The anti piracy ad at the start is a parody of an actual one. It starts off with 'you wouldn't steal a car...'.
Piracy, it's a crime
Yes and I always used to think, WTF has is the FBI got to do with England!
It was memorable af, almost nostalgic cinema experience.
@seldom_bucket it's the 21st century's 'pearl & Dean'
Yeah I remember that advert on a lot of my old vhs videos
That "you wouldn't steal a car" thing is based on real anti-piracy ads that used to be shown at the cinema back then. I remember it specifically having the "you wouldn't steal a car" line in there.
Yeah and I used to think how many people watching that piracy warning actually would steal all those things
Back then my buddy had a side hustle burning movies onto dvds for people, he included a pirated version of the anti piracy advert.
I remember them being on DVDs as well. Naturally, they were removed from pirated versions of films and shows. So if you were a honest, law-abiding customer who had bought a legal copy of your favourite film or series, you were greeted with borderline threatening ads as soon as you inserted the disc. Meanwhile, that guy in class who had torrented all the seasons of said show could watch whatever episode he wanted without annoying interruptions of any kind.
Makes you feel really appreciated as a customer😆
The smoking spots getting worse and worse and the last scene where they have to cross over the motorway to go to the new smoking spot and Jen gives up is great, with the background depressing music. It's the little bit of surrealism in the tv show that just adds an extra hilarious touch
It was mimicing the film based on the book Gorky Park
The line "people, what a bunch of bastards." I still say randomly to this day
Yes, I love that line cos it is so true.
You guys should watch the bloopers after you're done with the series. And yes, there are bloopers of them trying to get through the scene where Moss says he's in an ethical pickle. Chris O'Dowd (Roy) had to leave the room because he couldn't stop laughing.
the irony of watching this with "for copright reason " on the screen lol
Around the time this was made, there actually was a German cannibal who sourced his 'victims' online. I put victims inverted commas because he wanted people who agreed to the process and he didn't kill them, just ate various parts..
I remember that story, but not the man himself.
If I remember rightly, the guy who was going to be eaten changed his mind and they really did end up watching Oceans 11 together.
lol, you remember wrongly - look up the antics of Armin Meiwes
If I remember correctly the German cannibal consensually cut off another mans penis, fried it and they both ate it.
@@Wagoo Yes, I'm probably hazy on the details. Looking back, it seems that these writers use more topical references that most. I'm wondering if the ETS guys will get the XP reboot reference coming up in a later episode , I suspect many younger computer users wouldn't nowadays..
I"ve been to a taping of the IT Crowd. They do have to do retakes. And Richard Ayoade is so good, he would change the punchline on his own each time to keep it fresh.
Father Ted, IT Crowd and Black Books are Created/Written by the same guy. You should watch Black Books next
The scene you didn't think they could get through without laughing...they really didn't 😂
Jen slipping into a Gorky Park plot was brilliant
The opening clip about downloading videos is something my partner and I quote to each other all the time - always makes us laugh!
Does anyone remember the British band called fine young cannibals?
Lol , I noticed during your reaction you skipped over the mention of "fine young cannibal" they where a band from Birmingham England in the 80s-90s one of their best songs was "she drives me crazy" if you fancy checking them out 😅
One of my favourite lines from the episode. Creases me up everyone I hear it
UK comedies just hit different.😂
Funny enough you mentioned how they managed not too laugh at some of the scenes. Theres some good outakes videos of it crowd worth checking out once you finish the series.
This came out around the time of the indoor smoking ban here.. hence the exaggerated plot for effect aha
This is based on the real-life story of a German cannibal Armin Meiwes.
For anyone who wonders why people thump televisions, it is actually redundant in this age of flatscreens and integrated circuits and probably was when we had CRT and transistors. It goes back to the age of valve technology (the Dibnah age) where valves sat in sockets and sometimes the sockets/pins got corroded, or the sockets were badly made. A thump was sometimes needed to encourage the valve to reseat itself.
It can also feel satisfying to those who feel overwhelmed by (or averse to) technology, especially if it results in the equipment working again..
“There’s somebody at the door” is a reference to an old British children’s show from the 80s called “Emu’s World”.
Loving this! One of the funniest shows to come out of the UK, definitely. 😁
Yes the scene where moss says "I'm in an ethical pickle" they must have retook that about 4 or 5 times, as roy kept laughing! The bloopers are so good!
Fine Young Cannibals was a 1980s British rock pop band.
Jay and Silent Bob - 'this is my hetro life mate'
Moss and Roy - 'your my wife! your my wife!'
they are just opposite sides of the same coin
The IT crowd is one of my favourite shows ever. It's great to see you guys enjoying it for the first time.
The first time I watched this series I laughed so hard when Roy slapped the police officer 😂
24:08 "Fun" Fact: A friend of mine and the cannibal of Rottenburg did an IT project together and he remembered him being very polite and friendly and great to work with. LOL.
