TIP: The glass candle jars with tops make GREAT containers to make AND store the butter. Heat the glass jar in some warm water then clean out any remaining candle wax. Clean, the use the same jar as shown in the video. Once you've mixed everything, simply set the glass jar on a towel and allow it to cool. This way, you're not pouring from one container to another AND you're minimizing product loss. I add a small amount of pure beeswax to my butter to give the butter some extra hold.
I am so glad Dan C mentioned you again and again when binge watching his videos. Yall's content are the best of my youtube experience on beards! Thanks!!
Made my first Beard Butter today following this recipe. For essential oils I used Peppermint, Eucalyptus and Tea Tree essential oils. It came out amazing. Scuba thank you so much. I watched the Dan C video that you recommended on the latest video about the dangers of making your own products which was very informative. Please keep up the great videos Scuba.
Ordered these up on amazon. The fact that I can make it myself now is huge. I received these the other day and made a batch. I included Coconut oil too. My skin is softer and my beard looks and feels much better. This is a game changer. Thank you for the info v
I just started trying to get my beard game up and have seen a few of your videos. After beginning this video, I now know you are gonna be my main man for the beardy things. Love the Louder with Crowder Mug man and the content is legit.
I just made my cousin a beard oil, and shower steamers, using Patchouli, Sandalwood , and Cedarwood, the best smell IMO , going to make him this beard butter with those same essential oils. Ty for the tips.
I use shea butter, black castor oil, almond oil, scent and then a very small amount of bees wax and then I whip it and it makes a wonderful beard butter that is real soft and creamy.
Love youuuuu🇳🇬.... Lol... I'm a Skincare therapist but I've always been super obsessed with Men's care all my life, hence I added a substitute of Beard product to my Subsidiary and it's been incredible. (But one thing that keeps it going for me is my passion💯)🤗 More grace Boss
The part about the stove reminds me of on time when I was making wax slugs in my mom's kitchen. Long story short, had to put out kitchen fire and then replace the stove and spent weeks cleaning extinguisher powder out of the kitchen..
This video is amazing. The breakdown of how to clearly make this was what I've been looking for. I do have a nut allergy so it's impossible to find stuff without coconut and nut products. Now i can make my own very easily. Thank you !
Going through the same search for the same reason haha. I just made my first attempt & used a cocoa butter. Not sure if I will be use this one as the chocolate smell overpowers the whole thing though. Probably need to go with the mango butter. The reviews mention it is odorless so the oils would actually work.
I'm definitely going to try. I respect this man's opinion due to the fact that, I bought the brio axis trimmer and it was the best trim I've ever used.
Cool video, I recommend for getting a scent estimation hold the 2 or 3 oils in your hand and adjust the height of each oil and smell it from about 3 inches above the top one. Then the portions are the amount of bottle closest too you. ie: the top one has 1/3 of the bottle up, so about 30 percent.
You always want to use a bit more essential oils to the butters and balms, because when they solidify they lose some scent. I also find that shea butter, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil and argan oil make a great blend. Always buy pharmaceutical grade and unscented.
So not sure if someone else mentioned this to you but I do the same accept at end I let my stay in bowl to solidify then once almost there, a little more than yours now in video. I take either my wisk or electric mixer and whip it. This adds an airy light texture to it that is real nice. Maybe try that on next batch you will love it.
Jojoba oil is processed from the plant grown the southern USA and northern Mexico. It's a Hispanic word, pronounced Ha-Ho-ba because our J is said as an H to them. Great video though!
This is going to be great! I started making beard oils a few months back and definitely want to try making butters since I ran out and this seems like a great way to get a lot of product for the price of the 1 jar of say beardbrand.
I’ve attempted this once before with Shea and Coco butters with a hint of tea tree and Peppermint. Needless to see it was to heavy for use in my beard and the mint and tea tree tinged my cheeks but for use on the body it was great!
Great tutorial for beard butter i personally used sweet orange and clove essential oils smells great give it a try thanks brother for the butter recipe
I have just finished my beard butter. I used Butter: Shea, mango and cocoa. Oils: jojoba, Brazil's nut and argan. Scent: sandalwood, ylang ylang, mint, cinnamon and cedar. My god,how my beard survived all this time without that ? Thanks for the tip
Very helpful video, thanks. I am actually about to play around with this myself and was looking at putting a small amount of beeswax in the mix to give a light hold.
Lost a testicle a while back, and other one has poor function and blood flow. T levels have plummeted over the past few years but I have managed to keep my beard about the same length as you currently. It takes about a year for it to grow an inch or two and I am very weary of using off the shelf products, I already make my own balms and this vid is awesome for making and knowing exactly what I want in my butter. Thanks Scoob
A good idea when you take it off the heat, divide it into more containers this way you can have different scents...experiment..thanks I’m going to give it a try
Bro you crack me up! I’m new to the beard game. Growing my first beard in my 35 years. Love the videos. Took your recommendation on scotch porter and fresh beards. Loving them both. Happy new year!
