The speed is just unreal. Not only are they the best ever, but they were definitely the fastest team ever as well. Insane amount of talent on this squad.
Portis said that while, he, Willis and Najeh were at Miami, Frank was the best. He had an amazing career but you wonder how much better it could have been had he not torn both his ACLs.
Dorsey or Portis should have won the heisman that year with mcgahee next year. Love how you edit these. Awesome to relive memories. Thank you canefreak2001
That O-Line is overlooked. Portis, Gore, and McGahee were GREAT, GREAT RBs but the holes that O-Line opened were incredible and their pass protection was amazing. O-Line was just as awesome as the rest of that team. 2001 Canes = G.O.A.T.
The trenches rarely get the love it deserves. A top-10 overall pick in McKinnie at LT anchoring the line and a bunch of pros that had solid careers in the NFL and CFL too.

"Gore is off to the races again"!!! Gore was like the 14th guy you had to worry about on that team, and he gets about 600 yds on 2 carries in this game. This team was beyond absurd.
Clinton Portis runs like he’s generating speed from a jet in his back not from his legs. He’s so fast he looks like his legs can’t even keep up with him. See how many times he ends up tripping on himself when he gets to such a high speed he can’t keep up with his own velocity. Insane.
U had Andre Johnson as the 3th reciever begin Santana moss and Reggie Wayne a couple years before .frank gore and Willis were backups and we shut shut Dwight freeny down best team ever
The SEC and the assholes at FSU/Florida have been plucking players from the State of Miami for the past decade, plus Miami needs to win more to increase recruitment
What a great team, they had so many playmakers at every position on the field! I can really see the difference in talent at Miami now, as opposed to the '01 team. It's a joke in comparison. But I'm seeing this team getting better and better! That team is so much faster than our current squad! One of the first thing that Richt said after watching some practice is that our team needs to get faster. You can't coach speed!
Man, when you watch these videos you forget just how FAST we were. We are getting back to the glory days, but when you realize that there will more than likely never be another team like this one, it makes you really appreciate how special these guys were.
Really and some people must be crazy not thinking this is the greatest COLLEGE TEAM EVER just look at the players that played in in the NFL all of them in that team WOW it probably would never happen again
Another Pasqualoni blow out...as good as he did, these epic blowouts were the reason he is remembered as just an ok coach with a really good record...thank God for Dino Babers!!!!!
I have never in all the years I’ve been watching college football for over 40 years seen a team as a loaded as this team. Not Alabama not LSU not USC this was the best. And remember they rebuilt this team after severe NCAA sanctions that most programs would’ve never recovered from they should’ve played Oklahoma for national championship. And then got screwed out of a national championship because of a bad call
An impressive win, and it wasn't against a tomato can- Syracuse was #15 and 8-2 going into this game and had double-digits wins that year. The 2001 Hurricanes played a lot of respectable teams- they weren't beating up on just tomato cans.
Where's the highlights of Syracuse vs Miami in 1998 where McNabb and Syracuse torched Edgerrin James and Miami for the Big East Championship to go to the Orange Bowl?! Syracuse 66 Miami 13.
@Fynest305 You mean the same guy that a percentage of 'Cane fans want fired? The same guy who's defense as of last week has only given up 3 touchdown drives. 2 of the TD drives were from 20 yards or less no doubt. The speed is just unreal. Not only are they the best ever, but they were definitely the fastest team ever as well. Insane amount of talent on this squad.
Well put
I remember this Miami team, only one word comes to mind, UNSTOPPABLE!!!!
The best team ever played
What’s wild about this is Frank Gore stayed hurt in college while Portis and Mcgahee thrived. But in the pros Gore lasted longer than both of them 🥵
Crazy!
Portis said that while, he, Willis and Najeh were at Miami, Frank was the best. He had an amazing career but you wonder how much better it could have been had he not torn both his ACLs.
I think you forgot Willis had his knee snapped in half and never had the same speed; still was a solid NFL back tho
Damn Portis, Gore and Davenport....this squad was loaded.
Keena30212 we were some what loaded from 2011-2014 but the Fucking coaching
And Willis McGahee
Vilma, Sean Taylor, sikes, d.j Williams, vince wilford,
@@brayden3474 wilfork not wilford lol

Little Havana looks so much better with the Orange Bowl at 1:01. That new spaceship thing does not belong there.
Hard to believe Syracuse had a chance to win the Big East Title and got shut out 59-0 but thats how good this canes team was!!

Andre Johnson was the fifth receiver behind Reggie Wayne, Santana Moss, Darryl Jones, and Andre King.
portis had deceptive speed and crazy quick feet! Bryant mckinnie buried Dwight freeney all game! lol
S/O to Bryant Mckinnie for clamping Freeney

Santana Moss, Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson as WR
With Portis at RB and Shockey at TE!
Dorsey had the best weapons ever as a QB...
Santana Moss and Reggie Wayne were definitely canes, not sure they were on this team. I'll have to check.

To put some perspective on this game:
Syracuse started 0-2 and won 10 of their last 11.
This was their only loss after the 0-2 start
watching this game I can see why syracuse came to hate the canes so much...these beatings continued for the most part.
The best college football team ever. I think that they could beat the worst NFL team ever the 08 Lions, due to the amount of depth the Canes had.
Lol antrel rolle was a 3rd string safety. Thats just ridiculous.
And gore was third string Sean Taylor was second string... 2001 Miami truly the GOAT
Dude Buchannon went OFF in this game. This team is soo fast. Frank Gore was kicking it on that run.
If Frank Gore doesn't tear his ACL, we'd have never even heard of Willis McGahee.
Totally true....Gore beat him out that year
And out of the 3 of them Gore turned out to have the longer and better career...definitely a Hall of Famer..
#2 was the best of them on the college level imo
McGahee then tore his knee
Frank gore stays healthy we probably win 3 rings easily
Greatest Freakin College Team Ever Hands Down. 2001 MIAMI HURRICANES!!!!!
Everyone better remeber this. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE U.
The greatest college football team ever not even close
I remember watching this game and looking forward to seeing the matchup between Freeney and McKinney(sp?).
I remember my elementary school went to that game. That was a fantastic game!!
gotta say as a die hard U fan for over 30 years.....awesome posts, thoroughly enjoyed them.
I love these videos my man. Next game was Washington, and I CANNOT WAIT for those highlights. Thanks for the memories.
Do you have any footage of their undefeated 1987 season?
Miami hammered ranked teams like me in NCAA 14 lol
Is it me or did every touchdown Miami made there was either a flag thrown for excessive celebration or a ref saying something, because God damn lol
@jefrenual ok now put that 1998 Syracuse team vs the 2001 Miami Hurricanes
2001 best team ever! How bout them Canes!
#31 was a beast in this game
And that's how overrated syracuse always is. Nothing but crap from all the sportscasters they continuously belch out.

love the highlights. Glad you got the pushup bit in at the end

this team was so ridiculous every part of it
@lilpaniagua07 2001 Canes would win by at least 2 TD. LSU is a very good team, but 2001 Miami is the best CFB team in the 21st century
He’ll take it to the BARN!!!!!
Would have liked to see this team go against LSU 2019 who supposedly had the best offense ever.
To think that Frank Gore, was backing up Clinton Portis.....🤔 Who would have thought of what was to come?
You know you got beat bad when your MVP Is an O Lineman! Hahaha Damn Syracuse!! They all partied hard when we went to the ACC!
