The kid played really good tactical, defensive chess. That's exactly what a young player should want to do against a much more experienced player who has many more prearrangements and lines committed to memory. You could see the frustration in Nak's face at times because his opponent didn't make an obvious mistake. He had a good awareness of the board at all times and forced equal trades from a very conservative position. As the kid gains more experience and adds to his repertoire, he should be a danger to the top players.

Hes our heir to Anand. Hopefully he can maintain his level at the very top 👍👍
Nice to see

Wow. This kid had Hikaru rolling through all of his facial expressions like a slideshow. Even top level GM's fail to do that sometimes. Well done kid!
If a 12 year old kid sits at your table in a professional chess tourney, you should be very afraid.
At the state championships in Denver the year my Chess team went in High School first board at the event was a 14 year old chess prodigy. They had his moves being broadcasted live downstairs in the lounge area on a HD projector. After we crashed and burned at the first table(Our third board player...chose to draw every game...) we all watched him slay a GM in real time while eating dinner.
Ohh yeah, just imagining of me on his place scares the hell out of me ^‚__‚^

Im watching chess games for a week now: and this kid is the first player that doesnt seem narcisstic or (ego)maniac.. indeed this child seems to be healthy humble. The grown ups like carlsson, naka can learn alot from this kid how to stay on ground.
He defeated carlsen recently and became the youngest to defeat the reigning champion at the age of 16. He also became grand master at the age of 12 I believe. This kid has some great potential.
Difference is This kid loves what he's doing or playing, Carlson is a champion but with ego of much higher expectations that's why he pumped up high every time he loses.
Carlson does have ego, but he ain't egomaniac.
Infact I find Carlson very respectful in life. Nakamura not so much
