    As we go through life things change. My first date with my wife was to a motocross race in the mid 70’s, that day I won both of my races and the love of my life . I use to listen to this song and Riding the Storm out to get pumped up on the way to the races. What an amazing song!!!!!. My wife passed away last year after 45 years and now I listen to this song every day just to keep going. Back then it was to pump me up, now it’s an anthem for survival.

    This band is a legend. They've been rocking for 40 years +. How many bands can you say that about? Very few. They sound great and look good. I saw them at Wolf Trap with Pat Benatar. It was an amazing show. There is nothing sad about this absolutely unbelievable classic rock band. If Cronin read what you wrote about them, he'd laugh in your ugly face. He's an incredible song writer and when he gets an idea for a song, he throws it to his band and they are like a pack of wolves

    Absolutely Love R.E.O. Speedwagon!! I saw them in 1978 in Waterloo, IA, 1981, Cedar Falls, IA, 1982 at St.Louis, MO, 1984 in Ames, IA, 1986 in Des Moines, IA, and again at The Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA Feb, 2014. Amazing!! Dave Amato is very, very, good. However, I don't think there is a true REO fan who won't agree with me that Gary Richrath was the driving force behind this band. Damn that guy could Play!!. I was fortunate enough to meet Gary in Cedar Falls, IA at a small night club in 1988. Cronin had already fired Gary, {but let's not open that can of worms}, and my wife and I had tickets to the show that night. We were out cruising the strip in the afternoon, and I said, you know, lets stop at Shagnasty's, and check out the stage, and have a beer. So we did, and just as soon as we walked in the door, here is Gary, and two guys walking out. I shook his hand, and said "Hi Gary, See ya at the show tonight". He said "Cool, Nice meeting you. I Got his autograph at the concert. Gary was the best. But here we are in 2018. The last new material from REO was in 2009. Almost 10 years. When!!!....When!!!, Are we gonna hear some new music??? They are getting old, and they still have it, but they also have the potential to put out one ass kickin album. Do it for Gary!!. Who's with me on this???. Keep Pushin!!!

    When I was eight years old REO was one of the first Rock bands I ever heard. They had just released their first double album LIVE. Now I am closing on 48 and they still got it. I caught that at Memphis Bot Gardens about 18 months ago. So here they were playing for us, a small crowd compared to what they pulled in a few years back. Irregardless they were loose, relaxed, & treated the show as if they where playing in a huge arena. They Rocked Hard, poor Pat Benatar never had a chance.

    I like singing this song for the line, "I finally feel like a man, oh, yes I do!" and that SS roll at the outro.
    I don't recall seeing this guy play, but the fluidity in his wrists where it looks like he's waving at someone lying on the floor, makes perfect sense in how the outro full is executed now.

    They still kick butt! I would go to see Styx with them but ended up loving them better! They surprised me how great they are live! I got to meet them too! my friend drove the bus for them. He left me surprise vip meet and greet passes. They asked me who I knew and when I told them Kevin said “oh yea Floyd is part of the family”! I heard some great stories about how nice they are and I found it out to be very true! I got pictures with them and autographs. So I took my husband a few years later she. I one tickets and he loved them too live! A great motivational song! “Keep pushing on”!!❤️🎼

    Say what ya want about K.C. and reo speedwagon I've heard the good the bad and the ugly, in my opinion their aren't too many bands out there that rock as hard as they do and for so many years. Love the high positive energy that they bring to the table. Or should I say stage. Sure I'll always miss Gary and Alan but hey these guys with Dave and Bryan still rock

    @VHSarchive What ever dude. Keep listening to your music and stay out of the 80s. Stay in the dark. But remember this. REO and the like were the bands the are the building blocks of everything after them. They were huge and still doing what they love. They pour their heart and soul out on that stage. They are getting up there. Don't knock em please.

      @bsoloist12 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      azguitar finally someone who is a player who GETS IT! Dave is awesome so was Gary may God Rest his soul! But in terms of technical ability Gary couldn't carry Amato's guitar case. I think Gary would have blossomed more if he would have left the booze alone

    Killer performance as always I have seen them twice and I love Dave Amato! Outstanding guitarist PERIOD!

