need an entire new squad. Or am I missing something?
I happen to believe that a perfect FM tactic is akin to the white whale. That is, a legendary creature that may or may not exist, but some claim to have found or seen.
My tactic is good but the striker gets 5-6 clear cut chances every match and either pulls them wide or hits them straight against the opposing keeper. I think this, Long through balls, and full backs refusing to cross the ball are all surely bugs in the game??
@@stephenperry4638 player preferred moves. You can train players with new ones or train to remove an existing one in the individual player training screen, it's under the physical attributes column. Hope that helps, and it's not being thick, it's just not knowing which is different 👍
My 532 gegenpress was causing me issue's, I was so inconsistent I was beginning to think about binning it off, and now I have. My old trusted 4132 DM narrow is working a charm at the moment.. I use minimal commands thought. Still using GP, but have dropped both lines of engagement to standard; p7, w5 D2. GS20 GC5. Including man utd and Arsenal games. Playing with WHU
Seems like all successful tactical setups in FM have to have High D-Line, High LoE, Counter, Counter press, Offside Trap, Tight Marking, Pass into Space and Work Ball Into Box. Makes the game really boring for me and shows the match engine to be flawed IMO.
For real. It’s insanely dull. On some saves I actually prohibit myself from using those instructions (specifically: High line + LOE, closing down, counter press) because of how overpowered it is.
When they test games how do they test the players actually playing the game ie if your tactic is amazing but requires very specific players to play a role how would that work?
Hey I need your help! I love to play the 4-1-2-3 tactic, so I went on to find the Best tactic for this formation. But my players do not really suit the players instructions of the tactic. Do you think changing them is gonna ruin the tactic or is it ok? And should you always trust the system or do you need to change it up from time to time? Any advice regarding tactics would be much appreciated (I manage Leeds)
IMO there's no way to "test" a tactic. There's far too many variables that go into it to say that it's your tatcic that you're testing. There's no way this would pass as a scientific test in science because of the variables. And as for tactics, there's also no "best" tactic, again it totally depends on your players, shoehorning players into roles that don't suit them isn't gonna work, you have to work with the players you've got and build a tactic around them.
it would be good to be able to separate them into attacking/counter/possession. I love possession tactics but most of the good ones looks like attacking

I based my tatic in FM19 from a youtuber called bustthenet. I won the PL 10 times in a row and it works decent in FM20 as well. Let me know if I can upload somewhere. I think the secret to the tatic I used is only to buy very specific players for each player. It probably won't work if you just go buy any player
Best tactic... Statistics for tactic. analyzes for tactic.... Zealand U already do know there is no best tactic... Some work better for one kind of players others work great for other types of players... Some work better for top team some work better for mid table team, and some works bet for bottom of the table teams...

Attacking 442 is killing it for me this year. Almost too OP. Winning league 2 with a national league quality side

I’ve been making like 30 shots a game and 6/7 clear cut chances and getting beat 3-0 by shaktar with Liverpool :/

Train 'Likes to round keeper' PPM, I had the same problem but now my striker is banging them in. No more wide or shots directly at the keeper.
