Thanks for your work Clau, what a finals, I think it's the most "intellectual" Quake 4 duel I've seen, also funny to compare with nowadays tox's gameplay on QC, you can clearly see how his gamestyle is specific to that game and a time that doesn't exist anymore, very interesting to see him evolving and reaching some kind of limits.
hidden treasure, instant subscribe. btw, would you consider to include CMPA also in the future? it's a well loved and craziest branch of quake imo, that would be perfect.
Hi! Thanks a lot for uploading these! It's always a blast to see these players pushing the game through its limits when it was new and relevant! Also, I got a copy of the game in Steam, but of course the typical issues to launch it on new hardware, do you have any recommendations to play on newer hardware? Thanks in advance!
Hi, I dont have issues startng the game on Steam, but I'm also still on Windows10. The only thing I can think of, is to do a clean re-install of the game. Or delete the "Quake4Config.cfg" config file from "steamapps\common\Quake 4\q4base" Or you can open that .cfg file with Notepad and change these values: seta r_customHeight "Hight rezolution of your monitor" ex: "1080" seta r_customWidth "Width rezolution of your monitor" ex: "1920" seta r_fullscreen "1" seta r_displayRefresh "0" seta r_mode "-1" seta r_aspectRatio "1" Save the file and start the game.
Could you go into greater detail how you make these when there's commentary involved? Where do you download all these demo files and the commentary files? I'd like to download them to have a copy on my own hard drive as it seems a lot of these are becoming lost to time.
Some of the commentary files I downloaded back in the day and some are from TH-cam. Most of the demo-files I downloaded are from demos.igmdb.org/ and www.esreality.com/?a=demos But the Quake demos on the igmdb site seems to be missing right now. Maybe they are going to be back online in the near future, as I read on this thred: www.esreality.com/post/2969017/demos-archive/ There seem to be a pack-file that contains most of the Quake demos here: archive.org/details/demos.igmdb.org Quake 3 and QuakeLive demos can be also downloaded from here: trance.gg/Quake-demos/ Quake2 demos are from here: demos.q2players.org/competitions QuakeWorld demos you can get here, but these are newer/new-school ones: badplace.eu/demos/
I recorded the video at 3200x1800 rezolution and these are the values in the q4 cfg file for the gun viewmodel: seta ui_showGun "1" seta g_gunViewStyle "0" seta g_gunZ "-2" seta g_gunY "0" seta g_gunX "1.5" seta g_fov "100"

Thanks for bringing these to us, love seeing it. Was great to see tox reappear in the QPL.
fuck yeah! stermy rails in 2nd game are crazy
I love that you always keep uploading these high quality videos. Is there a version of this final with commentary though? I'd love to watch that.
And I would have loved to make that version of this video, but sadly, I could not find the audio files of that commentary :(
