Yes, Nowadays the original ancient type of these dogs are found in Nepal's upper region only and but not in Tibet. Due to heavy demand all original dogs are gone.

I have a great respect for the Tibetan people and know of there suffering and the great admiration they have for these beautiful animals but i have to say that it is very hard for me to see these loyal and loving animals tied up like this all the time. Especially with so much space for them to roam free. I truly mean no disrespect, I know this is very common in villages across the world, but it honestly does sadden me.

I am not 100% sure but I read the following information somewhere. During daytime, there are people, children, other animals walking around everywhere and it is usual for Tibetan mastiff to attack every strangers that invade its territory so to avoid the dog just biting every intruder they tie em up during daytime. During nighttime,, these dogs are ALWAYS let loose. Because at night time, it's not normal for people to cross someone's territory.
Another interesting fact about tibetan mastiff is that, these dogs pretty much sleeps for the whole day, unless provoked by strangers, or course. These dogs sleep and rest during day and are on guard at night when they are let loose

@@raftaar3587 One would hope so. What the video shows, is a different picture. Animals kept in squalid conditions, with little to no human interaction, neglected, malnourished. I ponder the logic of keeping animals, if that is the only existence they are forced into.

Aboriginal Tibetan Mastiff compared to other breeds eat less.They do very well with low protein level..It depends on parents how much your pup will grow upto adult..We give traditional food to our dogs such as tsampa, millet, maize, whey and meat and bone..