Came back for a refresher. Still have a Working Hands puck full of my last batch, but why not make more. Eucalyptus oil goes a long way too. Not even gonna try cinnamon cassia again. That stuff burns.
Thanks for a great tutorial. I’m gonna throw out a scented oil that is my favorite and it is frankincense. I’ve always loved the spice scent of it and it isn’t girly or smell like you’re trying to cover up body odor.
I just subscribed to your channel and realized how much you have and how often frankincense is in it so never mind! I look forward to learning more about beard care and thank you for sharing!
i have used a similar respire to this for a couple years i add beeswax pellets when melting the butters and it makes a really good styling balm for beard or head hair .
I've been doing this for about 6 months. Short answer, No. Longer answer, maybe? With so many different oils and butters to chose from it is possible a few of them might have expiration dates. One great thing about this DIY beard stuff, everything you use to make beard oil can also be used in beard butter and everything you use in beard butter can be used to make beard balm. Beard Oil + Butter = Beard Butter Beard Butter + Wax = Beard Balm
i have also made my own Beard butter ingridents shea butter Hemp Seed oil Castor oil Jojoba and it is pretty good i done a test run with no Essential oils to get it right next one is going to be peppermint or cedar wood keep up the great videos
I have just started growing a longer beard and now seeing all the products out there thought man is this something I can make. Watched this video (great by the way) and the one thing you mentioned and I can't find on your channel was you would tried whipped later. Did you ever try that and if so can you share the link? I haven't used any beard butter yet but seems like whipped is the way to go, appreciate your help.
So I was I inspired by this video and contemplating making my own beard butter/beard oil brand as a business. I prefer butters over balms(no wax). I will say that compared to the one I bought the one butter that I made makes my beard feel way softer and more conditioned. This might hurt me in the end but making your own might be your best option 😂
Looks like a great idea. Thank you. Going to try to do a batch. .... Question can you do a video for how to tame your beard for curly beards. My beard gets curly when it gets long.
Crazy how easy it is to make these things (and cheap), but if i started I'd be tempted to turn it into a business, I have enough beard related addictions 🤣
Cool tutorial, I didn't think taking care of my own beard would actually be so simple and cheap. Will definitely be giving this a try. What other options are their for the oils that you added a lot of, the Jojoba oil etc... ?
After the ingredients come off the stove… How cool do you let it get before you add the fragrance oils? How long do you let it sit before you add the oils?
Hi! I'm not OP, but I make beard oils, butters, and balms. Remember to add a MAX 1-2% (according to SDS) of essential oils to your overall butters/oils. I add the essential oils in the cool-down phase after my butter/oil melted blend is under 120°F ... basically as cool as you can get it before it starts to set. And - if it does start to set before you pour into a container, you just pop it back on the double boiler to reheat slightly. While this is an anhydrous balm, you want your fingers to be entirely dry before scooping - or you a plastic application spoon to prevent any water to contaminate your end product. Hope that helps!
How long should you wait before throwing the containers to the fridge? I guess it won't hurt the product itself if it's hot, but tge fridge may suffer some damage in the long run.. Still, a great video. Absolutely gonna try that myself next week. Glad it's January, so I can just use my balcony instead of tge fridge for the settling of the butters.
English Leather cologne use to have 2 scents that would be good. Timberline & Windrift. And Old Spice had Night Spice & Lime. Timberline was a good pine scent. So were 2 others. I like.
I'm getting ready to make my own stuff too. I'm more concerned with hold. So I'm adding beeswax. Also using cocoa butter instead of shay butter.
This constantly gets asked about. This video should be big!
I see you Mug Club 😉
You don't want to lower your student loans? Haha
You 2 should collaborate and make a signature line of simple products. Hell I'll even be your test beard.
Lol I don’t wanna be a student, I just wanna make videos!!!
I am so glad Dan C mentioned you again and again when binge watching his videos. Yall's content are the best of my youtube experience on beards! Thanks!!
I just use solidified bacon grease, works great and your beard smells like breakfast all day.
I used Lemon, Orange, Bergamot, Frankincense and Cinnamon. It's a spicy citrus and I love it.
I've got a mixed oil that has bergamot, orange. lemon, lime and grapefruit. I added some to my Amish Honest beard oil to give it more of a scent.
D.C.B seems to be scubas nemesis.
Ordered these up on amazon. The fact that I can make it myself now is huge. I received these the other day and made a batch. I included Coconut oil too. My skin is softer and my beard looks and feels much better. This is a game changer. Thank you for the info v
i love the scent of coconut oil and i will add it in my butter too
I just started trying to get my beard game up and have seen a few of your videos. After beginning this video, I now know you are gonna be my main man for the beardy things. Love the Louder with Crowder Mug man and the content is legit.
Thank you for everything Scuba if i didnt find you here i wouldn't have started to grow my beard
Well done brother, loved the multiple angles! Very well filmed. Love that scent profile.
thanks so much man!
LOVE the LWC mug on the counter! I knew I like you bro. Good man.
I'll have to try that one out!
I whipped up my first batch this morning, it honestly the best, store bought beard products are way too marked up!

