    Great video! Could you have just loosen the torsion bars to set the ride height instead of spindles?

    • @VikingHill83
      @VikingHill83  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was just loosening the torsion bars. You have to take the key off to change its angle. I wish I had just bought spindles for the truck instead lol. Later I bought some djm lower control arms that lowered it a lot more

    Just crank the adjusters down 2 inches (equals three inches of drop). Take out the bump stops and cut them down. Then take out the thick shims from the upper A-arm. If you ever decide to sell the truck then it's easily returned to the stock position.DO NOT CUT THE BUMP STOP PERCHES FROM THE FRAME. Lowering a 89-94 Toyota does NOT require cutting any metal or removing the torsion keys.

    Hey, nice video. I just broke my upper control mounted on chessis. What could be the reason? Does over size shocks can do harm Or over tighten Torsion bar?

      Did you hit a pot hole do you live in the rust belt lots of things could be the reason hard to say but going to the junk yard to get new parts is easy and cheap you broke the top one or bottom one

    • @VikingHill83
      @VikingHill83  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. They are your springs you must have them

    • @Stylensky
      @Stylensky 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +HillCloathing WRONG, If the suspension is lowered so far that it is bottomed out then it makes no difference if the bars are there or not.

    • @VikingHill83
      @VikingHill83  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Stylensky lol you shouldnt take them out. and the reason I remove the keys the way I do then reinstall them is so there is spring tension even though there isn't much travel.

      The same way I lowered it but instead of using the jack to raise the tire you just let the tires hang when you put the key back on and tighten the bolts

    I have a 90 toy V6 extended cab with 93225 miles, it was parked for 15 years, I got it with 88000 miles, it's super clean California truck, clean under carriage, my question is , why do trucks with torsion bars squeak under load when making turns with steering wheel maxed either left or right, I had a daihatsu rocky with the same squeaky sound, any tips? THANX

    • @VikingHill83
      @VikingHill83  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's more than 1 thing that can cause that. Body mounts
      Ball joints
      Dirt where the grease points are on the torsion bars.
      There's lots of stuff that can make a truck squeeze some times brand new polyurethane bushings squeeze

    what kind of wheels you have on the rear? if you don't mind me asking..

  • @RussellShales
    @RussellShales 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a quick question. So I have a 94 Mazda b2300 with I believe torsion bars, it is currently stock. So if I want to lower it I just do what you did right? at least without having to spend money

    • @VikingHill83
      @VikingHill83  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Russell Shales if it's torsion bars then yup

    • @RussellShales
      @RussellShales 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff ok cool. yea I'm pretty sure it's torsion bars.

    • @VikingHill83
      @VikingHill83  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Russell Shales you can tell if it's torsion bars cause you won't see coil Springs behind the front wheels

    • @RussellShales
      @RussellShales 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeff ok yea i haven't looked totally yet. I'm trading my civic for it. I should be going to put a new slave cylinder in it tomorrow. And and hopefully gonna lower it too. tha ts the plan

  • @kainalu9402

    To raise my truck, will I have to spin the torsion bar?

    • @VikingHill83
      @VikingHill83  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      to raise your truck do the opposite of what I did. put your truck in the air on jack stands. loosen the torsion keys let the front wheels hang remove the keys and leave a bigger gap than originally there put the nut and bolt on and tighten them all the way

    • @kainalu9402

    • @VikingHill83
      @VikingHill83  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll need the factory rude height once you have that you can measure your front end and raise or lower the tortion keys

    • @VikingHill83
      @VikingHill83  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do what I did and use the jack to set the front wheel where you want it then set the tension it's fairly simple

      There's more than 1 way to skin a cat...

    • @Stylensky
      @Stylensky 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +HillCloathing But sometimes people want their "skinned cats" to be put back in the stock form. The way you did it destroyed part of the frame and severely devalued the vehicle.

    • @VikingHill83
      @VikingHill83  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Stylensky I lowered my truck more than if you had just simply loosened the torsion keys and if you left the bump stops in you would be riding around on them. the frame itself became the bump stop and I left the rubber pad bolted to the control arm. no Toyota were injured during the filming of this video lol
