@@Dragonpuncher123 I think is because Gollum is one of the deeper character in TLOTR, and he has been written (and adapted by PJ) beautifully. In a dimension where the line between good and evil couldn't be more stark, Gollum is one of the very few characters that shows ambivalence, and as a result it appears weirdly relatable. When he does something bad and as readers/spectators we are about to make our mind to hate him for good, something else always happens to bring us right back in the muddled zone: He should die for creeping on us, but Gandalf tells us not to be so hasty in our judgements; He's revolting, but we get told he was just like us before the ring corrupted him; He's leading us into a trap, but without him we wouldn't have been able to reach our destination in the first place. And in the very end the mission is a success literally because of him. Gollum is a masterpiece of ambiguity, and I think his nature speaks to us of a universal level, regardless our background, race, and culture.

A tale of mighty warriors, wise wizards and evil lords and the most unlikeliest creature of them all is timeless and is grounded in all humanity. All people, all cultures relate to the simplicity of a pure good vs a pure evil with an underdog caught in the middle, that's the absolute beauty of Tolkien's works.
"Soldier Sir" who plays Aragorn, Viggo Mortensen, is a real-life hero! He almost DIED, TWICE, during this trilogy. One by almost freezing to death in the river, and before that, by REALLY stopping the thrown dagger with his sword in part 1! He also broke his toe while kicking the orc helm, his scream is real pain, but he continued running and filming anyway! He also bought two of the horses for him, and kindly bought one for the horse stunts who could not afford it.
Awesome actor for an awesome role. And he wasn't yet a big name in Hollywood at the time. Most of the main characters weren't. They did a fantastic casting job with these movies.
Viggo wasn't the original Aragorn. They had another guy out there and settled with the main cast, but fired him at the last minute, for reasons never fully given, mainly miscasting afaik. He was too young.
Someone please help Babu with his headphones, he couldn't stop fixing them😆 Also loved his adorable singing in the end and watching the embarrassment of the others. Lovely trio, I can't wait for part 3.

I always enjoy seeing people's reactions to Eowyn. I think most people appreciate a courageous woman who's willing to fight and sacrifice for others regardless of what different traditions have had to say about gender roles through the centuries. After all, the character of Eowyn was written by a WW1 vet starting in 1937 and Western cultures had very different ideas about the roles of women then compared to now, but she was written even MORE badass in the books than she was in the movies. Not a perfect character, but very real and understandable and absolutely badass when it came time to take care of business.
I love these guys so much. This video is proof that there is an ancient wisdom among the peoples of this world. I have a Master's degree in literature and I have watched this movie a million times, still, there was so much to learn here. They see things that are so simple yet so deep and powerful. I could watch them talking about this the whole day. This is why LOTR is so incredible, it brings greatness out of simplicity in everyone, and it's really a beautiful thing. I absolutly love because of how close they all are where other people would get crappy and say dont talk over me they each just get louder then the other and keep talking. The small look of annoyance and acceptance was really cracking me up. You can most certainly see the love there.
It's also a matter of culture I guess. I worked with Indian people and noticed that they are much more used to speaking loudly and talking over each other than I am. I'm Russian and it was hard for me to keep up sometimes. Or maybe this it's not a common experience I don't know

These men have charmed me. Their reactions demonstrate the power of good storytelling, and the humanity we all share. I want to have supper with these men share stories and become friends.
Violence, War, Romance, adventure and epic landscapes - but what really touched the heart of these guys, children scared and in danger ! This is really pure hearted people watching the movie.
The scene where Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli the dwarf meet Gandalf is one of my favourites: she was shing with light and it was like meeting an angel. It was perfect because Gandalf *is* an angel. He's a spirit, a heavenly messenger who lived in a human body. When he died his spirit ascended to the heavens but Eru Illuvatar (the One God of the world Tolkien Created) sent him back and gave him a new body.
Fun fact - the actor who plays Aragorn broke his foot when kicking the helmet at 11:20 But he kept on performing, the scene turned out so good with him screaming in pain, that they used it for the movie.
Also fun fact, when they shot the scenes where Aragorn and Gimli and Legolas were running to catch the Uruk-Hai, they were filming the actors run over multiple days - and Orlando Bloom had a broken rib at the time from a previous scene injury but he told them to commit and keep filming and they completed it all in one go. Everyone from the cast were 110% committed to giving it their best. Truly a quality of production and dedication we are unlikely to ever see again.
@@Real_MisterSir And at the set of Rings of Power the actors need therapists, because sometimes screams come from every side or because some stunt trainer showed the main actress, how an attack would look like
Since they admired the wide shots so much, I would love to see them react to a video about New Zealand. Particularly one that's explicitly about the filming locations of LotR.
I still can't wrap my head around how New Zealand seems to be made up of all the best parts of the rest of the world. Great plains, forests, mountains and meadows - all in one place!
And this time the length of the movie was not enough for Babu - the mastery of J. R. R. Tolkien is global, calling deep within all of us, born in 1892 and dead in 1973 itself must have been an epic intellectual journey. Now, I cannot wait to see the boy's faces again. Fantastic video.
Hey guys, you know what watching this has made me realize? You guys should totally buy a really nice projector and sound system. I lived in a little South American village up in the mountains for about a month twenty years ago, and they had such a setup. One man would ride a stationary bicycle generator for about an hour every morning, and this would charge it up enough that the entire village would come out and watch a movie together at night. These were some of the best and happiest times of my life, and seeing all the villagers enjoy a movie together like that touched my heart so much that it changed the course of the rest of my life. I really think that not only would the villagers enjoy it very much, but our heroes (Babu, Raeen, Sarru, Badshah and the rest) would probably also love very much to share their favorite movies with friends and family.
Great idea! We do that here on the side of the superstore with a projector on the car since we have no drive-ins anymore. This way the grandkids get a sort of drive-in experience. 🖖🏻🇨🇦
I wish they had shown Badshah the first part, but the thing is, most of these people are excellent storytellers. I think he will get just as rich, if not a richer experience from them telling him the story in more detail later. I’m sure this is a story they will tell everybody back home.

