Hello Joe, Gift and David. I retired here a year and a half ago. I checked out Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand, and Thailand felt like home. It has good infrastructure, good medical, good food, affordable cost of living, great culture, and friendly people. I retied at 62 and have no regrets at all.

Just came across your channel for the first time. I spent winters in Thailand but have never been to PKK. Looks amazing for sure if you want a quiet life. Your polite manner and outlook definitely make you more suited to Thailand than many people from the west. I stopped travelling when covid happened and am starting to pine for winters in southeast Asia again. I like Thailand, but am leaning toward Vietnam at the moment. I have a few years of working left before I retire, but the seasonal nature of the work I do means I can spend a few months per year over there. May have to take a little trip to your area because it looks exceptional.
Joe I think you made the best decision ever , you now have the greatest lifestyle with the most beautiful kind woman ❤ all the best from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤😊
Hi you guys……Mike and Nicole………haven’t seen you for a while…(haven’t seen many, in a while). We’ve been busy at home….(here in Oregon), my husband is now completely immobile. His brain is working, his body quit. Learning experience for me and a fellow that’s helping. Thanks for the video!

Really liked this video Joe. You did the same research I did on cost-of-living, healthcare options, weather & general safety and checked all the boxes. I'll be retired there early '25.

Hi Joe & Gift, we arrived back in USA a week ago, our first visit back after being in Thailand 4 years, we are supposed to be here until December 1st but we are returning early, its hard to get use to USA again and its definitely not the same as when we left. I think we all did the right thing moving to Thailand and we will see you soon we hope

Well said brother! We are in the same boat (Medical, Infustructor, Safty, COLA).. I retired from the US ARMY 25 Yrs. HOOAH - Thank you for your service and DOD work. We moved from the Philippines after "trying" to live there for 5 years. We have a small home we built there ( so my wife will always have something when I pass away) like you you built something for your new bride. We chose Hua Hin as it have everything we were looking for. We spent 5 months in Bangkok - and its just not for us. The US is too expensive - though like you , we can afford to live there, but it would be tight and I couldnt live and travel as you do. Medical - We have TRICARE and it works great PLEASE HAVE PEOPLE ASK ME ABOUT TRICARE FOR LIFE AND TRICARE OVERSEA - I USE IT HERE IN THAILAND AND WOULD LOVE TO HELP OTHERS OUT - Stay blessed - continue to do your thing brother. Perhaps we could meet up someday- Kenny in Hua Hin
@@thaigirlgiftforeignerjoe7774 I was married to a Thai for 50 years then she passed away in May. This is in memory of her and there will be more. Thank you for the stories of you two. I followed you two from the beginning and there is no other couple that reminds me of my wife’s life and I. May you both have a terrific marriage and fulfill your love until the end God Bless both of you.
Joe, you one have to look at the gift god gave you, her name is ? Such a respectful, honest young lady she is, heart of gold ! Solar electricity is what you need Joe
Thank you Joe and Gift for the good video. I have been following you for a long time and your are a great guy and Gift a great lady. Cheers from Durban, South Africa
About your house - have a friend in Chiang Rai that also built a nice place. He started having drain problems in the fourth year . Monthly enzymatic treatment solved it. Just a very inexpensive safe liquid - 1 oz down each drain with warm water. Plumber said it’s a common problem .
Congratulations Joe 6 years, can’t believe it has gone by that fast. Bee and I are just about to celebrate our 36 wedding anniversary and my 45th year coming to and living in Thailand. Good advice to travel around Thailand first before you decide where to live, it took us 30 years of searching and traveling around Thailand before settling in Cha-am.
Enjoy watching your video as always and once again congratulations on your upcoming wedding in January…..You guys are awesome couple and deserve to be happy together
Joe, I love your thoughts on why you retired to Thailand. I've been travelling here regularly for about 15 years. After spending lots of time in BKK and Samui, I continue to be drawn to Hua Hin. While I'm not yet ready to retire (I'm 61), my transition to retirement superannuation is able to fund extended stays here. I am also fortunate enough to have a job that allows me to take leave without pay, each year. Thinking forward, I plan to retire when I have completed my dissertation (on Thai international schools) and been awarded my PhD.
Joe and Gift still living the dream . Keep it going because it doesn't last for ever . Unfortunately we all age i can look back on life and say where did it go . Our destiny in life is what we make it know one else is to blame . Enjoy it while you can .. 🙏🙏
Sitting here at Taiwan International Airport (TPE) on layover. Headed to the states for my mothers funeral. It's been three years since retiring here in Thailand. I came in on the "Phuket Sandox Scheme" (their title, not mine) and I have no regrets. I also have a plan "B". There are a few novelty items I miss about the US, but truly the only thing I miss are my children. Which I will see in about 15 hours. Great catching up on a video my friend. Am looking forward to January. All the best. Mitch 🙏🙏
So sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. Keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Wishing you continued safe travels and a safe return back to Thailand 🇹🇭 see you in January.
Hey Joe don't listen to anyone you and Gift live your lives to the full we are on this earth a very short time so make the best of it love to watch your vidio's and listen to your story on living in Thailand so carry on you happy path together Dave Liverpool UK 👍
Hiya Joe & Gift- thanks for your feedback! My husband and myself are planning on being nomadic in Thailand starting this December & cannot wait! The initial plan was to move there once he turns 62 this November; however, I told him to let’s just do a test run first. To make sure that we really want to make the move. I think 3 months should give us a decent exposure and fingers crossed 🤞🏼
Hi, love your videos, I am from Venezuela And marry to a great heart and beautiful woman from Thailand, currently living in the USA; in Orlando Florida, and our plan B when I retire , probably in Two or three years will be to go and live in Thailand , beautiful country and people , been there one time in 2017 and want to go back to visit and go around the country, happy to see your videos and keep the good work 👏👍
I have been watching your channel from pretty much the beginning you were still living in Bangkok I really love your videos as you and Gift are just such amazing people I’m glad you have got this time to spend with your son As making memories with your kids and other love ones is priceless Thank you for sharing your story with us Tell Gift to keep dancing And tell David to make sure he orders two meals every time you go out Lmao