And to be fair he didnt just kill anyone but asked on a forum for someone who wanted to be dont that to him.
Still is horribly, horribly wrong, but I just remembered that when I saw that again.
This is based on a real incident of cannibalism involving Armin Meiwes. He advertised for someone to eat and got several replies, most eventually backed out and he let them leave. In one case after backing out they went to see the movie Ocean’s 11. Eventually he found someone who didn't back out and he killed and ate them.
Yea but what's the song he played tho....?
@@Olly1987 Its the programs opening and closing credits plaid on a cello (he happens to be a professional cello player as well as an actor).
Who remembers Limewire?
Spending 3 days downloading one song just to press play and hear “This is Bill Clinton” or some other total BS 🙃
Anyone who has 'the birds dance tune ' as their door bell tune is obviously a psychopath
When he sings there's somebody at the door, its from a kids TV show.
Another show Graham Linehan was involved in, which stars most of the same cast as this show, is Garth Merenghi's Darkplace. Its wackier than this and is absolutely bloody hilarious! I would suggest checking it out sometime maybe after you have finished IT Crowd.
that asshole was involved in that damn. that's annoying
The Moss / German cannibal situation is somewhat based on real-life. There was a German guy (who was a computer repair technician funnily enough) who advertised for someone to eat, and ridiculously someone did actually respond... i'm sure you can guess what happened next.
The German guy was called Armin Meiwes.
The guy who plays Roy was the Irish cop who was the romantic lead in Bridesmaids. Coach from Cheers played the head mafia guy in Raging Bull.
Inspired by the real-life case of Armin Meiwes & Bernd Brandes in Germany in 2001.
Back in 2003 there was a weird case of a cannibal in Germany that advertised for victims and eat someone that came forward!?!?!?!
Top pick! I love every single episode of the I.T. Crowd. Must have watched them all six times over. It's so hatd to choose a favorite so I will just say that this ranks as higly as any of them. Genius writing and superlative comedic acting all-round.
the actor for dominator also voiced stede bonnet in ac4 black flag
You got two south park eps mixed up but i'd never linked the two 😂😂
That's spot on, the ghosts of Christmas past guilt tripping him that the drummer has a normal luxary swimming pool and not the gold plated one.
Miriam Margoyles on Graham Norton on Friday usually downloaded, on TH-cam, full episode in Saturday.
I don't think you really appreciate what happened to smokers in the early 2000's - Discrimination, intolerance, bigotry, inequity. We were forced out of our Smoking Rooms, first down to dingy basements with no windows, then outside. Sometime even without any shelter. The Stalinist progroms of HR departments - it was hell
I would suggest if you need more Graham Linehan next to try "Black Books" - or just something in the same vein, "Spaced"
Think it was Dominator who turned Roy in? I do.
I feel all eps are classics. Keep seeing the next one pop up and remember how good it is
I haven’t had much time for TH-cam for a while so haven’t seen many of your reaction videos for a bit…. But I was pumped to see you’ve started the amazingness that is the IT Crowd!
How the hell you make a honest living out of this is mental
People who like to guess the ending could write what they think the ending is in an envelope & reveal at the end if they were right. Everybody's happy!
Now this is how u write comedy, the writers of IT crowd are really intelligent
Glad you are enjoying these. The next episode will kill you! 🤣🤣🤣
I enjoy watching Spencer, and HIS 'wife'. :o)
you guys should watch the Vicar of Dibley. That is a really funny British show. I think you would enjoy it!
The copyright policeman is the same guy who played the barman in the Inbetweeners..
I can't wait for the calendar one its so funny
The Uk has the best comedy shows
Fun Fact: In the U.K. it’s not actually illegal to eat human meat!
It is however illegal to obtain said meat without the owner’s consent and obviously murder is illegal even if it’s assisted and consented to by the victim.
It’s also illegal to tamper with a crime scene and the act of ‘unaliving’ results in a crime scene, so it’s not legal to obtain the meat that way either.
There are however a handful of ways you can legally obtain human tissue for the purposes of consumption and people have done so in the past. Once two tv hosts ate surgically removed bits of one another live on tv.
I am laughing just from the title as I know what is coming up. :)
6:28 Well, that wasn't weird or awkward AT ALL!🤣🤣🤣
He was a fine young cannibal!
Same writer t from father ted wrote THE IT crowd
A Fine Young Cannibal 😂
i remmeber when that was in front oif every movie xD
German guy plays theme of show on his cello!🎻🎻
When you get the end of season 2 check out the bloopers and out takes
Ps have guys watched black books. Just to tell you there is a one off season 5 episode to the it crowd so you don't miss it.
Watch an episode of Countdown before you do the Countdown episode if you haven't already!! It would be a shame for most of the jokes of a full episode to go over you heads.
