Before hand I was efficient, focusing on headshots and keeping my distance, Benjamin's death shook my core, my friend straight up told me to calm down, I'd rush in, changing my Hammerburst and Longshot, to Shotgun and Lancer. Lowkey this damn game series caused me to feel hate towards a fictional faction. Love this series.

I don't know if the average civilian would be able to kill any locusts because they have a very thick skin and small arms don't do much to them as far as I've heard, in fact the snub pistol for example uses cal. 50 rounds. Probably living far from densely populated areas is what would give people a better chance of survival.
The second Berserker scared the hell out of me, it was so unexpected, you're just walking through a greenhouse, and the Berserker just casually steps out.
The first 3 gears were untouchable mostly cliffy B. and his team cliffs p ersonal life spilled into the game and you cant argue the results but i never understood how a game would get so much hype release be a great game still to this day and the support would fall off pretty quickly with only really 1 dlc and it was great just think if cliff and his crew done more for each game like raams shadow instead of maps i think that is why they didn't have staying power for some hell i still play 3
It would be great, but with a studio dedicating themselves to retconning character development and plot in favor of a Strong Woman™️ as the protagonist that they make sure you remember is a woman every few minutes, I’m gonna guess not

He wanted to be with his wife, but didn’t want to just kill himself, he knew his death had to have purpose so as to not be selfish and just abandon his friends. So when he sacrificed himself to save his friends, he got his wish.
Someone had once told me that Tai had killed himself to free his soul from his body as per his cultural beliefs. Apparantly if your body is broken by trauma or disease they're meant to free themselves from it. Never fact checked anything on it, it's just a bit I heard once upon a time.
I feel like it potentially diminishes the impact that scene is supposed to have. Tai was introduced as a stoic, spiritual yet hardened individual. He could take a lot and bounce back up. The decision to off himself was supposed to showcase just how brutal the Locust were, that even a guy like Tai would choose suicide from the experience. I suppose it doesn't completely negate that idea, but it certainly changes the focus of the decision.

He was a shell of what he used to be I don't think it's mutually exclusive for Tai's cultural beliefs being that BUT he actually killed himself because of the trauma of facing such brutality not really thinking about adhering to his beliefs in those final moments he just wanted to end his pain.
Man finding Maria brought me to tears when I first played Gears 2. You'd hear mission after mission how much Dom misses her and the stories he would tell, only for him to find her in that state. The only thing close to that was Dom's death in 3.
Gets me every single time. That and the ending of Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core with Zack's death when the camera flies by Cloud dragging the Buster Sword towards Midgar and Zack asking if he became a hero.

That birthing farm thing was so brutal it was almost out of place in gears. Very little talk about sex in the series compared to other adult dark fiction(berserk for example) and then BOOOM fetuses in jars and child **** with no happy ending
It make sense in the Gears universe due to the cog fighting a 79 year war and than fighting the locust horde, humanity population had to be so low because of that

I swear, the Birthing Creche was the most disturbing discovery that I made about the COG reading the comics. It's even more disturbing if you think about the fact that every single woman in the COG showed in the First Trilogy was steryle, and that's the only reason why they're in the main plot. Just had a thought: Remember how Baird and Paduk talked about what happened to Sofia, and Paduk said she was abducted by some guys wearing COG tags? What if Sofia was fertile and the government wanted to put her in a Birthing Creche, so she deserted and went looking for Paduk? Only for some gears to track her down and drag her back, either out of loyalty to the COG or because they wanted a turn with her at the Creche?