@@Dragonpuncher123im iraqi and even here he is the most famous character from LotR. Years later my family still talks about him and makes jokes about my cousins looking like him and whenever someone is obsessed with something they are called Smeagol
@@stanbuck7676 Haha that's awesome 😂 we love him here in Denmark as well. I guess there's just something about that character that draws people in from all backgrounds.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is the greatest trilogy ever made. Without ever reading the book or Nader standing the background of the characters they still understand the basis of the movies. Their reactions are priceless and they are really into this movie. Bless all of them. Such wonderful people.
Yes, you're right!
I think Clerks 2 said something that may disagree with this statement.
Three movies of walking! Even the god damn trees walked in this movie.
@@JaymeSplendid Oh well, if a character in Clerks 2 said it then I guess we have to take back the Oscars. Reminds me of my 11 year old nephew describing Titanic as "a boring movie where a ship sinks". Well, at least he like the Lord of the Rings films. He's a kid, but not Clerk 2 dumb.
Of course they can understand it. The books were based on myth. Myths are universal.
I know! I love Viggo Mortensen, a real gentleman, and an educated intellectual! He can speak something like 6 or 7 languages, including Arabic!
When the younger guy on the right put his head in his hands...lol...c'mon, don't do that, we're all loving it
As someone pointed out in the previous video, Babu breaking into song is the most Tolkien-appropriate reaction.
"he has a ball in which he sees everything" dude just understood the importance of the Palanthir better than any of the western reaction channels
Raeen laughing when Badshah says he would pee in fear if he saw gollum 😂
Lol I was laughing too, to be jonest!
@@gabrielesolletico6542 same
I love how accurately and intuitively they understand the story
"OMG the Buffalo has gone into the water" ROFL!!!
"You Rhino" LMAO
The intensity with which they express their admiration for the "beauty" of the scenes and characters should make everyone who was ever involved in this trilogy from the ground up proud.
Can’t wait for Return of the King. I love seeing people watching this trilogy for the first time
Hopefully, they will do The Hobbit Trilogy next. 🤞
Seeing them cheer on Eowyn to be a fighter was pretty cool. I thought they might say “what does she think she’s doing” or something like that.
"Beat them! Kill those bastards!" - Babu, circa 2023. 😂😂😂
Raeen saying he misses Sarru after seeing the dwarf lmao
‘They made a mistake leaving this poisonous snake alive’
poetry.
It's great how in love with the world they are, not just the characters and story.
The landscapes are a major part of these stories' appeal. Filmmakers were lucky New Zealand exists.
Sending all the love from Brazil. Can't wait for the last part.
A Master's in Lit huh? Is that why your watching TH-cam in the middle of the afternoon? ;)

