Unfair question since we're still guessing on many Bronco details. But, hey since we're guessing, I will definitely take the Coyote 5.0 Bronco that's gonna cost $15,000 over the 4Runner!

Still the Wrangler, Carlos. The new JL’s are actually pretty nice to drive, they’ve got better tech, much better fuel economy, great open air capability, and in terms of off road ability, nothing touches a Rubicon. Resale value is a wash. Maybe the new Bronco, we’ll see. 4Runner TRD Pro is now available in Green as Toyota’s way of reminding us they are printing money with this ancient drivetrain.

The 4runner is awesome and not some watered down soccer mom SUV. Leave it alone Toyota, maybe add more power and more gears in the transmission like the 8 speed in the land cruiser. My 4runner is the best built vehicle I've ever owned

I’m a proud 4runner owner and would still choose it over a Jeep Wrangler or anything else anyday. I just love everything about it and puts a smile on my face everyday I drive it as a daily driver yet off road it goes anywhere I want to go. The 4runner can do any kind of off roading but as an overlanding long trip off road vehicle it is perfect and where it truely shines along with some high speed trailing with those fox shocks.

FCA is laughable but Kias have come a long way. I bet you'll see 200k mile tellurides if taken care of. Pretty sure you get the best factory warranty in the car industry today with them as well.

4Runner's are one of the few Toyotas that are still made in Japan. Their QC is second to none. This makes the 4Runner one of the most reliable SUVs on the market. If you keep up with the oil changes, and transmission oil changes, they should last you for decades.

Not enough can be said about just how incredibly outdated the powertrain is in this vehicle. A 4.0L V6 + 5-speed automatic that get terrible fuel economy AND have problems getting the vehicle moving in 2020 is tragic. It took Toyota two decades to put proper headlights in a $50k SUV now that the 2021 model is finally getting LED headlights. There's something to be said for simplicity, but they've crossed from simplicity into complacency. Before Toyota/4Runner fans jump down my throat please note that I owned one for almost 2 years.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The 4Runner and the Land Cruiser are sold globally. In many of these global markets the infrastructure requires a reliable and robust vehicle that has legit off road chops. In these markets these two vehicles are actually used for their intended off road purpose and not to go to suburban parking lots.

Hello, I have a 2018 4runner Limited. a few months later, I noticed my front bumper kept clipping off. I advised Toyota Gabriel in St-Laurent and they insisted that I somehow hit my bumper in a snow bank and the reason why its un-clipping. Funny thing is I could clip it back on, it just un-clips once I start driving. After months of me complaining and having to use a lawyer to settle the issue for principle, the dealer finally advised me that it was a clip issue and they will replace the clips and fix it. They fixed it once, problem occurred again, fixed it a 2nd time, again same problem afterwards. They tried a 3rd time, changed the bumper again, tried gluing the bumper parts, and again the bumper kept un-clipping. I forwarded the issue again to the director at Toyota Gabriel and haven't heard back from them.
Now I realized my steering wheel was peeling away!! This is a 2018 Toyota 4runner Limited, and 2 years after, leather is peeling off??? So I contacted my dealer, I was under 50k kms and under 3 years and they told me its not covered. They said I used products I shouldn't or scratched it myself. I don't use products on my leather, I don't use armoral on my steering wheel! Its peeling all over. They said maybe its the sun and they are not responsible for environmental causing defects!!?? I then called Toyota Canada, spoke with Steven (he didn't want to give me his employee # or last name) and said the same thing. How can someone spend over 60k on an SUV and have these issues? Bumper detaching and steering wheel peeling is not normal under 3 years. Steven from Toyota Canada was rude and didn't want to escalate the issue. Basically blamed me for the issues and didn't want to help. I've always wanted a Toyota 4 runner, thought they were great vehicles, but it didn't take much to realize that they are cutting corners with employee training and parts because it is really unacceptable. I will also not let this go for principle. Lets start from hear, hopefully someone will help and get this resolved. I've also realized that these problems are happening to other owners and its causing lots of frustration for others. I've wasted many days trying to resolve the issues, a class action suit should be filed. How a company could blame a customer for defects blows my mind. Just to add, a week after I had the truck, I pulled on the trunk cover and the handle came off! Toyota said its not their fault. I glued it back, end of story but wow, Toyota should really start looking into their quality control because it's not looking good. I still love my truck, but these issues should be taken care of and if not, well that's it for Toyota, not worth the aggravation.

I think you missed the boat by not comparing it against the Jeep Grand Cherokee. While not body on frame, I crossed shopped the 4Runner against the Jeep GC and went with the Jeep. It offers all of the off road capability (especially the Trailhawk version) better on road comfort, economy and performance. Finally, it's cheaper, comes with a V8 and even the 3.6 is very good with the awesome ZF 8 Speed. That being said, still I kept my 2006 4Runner with the 4.7 because that's the best 4Runner ever made.

Problem lately with Toyota is they give you juuust enough year after year to peak your interest. They're banking on their reputation of quality and dependability to sell you a vehicle. Proof of that is they are 5+ years late in offering Apple Carplay or Android Auto. Yet, they're still using a 5 speed automatic, minimal design changes, and an engine that hasn't been upgraded since Fred Wilma, Barney, Betty, Pebbles and Bam-Bam went to a drive-in movie.

Toyota sitting on there laurels? Um so you must have not seen modern Honda’s because that’s a real manufacturer that’s actually sitting on there reputation, stop accusing Toyota of sitting on there laurels, if they were sitting on there laurels, there quality and reliability would go way downhill just like Honda, I don’t know why people always bag on Toyota for small things but not Honda, I don’t know why people don’t say Honda is sitting on there laurels, but they accuse Toyota of “sitting on there laurels”

Greg Weik well said man, people don’t seem to understand that about Toyota. While most car makers compete on stuffing useless features to sell their cars, Toyota in my opinion offers alternatives. This 4 runner is a clear example of that.

Where professionalism is concerned, I understand why you did(Or didn't) but, you failed to mention why you wouldn't want to get the Jeep/FCA product over the Toyota 4Runner, Since that is what you kept comparing it to. What I mean is "Reliability." Although, Everyone by now, or everyone in the off-roading community knows that even though The Jeep product is a little more capable than the 4Runner(Due to its Solid Front Axle, the disconnecting sway bars, and the front locking diff, all of which you did mention), It's the reliability Factor that has everyone questioning the Jeep at the end of the day, or TRAIL...

The 5th Gen 4Runner is jus too old. I had a 4th Gen V8 (2003) that I kept for 13 years. When I was ready to replace it, I test drove the 5th gen, but I just hated that drivetrain. That V6 is unpleasant and the transmission needs at least 3 more gears. I ended up buying a used Land Cruiser.
If I was in the market now, I'd take a close look at the Bronco. Toyota really needs to replace the 4Runner ASAP.
Also, if you look at where the radar cruise control was placed, it is quite low in the grill. This makes it problematic if you want to add a steel off-road bumper and winch.