They've done a few vids from 8 out of 10 cats does Countdown I think
Special at the end
If you like Graham Linehan then watch 'Black Books'
Father Ted? No?
An Father Ted @@SpacenSpooks
these two are like roy and Moss
I could be wrong, but, I think you like this Programme.
Is there any series in the US that can compare with British comedy writing!
The greater good 🙏🏻
in the UK, a prregnant woman can legally urinate in a Policemans helmet. He has to allow her to do it. I say "he" has to because male and female Police officers wear different "hats" in the UK.
"You're my wife Daniel, You're my wife."
CRAZY SERIES!!! YOU'D LIKE
"ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT"
"SCHITT'S CREEK" BOTH HILARIOUS!😂😅😂😅😆
Yup...
Eating a person in Germany was not illegal (with consent) while I lived there. Odd quirk of law.
(It's the correct storage of human carcasses that caused all the legal headaches...)
There used to be a little place in Berlin that specialised in such dishes.
That was great fun... my call is Spencer is the wife 😉
THEY BANNED SMOKING AT UNIVERSITY I WORKED AT....YES...WE FELT LIKE OUTCASTS!!!! SMOKED BEHIND DUMPSTERS!!!🚬🚬👍👍🚬🚬
Graham Linehan is a genius. He also wrote Black Books another great show. It's a shame people have gone so politically correct he gets demonised for the IT crowd from LGBT members looking to cancel him. You have to be mad if you take this show as something to be offended by.
Mad or unable to comprehend what a parody is
he gets demonised because he reported a transgender kids charity to the government after they won a lottery to prevent them from having access to more funding. He is a despicable man.
He doesn't exactly help himself either. Talking too much in Twitter to people that are not worth having a discussion with.
Twitter destroyed him (and his marriage) sadly, but he was a comedy writing genius back then
I would question WHY h's getting cancelled, cos it for sure ain't the shows he's writing. Maybe people need to stop posting their inner thoughts for all the world to see on social media?
THE SMOKING BIT IS HILARIOUS!!!!🚬🚬🚬🚬
Lads, ye missed out big time by not being in Europe for the German cannibal scandal back in the day...
Great band at that time were "THE FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS"💀💀💀💀💀🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃💀💀💀
I like guessing twists too but I usually just keep my theories in my head unless someone asks or we have a sort of post-discussion after watching a movie. I can understand reactors doing it for their material and it is fun to hear their theories but what Douglas was doing was exaggerated and it is quite annoying when done to that degree-instead of paying attention to the movie, he just constantly throws any kind of theory around however outlandish. I knew someone who acted the same and he'd always act smug later when one of the multiple guesses he's made turns out to be right.
The writer just did an interview, he's blackkballed?
You know its the same creator as father ted?
german food ? isnt that western diet ? burgers and sausages
Apparently, Zoomers (Generation Z) are not as inclined to pirating videos like Millennials or Gen Xers are.
I CAN TOTALLY RELATE TO ROY'S ATTITUDE ABOUT WATCHING FILMS!!!👍👍👍👍👍🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
I have Bulgarian friends and they always watch English language movies dubbed over. I hate that. Personally I would watch a foreign film in its original language with sub titles as dubbed versions are always garbage and I would want to watch it as intended.
MATT BERRY (DOUGLAS) IS FUNNY IN "THE TOAST OF LONDON" AND "THE TOAST OF HOLLYWOOD" BOTH VERY FUNNY!!!!🤓😂😅😆😁😄🤓😂😅🤓
wait till you see the FROM IRAN episode:P
No need for "Copyright Reason" on screen. IT CROWD HAS BEEN VIEWED ONLINE FOR YEARS!!👍
The copyright section at the start is a bit on the nose for a react channel
GOOD FOR HALLOWEEN "TUCKER & DALE VS. EVIL" IS SCARY BUT HILARIOUS!!!!🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
YOU GUYS GOTTA SEE MATT BERRY IN "WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS" SERIES...FRIGGING HILARIOUS😄😁😆😅😂🤓🤓🤓🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
I'm still hoping Daniel will come out as gay and decide he wants to live in the UK.
YOU'D LIKE "BLACK BOOKS" DYLAN MORAN & BILL BAILEY👍👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍
i think "the new boss gets a girlfriend" episode is the best bad taste episode.
- also - _Never grow up! Never Surrender!_
The Speech is the second most popular ep on IMDb.
@@andrewq159 - ah ... the Speech! ... i completely forgot the title.
I KNOW HOW HE FEELS ABOUT "WE'RE AN OLD MARRIED COUPLE"!!! I KNOW MANY!!!🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
ANY MOVIE I CAN GUESS THE ENDING TURNS ME OFFFFFFF!!!!!!😵😵😵😵😵
🇬🇧 Norfolk : such a great show 😊