Seem like something to try. I use coconut oil every day, it melts around 25C, so don't need that much work, to get the mixed with the scent.
I'm definitely going to try. I respect this man's opinion due to the fact that, I bought the brio axis trimmer and it was the best trim I've ever used.

I used this video to make butter. I gave a jar of it to my son and he thinks I am a genius. I will never tell him how easy it is. Love your content.

I've been making my own beard balm for a good while now, saves me a small fortune. Just another string to my bow. Good vid man
Awesome video. The little cut scenes in-between the butters melting had me dead 😂
Jojoba oil is processed from the plant grown the southern USA and northern Mexico. It's a Hispanic word, pronounced Ha-Ho-ba because our J is said as an H to them. Great video though!
yea, nice try bud
I love that you really included the link to the burner. Lol!
I’ve watched a million videos and this is the easiest one I’ve seen, thank you so much. This helped me tremendously!
First try today. Came out very nice, need to start messing around measuring and writing down so I can get that perfect spot locked down..
Oooh more tips, cocoa butter has a higher melting point so add it to your formulation to make the butter harder
This is going to be great! I started making beard oils a few months back and definitely want to try making butters since I ran out and this seems like a great way to get a lot of product for the price of the 1 jar of say beardbrand.

I'm just waiting for the video where Scoobs has an argument with his mom and roommate but he plays them both like Eddie Murphy. Happy New Year, bud!
Kedson, how many drops of each of the essential oils did you added to the blend?
My stove is just an expensive clock. Great video. Shibby.
lol big huge expensive clock
Very helpful video, thanks. I am actually about to play around with this myself and was looking at putting a small amount of beeswax in the mix to give a light hold.

Hey breaded bro, have you ever done a DIY for beard shampoo?
Just started a beard thanks to your vids and am looking to start of right so thanks scuba, good luck for this year looking forward to it
Nice! I’m going to try this! Hope to see how you make the oil too!
You try a whipped beard butter? I whipped it with a hand held whisk. I’m currently letting it sit in the freezer again. Love your page brotha
I did tallow butter and mango butter beard balm and it works great
@6:14 can someone please tell me what he is saying? Oohd. I clicked on the link for his essential oils but no longer listed. thanks.
Oud oil
A good idea when you take it off the heat, divide it into more containers this way you can have different scents...experiment..thanks I’m going to give it a try
scottvmatera exact same thing I was thinking to dp
Do*
“I’m just setting it there for a second! Chill out mom”!! Lol. Love it!!
Bro you crack me up! I’m new to the beard game. Growing my first beard in my 35 years. Love the videos. Took your recommendation on scotch porter and fresh beards. Loving them both. Happy new year!
always good to hear my advice helps!
Great video! I definitely will give it a try. Beard balms/butters are way too expensive.
Will definitely be making a batch of this next week!
Love the Crowder with Louder mug!
Came back for a refresher. Still have a Working Hands puck full of my last batch, but why not make more. Eucalyptus oil goes a long way too. Not even gonna try cinnamon cassia again. That stuff burns.
Great vid, minus that Crowder mug.
Super great video Scuba! I'm definitely going to try this soon.