Great video guys, keep up the good work. I'm in the process of starting a channel steve and Pim Thailand and England showing ours journey with me still being in England at the moment and Pim comes over on a tourist visa at the moment. Good luck with your continued journey ❤❤
Hi Joe and Gift, love your videos, I come over soon for 5 months and live in Prachuap with my wife. I really love the place, enough to do without being touristy and busy, hope to see you about one day .
Joe, excellent advice!! Take our time if thinking of moving away from the States…(if that’s where you’re from.). Try it out for a few months……..the whole idea could be very romantic….. Your Brother who still works, will be in better shape in a couple of years. We, here in the states are going to have some rough times BUT soon we’ll be OK. (You may need to return to the States for a couple of months, I don’t know….) I won’t talk about it, no need, but you will know. I just love Thailand. It’s the people…very kind.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding Joe and Gift. Great video content. I always enjoy the views from PKK when you’re walking in the beachfront. I hope to visit that area soon we are retired up in Isaan near Udon Thani.
Congratulations you and gift get married and you been retiring here for 6 years. I am Thai married with American living here in state. Some day will go back to PKK ❤❤
Hi Joe & Gift, Regarding receiving gifts, my friend in Australia sends clothes to his family, and he removes all tags from them and fills out the mailing slips, and marks second clothes. Love your videos.
Thanks for sharing - very insightful. I live in Singapore for on and off close to 25 years. Absolutely great place, but as you say it has become far too pricy. I travel a lot to BKK for business and am getting closer to deciding to move to Thailand and retire in the not too distant future. Love the people, the country and the aspects such as healthcare, weather etc.
Hi Joe and Gift-looking forward to moving to Hua Hin 21 October with my AF retirement, DOD Civilian retirement and SSA! Pretty sure it will be more than enough-house just finished being built. Hope to run into you guys again someday
You move there to Bangkok Thailand and then meet Gift, and moved to Paradise, Prachuap Khiri Khan. You live in a very beautiful town there's you as know. So now the wedding coming up, so all good. And the one liner you said, I am glad I didn't do that, about living in the other country you mention. Take care and Thanks
We all have second thoughts 4:11 , ten years in India, ten in Mexico, fourteen in Thailand. India was my first choice, more beauty and culture and food. I needed to work so Thailand since 1971 was my choice. I'm an old heroin and hashish smuggler. A Canadian in Thailand.
Indeed Thailand is a slice of life for many...good to see you're still living large...feelin' good lookin' good...nothing better than having a beach a stones throw from your home...and hey can I ask...is that your phone you're using for video?...the blurred background really makes a difference...
Great video Joe, really appreciate you guys. We were going to wait a few years, but recently have decided to move next year. If you remember we are purchasing property in Kui Buri, 500 meters from the beach. Wishing you and Gift a wonderful wedding and life. Hopefully we can meet at some point. If you know of a good contractor, please let us know...
Good people deserve a good life. Other people deserve the karma that comes with who they decide to be. All the stories about who when and how it all took place the past 6 years was very interesting to listen to. I think the answer to any question about what any of us decide to do is to just look at the results. All things have led you to where you are with the one you love who loves you back and that ain't no accident my friend. Both of you deserve the life you have and finding each other was a blessing to you both. Stay well and happy.
8 or 9 years ago it was 48F for quite awhile up in Chiang Mai…one night decided to go to the mall to get some warmer clothes and thought, good, can turn on the car heater and warm up….but….no heater 😱 only aircon ! Every time I see Gift, I think of Cher, they are similar looking (to me)…hope to get back soon for a longer stay, thx for the vid 🙏🏻
🏴👏🏾spoken like a truly thoughtful man, of course you did the right thing Joe,for yourself and Gift. Keep on living the dream, you both deserve it!❤️🍷