Actually realizing what Dom went through when finding Maria is mind changing. Having to shoot the one you love the most in such a dramatic, well played out plot is so attention grabbing it's crazy. Gears of war 2 will forever be the best story for any game in the series.
Man one thing they really nailed in Gears 2 was the soundtrack. The music did such a good job of making the player feel like a gear in an ever shrinking army fighting against increasingly impossible odds, knowing that they are the last thin line of defense against extinction. Mainstream games today just cannot accomplish the same feats.
At least there was that one Gear in one of the Comic's, during operation Hollow Storm(Hollow S#%tStorm) was able to be some of the very few probably, to break out and escape from the Hollow, but only to meet his demise after words before he could even get back to forward base. And side note that would make kinda of a good character in Gears 6 or a prequel game of a Gear who managed to escape the Hollow and allow its horrors as a P.O.W and live to tell the tail and maybe along side with other P.O.W's.
I really with the newer gears continued with the gritty morbid story and art style gears 1-3 had. The newer games took a really big shift that I’m not a huge fan of.
I see what you mean, but you have to keep in mind that in Gears 4 and 5, the humans pretty much have rebuilt, so it wouldn't be gritty and dark as it should be. I wonder how it will be like for the 6 installment meant. It's been a bit, but the ending of Gears 5 kind of gave the sense of the gritty and dark tone of it imo
There are so many aspects of horror in gears of war, i know its highly regarded for its action but I gotta say at points it works fantastically as a horror game due to the bleak atmosphere setting and scenes some of em just give off this longing sense horror and dread
@@KingAbzTV Update: I've bought gears of war 2 and 3, I'm halfway through gow 2 (im at the ruined city part) and I LOVE IT so far, it's so damn fun, I love benjamin carmine, the whole game is soooo fun. I couldn't stop myself from trying out gears 3 multi and beast, i liked those so much i completed all 12 waves of beast on casual on my first time - legendary games!
It was almost directly stated in the first game, though you might've misheard it. When the first berserker screams, Baird says "She can hear us. She can SMELL us." Berserkers are the only female locusts in the game.
I knew that Dom was not going to have a happy ending, but his ‘reunion’ with what was left of Maria was still painful. When Gears of War 3 was in development I emailed Karen Travis and begged her to not kill Dom, or at least write a scene in which Dom and Maria spend one last night together in which she became pregnant and gave birth before Dom saw her again. I begged, I really did, and even offered to sign any sort of release that I would not seek even a single dime if they used my idea (though it would have been nice of them to have tossed me a free copy of GoW3 if they did), but she ignored me and Dom died, joining his wife and children. But had Dom discovered his new son or daughter it would have given him reason to live, or had Marcus and Arya discovered Dom and Maria’s (unknown to them) last child they could have raised that child in memory of his/her parents, and that child would have been a few years older than J.D. and could have been his big brother or big sister. Alas, they ignored me and I’m still pretty salty about it.
Easily one of the most heartwrenching series I've had the pleasure of growing up with. Many developers have shown their own renditions of war but the Coalition took its horrors to an entirely different level. A world consumed and shaped by war like no other.
I still remember how good the gears series was 1 through 3. Always improving there gameplay and adding great content through story and gameplay with each passing title. Not a huge fan of the series after the main 3 but glad that the gameplay still remained great.
Gears 2 gets overlooked so much it’s crazy. Hard to believe when it improved upon the first installment in literally every way. Spent hours playing that campaign with my little bro.
A more ethical and maybe more efficient breeding farm would be to just extract the woman's eggs and grow the kids in vats. Something tells me that some sick COG higher up would rather take advantage of the women there instead and try and block that though.
Does anyone else remember how they allured to locust predecessors already existing? They would tell tales of monsters in the mines. I remember a TH-camr who went into depth about how it was seemingly retconned. I feel like the locusts coming from a native species was way better than being changed to just test subjects.
Top tier fucked up was in the light novels how they decided to recall all gears and use the hammer of dawn on entire cites a crash and burn tactic to help increase their odds of winning. The aftermath was in the third game when we meet griffin. It’s sad that we find out later the entire time COG they did it to themselves trying to win the pendulum wars cost them in gears 6 when they find out the truth of the locust.
you know what this woke shit reminds me of ? Not gears of war original game. thats what. its like they made up all this backstory once they ran out of story plot.
One of things i wonder is what the Locust would’ve been like if Adam had helped them right away and solved their lambent issue, preventing them from needing to attack the surface.
A remake of the first gears of War as more of a 3rd person survival horror game would b really cool imo, the first gears had a really dark and kinda scary feeling that the later gears just didn't hav. I was actually kinda scared of the locust in the first and the berserker scene is one that emphasizes that Sci-fi horror feel it had.

Love this world and series, just hope gears 6 is more like halo infinite

How can there be so many Locust drones when there are so few berserkers to give birth to them? Even if every single berserker was kept out of combat, and spent her entire life breeding, the Locust population would not be that high.
The more I look into cogs lore the more I realize it is just a single planet in the 40k universe. The grim dark mixed with humans beating insurmountable odds of xenos fits pretty cleanly.

Both Maria's and Dom's deaths were some of the saddest of any video game series I've ever witnessed.
Actually realizing what Dom went through when finding Maria is mind changing. Having to shoot the one you love the most in such a dramatic, well played out plot is so attention grabbing it's crazy. Gears of war 2 will forever be the best story for any game in the series.
Man one thing they really nailed in Gears 2 was the soundtrack. The music did such a good job of making the player feel like a gear in an ever shrinking army fighting against increasingly impossible odds, knowing that they are the last thin line of defense against extinction. Mainstream games today just cannot accomplish the same feats.

