I remember watching your videos when I was a student being soooooo scared & now I’m almost 2 years graduated (still scared) ahahahaha but, love watching your daily vlogs 🫶
I'm sooooo proud of you!! I remember that too. Oh how time flies. It's okay to still be scared, I get scared often too.. but the confidence will build. I promise!!! Thank you for still being here and supporting.
Oh noo, scared of what? I’m curious!
@@shereennn clinicals.. scanning.. the whole thing tbh. It’s a lot but worth it :)
where did you graduated from? I am looking for one for myself.
How is it now? Is it better? I’m a student currently & im nervous about everything 😢 my professors are always saying stuff like “this will be the hardest thing u will do” “this profession takes years for you to be good at” “this is not a easy job as you might think” i get it they’re being straightforward and not trying to sugarcoat it but it just makes me more nervous.
I don’t know if you remember me 😭 but I was in your discord around 2020 to become a sonographer , I ended up going to school for respiratory therapy because it took less time and I’m not as happy as I would’ve been had I did ultrasound, now I’m back to square one and starting to get ready for the program 🙏🏾 I also didn’t think I was smart enough for ultrasound but now I have faith in myself
hi love, it's okay everyone's personal journey to sonography is different - what matters is you're doing what you believe is your calling. so glad you're getting ready for the program, you're always welcome back to the discord!!! I have faith in you!
I’m trying to get enrolled to start prereqs for this! I’m so scared but I want this SO bad. Prayers please! ❤
you got this don't give up!!!!
Don't be Scared. You can do it. I remember what it was like as well but it all starts with taking the first step. But be prepared, it isn't easy; it will require a lot from you but its incredibly rewarding when you get to where you want to be. Good Luck! And of course, watch all of Geselle's videos and others who share about and are great resources for the profession.
You sound like me, nervous but so ready to succeed. WE got this!
I’ll be starting school on April 1st
I have my last semester of pre reqs but my chances of getting in is slim since my college only takes 16/75 ish applicants every fall 😭
1:40 kudos to the custodians. That floor is waxedddd🙌
they're amazing!
This was such an amazing, amazing video!! I love watching your videos, because I am definitely interested in the field, and I didn’t know about it until I became pregnant! However, your videos definitely inspire me keep up the work!
Awww hi hun! Thanks so much for watching. That makes me so happy!!! Appreciate the support! 💖
Thank you for this! ❤
Thank you for watching!!!❤❤❤
Thank You Geselle for Sharing yet another great video. I would hate having to go get the patients myself but I do understand that thats how it often is in the hospital setting. I think it would be best to scan on portable machines with wireless probes in some cases.
thank you so much for watching.. and yes that's typically the case in the ER. Many hospitals do not have wireless probes but they do have portable machines for the inpatients.
i love these videos!
hehe yay thank you for watching!!
Can’t wait to graduate ❤
yay you're almost there!!!!
so cool ♥
thank you for watching!
I am really considering entering this field. I am still trying for physical therapy school this year but it'll cost me a lot just to retake classes to get my GPA up. I'm gonna try but if this doesn't happen by this year then I'm going to enter the sonography program at the hospital that I work at or a college. I'm really looking for something I would feel comfortable doing for the remainder of my life. I'm 56 years old and have been working in the ER for over 18 years. I feel burnt out and need a change. I have my BS in biology and making pocket change as a salary. I need to make better money so that I can afford to pay my loans and live comfortably.
thank you so much for watching!!! good luck, I hope you find out if sonography is for you! appreciate the support!
@@lolgeselle Thank you. I just gotta take the TEAS and the HESI so this way whichever school needs either one I'll have it done.
It's so crazy that I've been a volunteer there for 2 years and we've never worked a shift together 😂😂😂 omg!
omg I know what the heck !!! hopefully we can be coworkers one day ;) thank you for still continuing to support the channel my love!
Cool👍
Thank you for watching!🥰
Great video!
thanks so much for your support girly, you're so close to 1k!!! EEK! keep it up, your videos are awesome!!
@@lolgeselle aww thank you so much! 🥹❤️
of course !!!
😍😍😍
🥰🥰🥰
👍👍👍
This was really informative. How long have you been doing ultrasound? I was wondering about musculoskeletal pain/problems. Have you experienced any and if so how do you deal
Thank you for watching! I’ve been doing it for 7 years now. I have had some and what I recommend is working out/ staying active, stretching, and getting massages!
How long is school for sonography? And can it vary? And nice video! Very informative 🫶🏼
it can be anywhere from 2-4+ years -- yes it varies -- and thank you so much for tuning in and watching!
Your storytelling are so good ❤ i really wanna edit your videos!!
Thank you!!
How do I make sure I find a reputable program and can ensure I find work afterwards? I did a phlebotomy program and it was a scam because I can't find any work without experience. So I would need a program with built in experience.
Another one!
heheheh, anothaaa oneeeee
Do you wheel your patient into your room yourself of is there an attendant or aid who helps with that?
Good question! We don't have aids and we do all of the transporting ourselves in the ER.
@@lolgeselle that sucks
I want to pursue this career but do you have to do 12 hour shifts?
there are 8,10,12 hour shifts! some hospitals have 4-6 hour shifts as well. it just depends on where you work and the type of position you hold!
Question here (sorry if it’s stupid i haven’t even started college yet) if there is a miscarriage do you have to be the person to tell them ?
thanks for asking! in the hospital setting we don't tell them, typically it's the doctor's that give the news to the patients. we have to tell them that they have to wait for the results from the doctor.
Is this something someone in their thirties could get into? I've come to realize that the office is not for me but Im sorta scared to go into something new in my mid thirites.
I’m currently in ultrasound school and there are other students in my program in their 30’s 40’s and even 50’s!!
Well, of course. The time is going to pass regardless. Might as well do something with it.
yes of course!! there are people like Emily said that are in their 30s,40s,50s as students. if this is something you want to pursue, reach for the stars!
agreed!
heck ya shoutout to you all
What happens if you're pregnant by chance? That would be difficult to push around the machine.
Um, the machine has wheels.. so no, it’s not. 70% of the sonographers are female. Pregnant techs do it all the time.
many Sonographers scan pregnant until their a few weeks out -- just be careful and don't work so hard ;)
Do you work with needles?
No
no, I do not! (for general/vascular at least) echo you might.
If you do US-guided biopsies when the needles are in your vicinity so to speak.
Do I need a college Degree for this?
you can get a college degree or a technical trade certificate / associates degree .. just depends on the route you choose and what history you have already!
Would i able to get employed as a sonographer as a sonographer if i use a cane and have chronic pain
No
that would be extremely difficult as you have to push machines and sometimes help patients onto gurneys etc. it is very taxing on the body and a physical job