My wife and I are considering moving to Hua Hin, but have seen the beauty of PKK from your channel and from Mike and Nicole’s channel. What ultimately drove you to PKK versus Hua Hin or some other costal town/city? I’m currently scouting Hua Hin to see what it has and what it’s missing?
I liked that walk and talk you did. I agree with you.. You should definetly travel to different countries to see where you like the best for retirement. I think each country has benefits.. Thailand definetly has way better infrastructure and medical than Philippines. but then Philippines has english and easier Visa to stay.. especially if you are military.. (SRRV) Thailand has better Food choices.. and well you get way better accomodations for your money in Thailand. I think everyone needs to go out and see for themselves.. Its one thing to plan, but another to "experience it on hand " Vietnam is also good place.. but then the Language barrier. Visa is also tough. every 3 months you have to do a boarder run. Just depends what you would rather say... "put up with" lol... Food is also really good in vietnam. At least here in Da Nang. I think a good home base.. and travel is the best.. if you can. It was nice meeting you in Da Nang. You have a great channel... keep it up!
Joe found your vids before relocating, glad you're doing good, i love our area in Thailand, i get to go running, eat fresh vegan, and pick on digital fake people, keep posting brother
Building your own house was the right decision because it was YOUR decision. Opinions can vary but with some I am sure it is jealousy creeping in. Friendships that don't last have never been REAL friendships and over time we tend to learn what so called friends are really like.
Joe: As I thought I understood, all land along the shoreline in Thailand is owned by the kingdom up to a certain distance from high tide. Since you previously owned a beach house, please explain how that works.
If you are truly car people there are a few cool car events coming up November and December. Chang Classic Car Revival in November 22-24 2024 at Chang International Circuit Buriram Thailand Amata springs Classics d’ Elegance car event on December 14. Chon Buri District, last year 700 cars attended. Then December 20-22 the vintage car parade in Hua Hin, headquarters at the Dusit Thani hotel Hua Hin
Another great informative video. You have made great career choices and can care for your family in retirement. Nok and i will be on my NYS govt employee Blue Cross for hospital and Dr. office visits. Im thinking of not taking the dental because its $70 per month for a retiree ( free now) can probably by some cheaper insurance there if i want? ever notice some people resent us "retired government workers'?? i just tell them i did not make there career choices for them!😉
Joe, I have a question, I am also civil service, when I was stationed in Germany, saw a lot guys retire there. There it is just basic pay with no locality. I thought it would be better to PCS back to states and retire with the added on locality pay. Did you get anything extra in your annuity payments? I planned on retiring at 56, but the inflation and the ten percent kicker at 62 keeps me working.. I have 3 more years and will head to Thailand. Your VLOG helped me lot especially with your advice on Health Insurance . Enjoy your videos!
Glad you enjoyed the video. Just before being stationed in Italy, I was the Zone Manager for almost 4 years in VA. My pay grade GS14 Step 10 plus locality pay. Retirement is based off of your high 3 plus years of service. In my case 38 years of service. When I retired, in addition to my pension, I received a supplement until the age of 62, then the supplement went away and I begin drawing Social Security. While I’m not certain, it sounds like you might not have the required years of service when you hit the minimum retirement age (MRA), therefore the 10% reduction if you should retire before the age of 62? If you do have both the MRA and years of service, you should be eligible to retire and receive both your pension and supplement at age 56 or 57 based on the year you were born. Hope this helps.
Hi Joe. I know you since five years and half..so I know you have made excellent choices. I will retire next year in June and will have plenty of time to live my "two best worlds" (my home country and Thailand). My next holidays will be (not sure) in march-april in Thailand...and I will try discover what Khon Kaen can offer (activities, transportation..). I will not have the chance to be bones in flesh at your marriage, but I wish to both of you, Gift and Joe, all the best. I have the idea to send you a gift with Lazada. At least I can try...if no address...i will send the gift to Jay Jay ;-)

