I was at that station in 2019 and it was a station and also visitors center there are regional buses that leave from there or did when I was there that I would think is the reason for the huge parking lot

This is a small station but has way more parking than Orlando.
Yeah Orlando Amtrak sucks 4 parking. I work nearby and leave my car at work.