At least there was that one Gear in one of the Comic's, during operation Hollow Storm(Hollow S#%tStorm) was able to be some of the very few probably, to break out and escape from the Hollow, but only to meet his demise after words before he could even get back to forward base.
And side note that would make kinda of a good character in Gears 6 or a prequel game of a Gear who managed to escape the Hollow and allow its horrors as a P.O.W and live to tell the tail and maybe along side with other P.O.W's.
I really with the newer gears continued with the gritty morbid story and art style gears 1-3 had. The newer games took a really big shift that I’m not a huge fan of.

The story telling and great punchlines from 1-3 are also nowhere to be found coalition pretty much killed the whole franchise.

I see what you mean, but you have to keep in mind that in Gears 4 and 5, the humans pretty much have rebuilt, so it wouldn't be gritty and dark as it should be. I wonder how it will be like for the 6 installment meant. It's been a bit, but the ending of Gears 5 kind of gave the sense of the gritty and dark tone of it imo
There are so many aspects of horror in gears of war, i know its highly regarded for its action but I gotta say at points it works fantastically as a horror game due to the bleak atmosphere setting and scenes some of em just give off this longing sense horror and dread

@@KingAbzTV Update: I've bought gears of war 2 and 3, I'm halfway through gow 2 (im at the ruined city part) and I LOVE IT so far, it's so damn fun, I love benjamin carmine, the whole game is soooo fun. I couldn't stop myself from trying out gears 3 multi and beast, i liked those so much i completed all 12 waves of beast on casual on my first time - legendary games!

It was almost directly stated in the first game, though you might've misheard it. When the first berserker screams, Baird says "She can hear us. She can SMELL us." Berserkers are the only female locusts in the game.

Currently on gears of war 4 started today. So far, can’t beat 2
I knew that Dom was not going to have a happy ending, but his ‘reunion’ with what was left of Maria was still painful. When Gears of War 3 was in development I emailed Karen Travis and begged her to not kill Dom, or at least write a scene in which Dom and Maria spend one last night together in which she became pregnant and gave birth before Dom saw her again. I begged, I really did, and even offered to sign any sort of release that I would not seek even a single dime if they used my idea (though it would have been nice of them to have tossed me a free copy of GoW3 if they did), but she ignored me and Dom died, joining his wife and children. But had Dom discovered his new son or daughter it would have given him reason to live, or had Marcus and Arya discovered Dom and Maria’s (unknown to them) last child they could have raised that child in memory of his/her parents, and that child would have been a few years older than J.D. and could have been his big brother or big sister.
Alas, they ignored me and I’m still pretty salty about it.

Easily one of the most heartwrenching series I've had the pleasure of growing up with. Many developers have shown their own renditions of war but the Coalition took its horrors to an entirely different level. A world consumed and shaped by war like no other.
I still remember how good the gears series was 1 through 3. Always improving there gameplay and adding great content through story and gameplay with each passing title. Not a huge fan of the series after the main 3 but glad that the gameplay still remained great.
Gears 2 gets overlooked so much it’s crazy. Hard to believe when it improved upon the first installment in literally every way. Spent hours playing that campaign with my little bro.

Yup. Thats actually one of the reasons. The other major 1 was simply they did not have the resources to do such a thing.
Does anyone else remember how they allured to locust predecessors already existing? They would tell tales of monsters in the mines. I remember a TH-camr who went into depth about how it was seemingly retconned. I feel like the locusts coming from a native species was way better than being changed to just test subjects.
Top tier fucked up was in the light novels how they decided to recall all gears and use the hammer of dawn on entire cites a crash and burn tactic to help increase their odds of winning. The aftermath was in the third game when we meet griffin. It’s sad that we find out later the entire time COG they did it to themselves trying to win the pendulum wars cost them in gears 6 when they find out the truth of the locust.
Guess that explains why all the characters were super buff all the time 😂

A remake of the first gears of War as more of a 3rd person survival horror game would b really cool imo, the first gears had a really dark and kinda scary feeling that the later gears just didn't hav. I was actually kinda scared of the locust in the first and the berserker scene is one that emphasizes that Sci-fi horror feel it had.

I feel like gears 2 really cranked up the darkness with the series, the locust were mysterious in the first game with them just being monsters with guns and the community wanted to know how they came to be and how evil they were so epic was like "sure ok so they're actually a disgusting mutated hybrid of human and animal and they basically skin people (and like children too) alive just cause they find it amusing. Love this world and series, just hope gears 6 is more like halo infinite

How can there be so many Locust drones when there are so few berserkers to give birth to them? Even if every single berserker was kept out of combat, and spent her entire life breeding, the Locust population would not be that high.

The more I look into cogs lore the more I realize it is just a single planet in the 40k universe. The grim dark mixed with humans beating insurmountable odds of xenos fits pretty cleanly.
