    i work as a physiotherapist and think the way you have described this exercise is perfect. Excellent stuff.

    Excellent video. In addition, if the patient looks down while perfoming the exercise, the deep neck flexor activation increases.

    Good demonstration and explanation. I teach this as a very important part of resolving somatic-type tinnitus.

    Absolutely brilliant overview, comprehensive visually and verbally. I've done it at least 200 times now while I work to better understand the movement and the right activation but I hope I continue to do the same tomorrow onwards.

    Nice job, going int great detail. I often use a cheap play ball from the store and have practice members do exercises, nodding and rotating a bit, holding ball on the wall. This demonstration would be perfect for the early stages of repair from an accident as it is more gentle than the ball. I liked this review a lot. Good job.

    Brilliantly explained! I had to see a physio years ago for a cervical spine issue and he had shown me this exercise exactly

    isnt the stenoclandomastoid muscle often facilitated already in people with forward head posture? i mean to my understanding the purpose of these exercises was to isolate the deep neck flexors in abscnece of the larger muscles. i could be wrong but to my understanding the clanddomastoid muscle, scalenes and levitator scapulae muscle are often strong, tight or facilitated in people with forward head posture, while the deep neck flexors i.e longus coli and capitius and inhibited and weak?

      Absolutely correct. We need very little movements to activate the deep cervical flexors like longus captis.

    I love everything about this video...except, that she is nodding too quickly in my opinion. I normally get my clients to hold their hand around their throat to feel for SCM/platysma activity, then nod slowly and gently until they feel the first sign of surface activation, then hold it for 10 sec.

    👍Perfectly explained in great clear detail!!
    One of my collarbones close to the edge of that shoulder makes a crunch sound when I move or rotate the shoulder so do you think the front neck muscle is the culprit which causes this?

    Great video! Quick question, why is it that these muscles are in the same location more or less anatomically yet we don’t want to work the scm? Also how does this happen (weak deep flexors but overactive scm)? Any other tips for getting the deep neck flexors opposed to the scm? Thank you!

      Because the SCM is not the first choice for the movement of "neck flexion". The deep neck flexors are much smaller and are better suited. But often they get inactive and the SCM takes over their work. But the SCM is a comparativly big muscle and if its overactive it leads to CLUSTERFUCK IN THE MOTHERFUCKING NECK (Headache, vertigo, hearing problems).

    When i do this my occipital muscle region gets tense, when in the double chin position. Is that okay? Almost gets worse in the back of my head after the exercise.

    Hello, have you a tip or solution for me because in every exercise for deep neck flexors i do i can't not activate even the SCM ?

      +SeBa Try using a pillow to elevate your head so that the range of motion for the movement is lower. This could help decrease activation of other muscles.

    Is there anyway to activate the SCM while sitting or standing so I can feel what not to use when I do my chin tucks?

    I was doing these yesterday and i stayed on the air for too long I hope you understand what i mean. Today I have been very dizzy. Do you think it’s because of that?

  • @rodj5375
    @rodj5375 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is it possible thatthe SCM bulk a little without contract but just because of the contraction of deep fleors that are underneeth ?

    • @robnash84
      @robnash84 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +SeBa It shouldn't if SCM is being inhibited by keeping the head in contact with the floor. I often get pts to press their head backwards gently to help with this.

    What do you guys think of the iron neck? th-cam.com/video/LM_cPkY3Yqg/w-d-xo.html would you supplement some of the iron neck work at some point in a healthy neck program? Thanks!
