    Fuel sensor probably not reading enough fuel when you had it at an angle and a low tank to begin with 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @TexasTruckChannel
      @TexasTruckChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It was 90 miles to empty prior to the hill test, the angle surely threw it off.

    • @matth3wc
      @matth3wc ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably, the fuel range indicated 26 miles, so probably only had 1.5 gallons in a 30 gallon tank. Probably sucked some air in

    True GM quality the check engine light comes on trying to climb a small hill.. 😂😂

    My 2023 at4 with 3.0 diesel only 8000 miles is shot....never been off road and the entire electrical system has rendered the truck useless. It has been in the shop for 30 days with no fixes yet. GM told me tuff luck your dealer has to be the one to help you. Driving down the hill from colorado on I-70 the traction control went off then the 4wheel drive and then the truck shut off, no power brakes or steering, came back on after about 5 secs, longest 5 secs of my life, then hard shifted into limp mode. I thought the transmission fell out the back. loved this truck for the first 7999 miles. after seeing this video i think i may replace this with anything else if i don't have to sue gm first for a lemon.

    I traded in my 2nd Gen Raptor for the 2024 AT4X a couple weeks ago. I haven’t really had time to take this GM truck out but I can say it’s got a great ride. It’s no Raptor but so far it’s a great truck.

      For sure. The gm trucks are solid as well.

      Ive owned a raptor too, and got a 23 at4x july of last year. What i can tell u bro is that gm has better build quality, camera system, audio system. In the at4x u get the massage seats and digital rearview mirror. Kicker speakers on tailgate. I think the raptor was just a bit better on the offroad and it did a better job absorbing bumps because of the suspension and bigger tires. However ive taken the at4x offroad and it does just fine man. Hope u enjoy that truck im in love witth it

    nice video but most of these types of trucks come bundled with some sort of combo daily driver/all season/minor all terrain/type tires in order to keep fuel consumption low and help make it a daily driver for 98% of owners. Going to a larger, beefier MT tire would make a huge difference. The stock tires just couldn't get a good bite. Truck will climb. Low fuel will also trigger some of the safety warnings. But in short, I can't justify the $90k for a new AT4X. Much better options out there, including a cheaper trim with a nice lift kit and larger tires..

    I have a 23 AT4 I don’t have the AT4X but my truck did the same thing the first time I went off roading. I got completely stuck, used 4L, 4H and nothing worked. Truck would not let me shift, I had to turn it off 2 times and let it sit for 5min before I let me shift. The check engine light come on as well. I after I got out of mud the the check engine light stayed on, I had to drive it for about 10 miles before the check engine light turned off. Did GM ever got back to you guys???

    • @TexasTruckChannel
      @TexasTruckChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly they did not get back to us. But we do know that the truck has been repaired under warranty and it’s back in rotation.

    Imagine you’re way in the UT or CO back country and the truck tells you conditions not good to change gears. Warnings, engine lights…just to much electronic interference.

    I have one of these trucks, it looks cool and is very nice. It’s nice to have all these off-road features but if I’m gonna go wheeling I’m using the truck to tow my jeep to the trails. I feel like this truck would just drag on everything and I have 35” tires on it. I love everything about the truck. GMC makes the best looking trucks in the road right now.

  • @quintili1

  • @SnLProperties

    If you would have let some air out of the tires it would have grabbed on the 1st try and your would have gone up no problem.

    • @TexasTruckChannel
      @TexasTruckChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not no problem, but better for sure. We test every rig as they come off of the lot. That keeps it even a cross all makes and models.

    Do you think with a bigger tire things would have been little easier ? Even say a 34. Duratracs do have nice bite but the tires seemed little too small for a task like this ?love that new interior and the exterior is just classy but bad ass looking.

    • @TexasTruckChannel
      @TexasTruckChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh for sure. The leverage, surface area and bite increase would have made a huge difference.

  • @Hugeness
    @Hugeness ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That was 100% operator error. I like the video other than that.

    • @TexasTruckChannel
      @TexasTruckChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      A transmission error is not operator error. Thanks for watching 👍

    • @Hugeness
      @Hugeness ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The issue with the transmission was caused by way you attempted to go up that particular obstacle. Flooring it and smoking the tires with the axles locked is not the best to use that feature. Especially considering the way the truck was already up an against the rock you are trying to go over. Slow and steady would have been the best recipe for success. Backing the truck up and ramming it, which you did, was another way to do it. You likely could have done that unlocked, maybe even in 2wd with the rear locker on. Would you consider being in the bush operate error or was that the trucks fault as well?. @@TexasTruckChannel

    • @TexasTruckChannel
      @TexasTruckChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      We use the same method with every rig up this hill. We attempt to maintain a low speed to test mechanical grip without momentum. This is the best way to keep it consistent. Once a rig hangs up, we start using traction aids to get it out. We used the aids here, they failed. This was a first, and not the case for its competitors, including its zr2 twin.
      Once the aids did not get it done, we moved to bumping it (momentum). Getting into the bush is simply due to the width of a full-size rig, and the truck walking sideways with wheel spin. Thanks for watching, and chiming in.

    • @Hugeness
      @Hugeness ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Understood, however my points are still valid and you just proved my point. "This was a first, and not the case for its competitors, including its zr2 twin." Same truck, two different outcomes = operator error or different conditions, ie, not lining up in the exact some place, tires etc. Either way, spinning the tires to the point of smoke is not the best way to climb that obstacle.

    • @TexasTruckChannel
      @TexasTruckChannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Your telling me that top trim off roaders are fragile enough that a slightly different line and throttle application should cause the diffs to unlock and several transmission errors? That’s simply not right.
      Two mechanically identical trucks, same hill, same driving method = mechanical issue.
      My point about it’s twin not breaking is that we drive them using the same method to eliminate “operator error”. Sorry if I didn’t explain that clearly.
      Thanks for watching, and thanks for the feedback. I appreciate the analysis.

    Very very rare situations but if i were crawling some off camber stuff and that thing decided to pop into neutral it could be the reason my truck would roll into a tree or off a ledge. 100% a safety concern offroading so if it wasnt a fluke and is considered a feature to save the motor or drivetrain that would be the reason i would never buy one.

      Nice 👍 ...
      Now The Only Problem Is(aside From NOT Being Paid My Guitar Hero And ROCKBAND Money)
      I Can't Get A AT4X In A Double Cab Standard Bed🤷
      ...
      Found Out About ARB Air Lockers...🤔
      Aside From The Electric Lockers in The AT4X... It Would Be Between That..
      Chevy 5.3 V8 Double Standard
      Or
      Denali 6.2 V8 Crew Standard (can't get a double & don't want big cab🤷)
      So I Guess It's Pretty Much Deal With A Crew Cab Short Bed And Feel Like Joe Swanson From Family Guy With The Disability Of Truck Bed Room And Have The STOCK Electric Front & Rear Lockers🤷🤔...
      Or
      Get The Chevy(don't want Crew Cab or shirt bed) and Add ARB Air Lockers...🤔
      Ah I Remember Growing Up Getting Pissed Learning 4wd Wasn't Really 4 Wheel Drive😡🤷
      Damn I Was And AM STILL Pissed 😡😄🤷
      Hopeing The Stock 4hi, 4low would Engage all Four Equally🤷..and then auto for fast road Driving if needed like for snow or ice like in Minnesota Here🤷
      But NO... Its Auto, Auto & Auto😡🤷😄😡