    • @billybob3858
      @billybob3858 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amato sucks since he became the lead guitarist their biggest selling album was Christmas carols.

    • @bsoloist12
      @bsoloist12 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Billy Bob and how does he suck then? Amato is a killer guitarist and a great singer in his own right he is on many albums Little Miss Dangerous and If you Can't lick em lick em by Ted Nugent which he played guitar and sang lead vocals on and sang the high backup vocals on the Motley Crue Albums Girls Girls girls, and Dr. Feelgood he was brought in to sing them cause Vince couldn't hit the notes. Question do you even play guitar? He is technically proficient, and is not sloppy when he plays he is a clean player who plays tastefully and is diverse and can bring the heat when it's needed so tell me again how and why he sucks.

    • @billybob3858
      @billybob3858 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      So playing back up to Ted Nugent makes you the white Jimi Hendrix. He sucks if he was good he wouldn't be a vocal back up to Kevin love ballad Cronin who fights to keep his dentures in. He did not play guitar for Motley he again did backup work. What has he done on his own? NOTHING he is a backup period and sucks.

    • @bsoloist12
      @bsoloist12 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Billy Bob once again your dodging what I said, I never said he was the white Jimi Hendrix and when your a session musician that's what you do, what ever the artist pays you to do i would know I have done many sessions all being a lead guitar player but still played in my own band. Stating that he sucks because he isn't a solo act is just ignorant and not even acknowledging that he can play and is on tour every night making money doing what he loves that's all that matters. Ya see it seems to me if you were a guitar player you would see where I was coming from since you did not even acknowledge that question I can't really speculate. Look at Tommy Thayer you going to say he sucks cause he took someone's place on kiss just like Dave took Gary's place. There are tons of examples here of this. People hate on Dave cause he replaces Gary by the way was a great guitarist and may he Rest In Peace but when a new guy shows up people automatically slam him cause they live in the past and really and truly The best guitar work Richrath did was Roll with the changes and riding the storm out. Then Gary gets kicked out for his drug and alcohol issues. Dave comes in and boom individuals like yourself slam him cause he isn't Gary but people did the same thing to Sammy Hagar in Van Halen. You cannot ignore the talent there and if he sucks so bad ide like you to name me another guitarist who is better in the same genre backup or not you cannot deny the talents and technical capabilities the man possess and saying he sucks for no reason is just arrogant out of anyone.

    REO Speedwagons were not just fire trucks, they were made in a variety of models. And motorized vehicles like the Ford Model T and the Christie front wheel drive tractor were used for fire vehicles years before the Speedwagon was.

    That's right Cronin, it's me again - Mr. Little Black Raincloud. You may fool some folks Cronin, but not us Richrath fans. You come off as this freindly, smilin, folk singer when all you really are is a snake in the grass! You 'KILLED' REO when you kicked Gary out!!!

  • @dweezeltheyounger
    @dweezeltheyounger 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nobody starts a tune and then starts a speech at the intro - Cronin flubbed up. And yes - a 1/2 step down because he doesn't have the wind anymore. He's singing this like it's a lullaby. They shouldn't have it in the lineup at all if they're gonna peel it. Their guitar player isn't half the player Richrath was. Sad really - I used to like this band.

    • @bananadanna386
      @bananadanna386 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Half the player? Actually, what's sad is you don't know much about guitar talent...I feel bad that music isn't your expertise. Hang in there and, one day, you'll realize how talented Amato is. Good luck and one day you'll understand. Sorry that you've got so far to go.

    • @dweezeltheyounger

      Banana Danna You're able to tell how much I know about guitar talent and music from one comment about a washed up musician that was never that great in the first place? Crap, you should be on Conan or Fallon's show since you're so smart. You're wasting time posting on these blogs! One question: Do you have anything substantive to say, or do you just complain about opinions that don't agree with yours?