May you both have a terrific marriage and fulfill your love until the end God Bless both of you.
So sorry for your loss. God has another beautiful angel. Thank you 🙏 so much again. God Bless!

Cheers from Durban, South Africa
Thank you 🙏 so much for your kind words.
About your house - have a friend in Chiang Rai that also built a nice place. He started having drain problems in the fourth year . Monthly enzymatic treatment solved it. Just a very inexpensive safe liquid - 1 oz down each drain with warm water. Plumber said it’s a common problem .
Thank you 🙏 for the info. Luckily we haven’t had any issues like that.
Thank you 🙏. Congratulations on 36 years of marriage, that is awesome.
Enjoy watching your video as always and once again congratulations on your upcoming wedding in January…..You guys are awesome couple and deserve to be happy together
Thank you 🙏 so much!
Great video Joe I enjoy you Gift and David living your best life from one veteran to another 👏👍
Thank you 🙏 so much! Also, Thank you 🙏 for your Service brother.
Thank you 🙏 for sharing! I believe you will love living in Hua Hin.
Joe and Gift still living the dream . Keep it going because it doesn't last for ever . Unfortunately we all age i can look back on life and say where did it go . Our destiny in life is what we make it know one else is to blame . Enjoy it while you can .. 🙏🙏
Well said! Thank you 🙏
Sitting here at Taiwan International Airport (TPE) on layover.

Our pleasure! You are making the right decision, come stay for 3 months and then decide.

(You may need to return to the States for a couple of months, I don’t know….)
I won’t talk about it, no need, but you will know. I just love Thailand. It’s the people…very kind.
Glad you enjoyed the video.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding Joe and Gift. Great video content. I always enjoy the views from PKK when you’re walking in the beachfront. I hope to visit that area soon we are retired up in Isaan near Udon Thani.

