This label was earned because of the famous pirates ( Henry Morgan, Black Beard etc ) and their gangs lived and used Port Royal as their base to plunder, kill and seize merchant ships traversing the ocean of the Caribbean. It was from those lootings ( wines, liquors, chest of gold and silver bullions and trinkets of precious gems) that afforded the pirates to attract more manpower, much to eat and wild parties and a carefree living. Pirates of the Caribbean ( the movie) with Johnny Depp as Black Beard is loosely based on those happenings. Not so known fact, most people in Port Royal are related to each other by varying degrees of separation only because of their size and distant from the nearest big cities; once told to me by a friend and former Port Royal resident.
Also want to add that piracy in the Americas during those times, was created by the British Empire to harass and destroy it's competition Spain, Portugal, france etc. Many of those Pirates were former British navy personnel.

Port Royal has a crazy rich history with some of the most famous Pirates/Privateers in the world settled and explored there. If you want to go to Lime Cay (the private island) ask Coco Boy his friends have a small yacht they head out there often.

Look at my childhood memories I remember the days when I use to go to that side of the ocean just to watch and listen to the sound of the ocean but fortunately there was no rocks I grew up in and around this area and I just can’t remember the sea over flowing and flooding the road maybe it happened after I migrated anyway I really have some happy memories enjoy Kino and Dee
