I started streaming two weeks ago and I have 56 followers. A good tip for new streamers is to make friends in the chat and other streamers in small communities *before* you start streaming.
I befriended a streamer who had 20k followers who was kind enough to shout out my channel. The friends I made from that channel came over and now I have 10-15 regulars per stream. Chat interaction is SO important and that's how you convert visitors into followers/regulars.

I think the biggest difference between having 5 or 10 viewers compared to 0 viewers is that when I'm browsing stuff I don't want to go into a stream with 0 viewers because if I load the stream up, and I'm not enjoying it, I feel like such a dick leaving because I'm the only viewer. Or even more awkward is joining and being the only one in chat you almost feel obligated to say something...

I see your point... But sometimes what happens is, if you only see someone playing a game without chatting with someone, they may act or talk in a certain way; but if you say something and prompt them to talk, you can discover a whole new side to them..

Why does youtube still have "I'm live on twitch" links if they are competing? o_o

Mentioning Adam and Steven as "new viewers" is kind of a false statement. Both may have been streaming more independently as of late, but they have both been streaming for years. They have been streaming through JP's channel, gaining a following through rollplay. Before they even started streaming on their own channels, they already had an audience, skipping the whole first stage of streaming (when you're an unknown).

I will never, ever understand why people (like Cohh in that instance) tell people to buy stuff like the razor microphone. If you google that for 5 seconds you find that razor bought the mic and just re-labeled it. Which makes sense for them as they have no real experience in mics. BUT and that is the big but.. the mic is MORE expansive then the original and has less features (no monitor headphone out).
Btw, it is a Yeti Pro that is the original. As I said just google it and you find it (razer seiren clone -> image search) and it shows you the images and comparison.
So if you like that mic, go for the original, save money and get more for it..

I can totally see what you're saying. Not sure if any of these guys are sponsored by Razer, but they sponsor quite a few streamers. If so, they might be required to say that to keep getting free stuff. Nevertheless, beginning streamers should do their research.

Yes. Razor one is 180$ without the monitor port, the original Yeti Pro (same hardware except for that missing port and the razor sticker..) is 130$ (both amazon.com).

+DerSchmuseTigger on the other hand, he/they might just not know that there are better mikes for less money :)
I kinda get the feeling that Cooh, JP and Zeke would atleast notify us when they are obliged to say something about sponsors.

+DerSchmuseTigger I agree with you, no point in paying extra if you don't have to. Just mentioning that some streamers get sent equipment for free (like Strippin said).

Yes. And I don't mind if they say it openly (as they have to with the rules for advertisement).
But for your viewers especially for a show about "how to stream" they should really give a service to the viewers and not to they advertisement partners and so on.
But just my 2 cents anyhow

Talking about nicks; anyone know what JP stands for? Or is it something he doesn't want public?

Strippin was a terrible choice of a guest to choose, he already had a community of 500,000 Subscribers. Should of found someone smaller with 10-20k.

+Daniel Parker Sorry for such a late reply, but I have to add on to your comment. Strippin also never had to do the true beginner streamer/youtuber thing, as he was automatically affiliated with the Yogscast, one of the most watched groups here on TH-cam.