Hi Joe & Gift,
Regarding receiving gifts, my friend in Australia sends clothes to his family, and he removes all tags from them and fills out the mailing slips, and marks second clothes.
Love your videos.
Thank you 🙏. Before the hat and shirt was mailed, all tags were removed. Unfortunately, with the new tax rules, it didn’t help.
nice video , good information all , thanks
Thank you 🙏 so much!
Our pleasure! Thank you 🙏 for watching.

JOE WE WERE DOWN THERE TWO WEEKS AHO AND HIS COFFEE IS GOOD.
David had one yesterday, he said it was real good as well.
You should do an interview with @thairishtimes !!
Indeed Thailand is a slice of life for many...good to see you're still living large...feelin' good lookin' good...nothing better than having a beach a stones throw from your home...and hey can I ask...is that your phone you're using for video?...the blurred background really makes a difference...
Thank you 🙏. I was using my iPhone 15 Max Pro on 4K 60fps videoing in cinematic mode.

Thank you 🙏 so much! Blessings to you and your family as well.
Our pleasure! They now make many cars with heaters, ours has heat 😊

So good to find you again. Damn algorithms pushed you away.
Thank you 🙏 so much for watching again.
You have a great channel... keep it up!
Well said! Thank you 🙏 it was nice meeting you as well.
Joe found your vids before relocating, glad you're doing good, i love our area in Thailand, i get to go running, eat fresh vegan, and pick on digital fake people, keep posting brother
Happy to hear that you are enjoying Thailand 🇹🇭
Awesome video David is a built like his father😂🙏🙏🙏
Thank you 🙏 so much! David is definitely in good shape. As for me, I’m just an old man trying to stay fit 😂
🤣🙏🙏🙏🙏
Building your own house was the right decision because it was YOUR decision. Opinions can vary but with some I am sure it is jealousy creeping in. Friendships that don't last have never been REAL friendships and over time we tend to learn what so called friends are really like.
I agree ☝️
You’re the best!
Thank you 🙏 so much!
You’ve sold me on Thailand as you know!
What day in January are you guys getting married. Great video. I love that coffee cart

@@thaigirlgiftforeignerjoe7774 thank you. Have fun guys
My birthday is the 21st
Joe: As I thought I understood, all land along the shoreline in Thailand is owned by the kingdom up to a certain distance from high tide.
Since you previously owned a beach house, please explain how that works.
That is my understanding as well. I believe it is under the authority of the marine department. I believe it 12 meters from the shore line.
If you are truly car people there are a few cool car events coming up November and December.
Chang Classic Car Revival in November 22-24 2024 at Chang International Circuit Buriram Thailand
Amata springs Classics d’ Elegance car event on December 14. Chon Buri District, last year 700 cars attended.
Then December 20-22 the vintage car parade in Hua Hin, headquarters at the Dusit Thani hotel Hua Hin
Thank you 🙏 for the info. We will be getting ready for our wedding during that timeframe, so we will see if we can make it.
@@thaigirlgiftforeignerjoe7774 Best to you and your bride.
Friendships are like all other relationships . Period. Some last, most don't. It's evolution....🙂
I agree ☝️
We have but one short life, why spend most of it working, plan, save, and retire as early as you can and enjoy
True that!

Another great informative video. You have made great career choices and can care for your family in retirement. Nok and i will be on my NYS govt employee Blue Cross for hospital and Dr. office visits. Im thinking of not taking the dental because its $70 per month for a retiree ( free now) can probably by some cheaper insurance there if i want? ever notice some people resent us "retired government workers'?? i just tell them i did not make there career choices for them!😉
Thank you 🙏. Unfortunately, some people are just envious for no reason at all. Wishing you and your wife many happy healthy years of retirement.
If you do have both the MRA and years of service, you should be eligible
to retire and receive both your pension and supplement at age 56 or 57 based on the year you were born. Hope this helps.

How much does it cost to live in Thailand, Answer , How long is a piece of String ,