i have used a similar respire to this for a couple years i add beeswax pellets when melting the butters and it makes a really good styling balm for beard or head hair .
I like the idea of beeswax too. Do u have a recipe with the amounts?
Great video can't wait to try this I just wish you would have put more Recipes for different sense that you may have tried
Outstanding, Thank you! Do the ingredients have a shelf life to consider in DIY?
I've been doing this for about 6 months. Short answer, No.
Longer answer, maybe? With so many different oils and butters to chose from it is possible a few of them might have expiration dates. One great thing about this DIY beard stuff, everything you use to make beard oil can also be used in beard butter and everything you use in beard butter can be used to make beard balm.
Beard Oil + Butter = Beard Butter
Beard Butter + Wax = Beard Balm
Vitamin E oil is a perservative...use very little, a few drops in the mixture
@@karmadump so beard balm and beard butter are two different things?
@@daryanneshoemaker149 Balm has wax in it for hold. How much wax will determine how much hold. Beard butter is just conditioning.
Don't want to sound rude saying this but Jojoba is pronounced Huh-ho-buh. Thanks for all your content its helped my beard look and feel a ton better.
i have also made my own Beard butter ingridents shea butter Hemp Seed oil Castor oil Jojoba and it is pretty good i done a test run with no Essential oils to get it right next one is going to be peppermint or cedar wood keep up the great videos
Love this video. I have all these ingredients from soap making. I just need to get the plug in stove top.
You are great! thanks for all the advice friend! a hug from Mexico! 🤗
Are the essential oils you used pure essential oils or are they fragrance oils?
Perfect video easy to follow perfect links to the product great video mate!!!
I have just started growing a longer beard and now seeing all the products out there thought man is this something I can make. Another great video. What scents would you use or suggest in trying to make a barbershop blend of oil and balm?
You should add some vitamin E oil to it it's really good for skin and hair. I always add some to the beard oils I make for myself
So I was I inspired by this video and contemplating making my own beard butter/beard oil brand as a business. I prefer butters over balms(no wax). I will say that compared to the one I bought the one butter that I made makes my beard feel way softer and more conditioned. I'm not gonna prepare a butter at home anytime soon .. but .. I love this video .. lol .. So good ..
Thanks for this! Happy New Year. Can you do a video about your ink?
This is so cool now I can try this at home with different aromas or the oils
This is awesome definitely going to try this!! Happy New Year Scuba!!!
Awesome video bro. Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna give it a try hopefully sometime soon. Like to have an update on how it ended up settling.
Been a sub since 5k and when I had a beard. Had to shave it but it's making a return now. Glad to see your channel growing 👍
Dude
Thst video rocked! U need to be making more videos like this bro!!
Will definitely try this !!!!
Thank you
You inspired me to have a go myself and I am happy with the results keep up the good work
Thanks for this mate , the whipped recipe would be great next bro ,
Thank you for sharing with us all of this knowledge. How can I make the butter in white colour ?
What kind of essential oils are you supposed to use ? The same ones used in diffusers ?
I found the combination i really like so i made a quart lol, that should last for a while, thanks for the video 👍.
Best vid I've seen all year!
You don’t need to add any preservatives when making oil/butter based products right ?
Nope. I’ve made this recipe lots of times and it doesn’t need any preservatives
Love the video. What brand of Oud oil do you use?
Looks like a great idea. Thank you. Going to try to do a batch. .... Question can you do a video for how to tame your beard for curly beards. My beard gets curly when it gets long.
Kool. Are the vanilla and oud fragrance oils?
Ooo first person to make it without beeswax! Will try it out
26nadz they are different. Once u add beeswax it’s now a Balm instead of a Butter.
Balm for hold, butter for conditioning
Crazy how easy it is to make these things (and cheap), but if i started I'd be tempted to turn it into a business, I have enough beard related addictions 🤣
Cool tutorial, I didn't think taking care of my own beard would actually be so simple and cheap.
Will definitely be giving this a try.
What other options are their for the oils that you added a lot of, the Jojoba oil etc... ?
Hemp seed oil tea tree oil jamaican black castor oil and jamaican black castor oil with vitamins a•d•e and alsoooo get vitamin e oil
After the ingredients come off the stove… How cool do you let it get before you add the fragrance oils? How long do you let it sit before you add the oils?

Nice one dude!! I think that Pyrex container with the pouring thing is called a jug 😂😂 great vid, now searching for the balm one!!
Great Video! Can u do 1 on oil?
Thanks Scuba!
How long should you wait before throwing the containers to the fridge? I guess it won't hurt the product itself if it's hot, but tge fridge may suffer some damage in the long run..

Thank you so much Scuba mate.
Great video on a diy project. Ill stick to making some of the best handmade wood combs on market.
Great video and stoked to make my own beard butter! Question though, where do you get Oud oil?
Happy New Year. Great video I remember when you did the balm video way back.
Outstanding work Mr 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Shoutout for that Louder with crowder mug 🤘❤️
Now what’s the secret to making it leave a matte look? Like fresh beards butters.
Made my own a few weeks back gotta make sure the oils are skin friendly.
very good idea!