Man, I already know that Babu is a passionate guy, but it's still fun to see it every time. I love how whenever there was a romantic scene the other two would be rolling their eyes while Babu is reveling in it XD I wish I could exhibit a fraction of that level of passion for life.
I love how watching these movies turn us all into wide-eyed children, you feel that special sense of wonder, adventure, excitement, you become so immersed and invested in the characters and story that, just for a few hours, myth and magic become REAL. Even these grown gentlemen seem like excited young boys! I can't wait to see them react to the final instalment :D
Their compassion for the women and children got to me. May all the gods bless these fine gentlemen.
I absolutly love because of how close they all are where other people would get crappy and say dont talk over me they each just get louder then the other and keep talking. The small look of annoyance and acceptance was really cracking me up. You can most certainly see the love there.
Reminds me of some of my family and friends, with me on the side listening trying not to laugh because they are arguing in agreement with each other.
It's called constructive overlapping, if you're familiar with one another you can sort of know each other's speech rhythms well enough to do this
I loved the young man adjusting the middle uncle's hat. It made my heart go all gooey
It's also a matter of culture I guess. I worked with Indian people and noticed that they are much more used to speaking loudly and talking over each other than I am. I'm Russian and it was hard for me to keep up sometimes. Or maybe this it's not a common experience I don't know
Sounds like it might be a bit rough over there if you're not comfortable projecting your voice like that. Lol.
(About Merry & Pippin travelling with Treebeard) "Those two guys are doing nothing, they're just sitting and visiting the whole jungle". 😂 Your reactions were utterly priceless, love you so much guys, can't wait for the third movie! 😊
He was also complaining that they didn't even have to boy tickets to get that long ride Lol
I can't express how much I love this. The best part was when they all got bashful during the kissing scene. I think that part stuck with Uncle the most. He was reliving his youth and the song at the end was wonderful even though it embarrassed his relatives. Pure gold.
Please please make sure all three get to watch Return of the King. It would be terrible to leave them in suspense and the last movie is the best!
Still can't believe these movies were as good as they are. I don't think they could've been accomplished even two or three years before they started filming. Props to Jackson and the actors and everyone involved. They made magic. And I know it took a shit ton of time and dedication to make it work. And JRR Tolkien's imagination of course.
Their enthusiasm made me flashback when I saw them first run in the theaters. Everyone was screaming at the screen jumping up and down and clapping.
"Babu would you take sword or arrow?"
Babu - 'I'm too old for that crap'
I think it's cool how they were really able to appreciate Gandolfs horse, moreso than most of us watching from the more "developed" countries.
I loved how they teased middle uncle when the lovers kissed. haha
The scene with the Ents is powerful, nature was ravaged so it came back to unleash itself on the ravaged lands and reclaim them
"I don't feel comfortable when kids are shown in pain"
aww - such a kindhearted and wholesome old man 😭
"Why are you so interested in these two? One is bald and one is a dwarf" Bahahahahaha
Now I'm waiting on the edge of my seat to see them watch Return of the King. ❤ Their reactions are perfect! I love seeing how such a pure story touches people from all cultures. We all love the heroism, the bravery, the beauty.
Would love to see you guys show them some of the behind the scenes material from the movies! (after watching Return of the King of course) a number of their comments indicated they seemed curious about where it was filmed, how certain things were made etc, and it was a major labor of love for Peter Jackson & all of Weta Workshop :) I definitely think they would appreciate it. Thank you so much for making these vids! Love seeing how timeless and cross-cultural Tolkien’s themes are!!
Brilliant idea!!!! Especially since the little guy playing Frodo is Indian and his relationship with Viggo is priceless.

this is one of my favorite films from one of my favorite series of all time. I love seeing new people watch it and experience this epic story for the first time.
I’m so glad someone else likes Two Towers as much as me.
I'd say tFotR - 10,0, tTT - 9,9, tRotK - 9,6
I wonder if they will get the opportunity to watch |The Hobbit trilogy.
Imagine their reaction seeing Smaug, the great dragon!
Same.

I love how excited the whole fella gets when he seed Aragorn and Arwen smoochie. Me too friend. me too.
The middle man is so animated and emotional in his reactions. He is inside the story, and he is really interested in what's happening.
These men have charmed me. Their reactions demonstrate the power of good storytelling, and the humanity we all share. I want to have supper with these men share stories and become friends.
This channel and their other one are golden. Best channels on TH-cam for sure.
Violence, War, Romance, adventure and epic landscapes - but what really touched the heart of these guys, children scared and in danger !
This is really pure hearted people watching the movie.
It is so refreshing to see people just enjoy watching a movie without criticizing everything in it. I’m hooked. These men are so pure and genuine.
Fun fact - the actor who plays Aragorn broke his foot when kicking the helmet at 11:20
But he kept on performing, the scene turned out so good with him screaming in pain, that they used it for the movie.
Someone had to say it haha
Lmao it’s “that” guy everyone 😂
@@Scrub_Jake I came too late to say "first".
So I choose this. 😉
@@Real_MisterSir And at the set of Rings of Power the actors need therapists, because sometimes screams come from every side or because some stunt trainer showed the main actress, how an attack would look like
Nice!! I was hoping you guys would do the sequel too after seeing the first part.
Buddies ribbing each other while watching a movie is definitely universal...😅
Since they admired the wide shots so much, I would love to see them react to a video about New Zealand.
Particularly one that's explicitly about the filming locations of LotR.
Imagine their reactions to the lighting of the beacons. Part Three will be great.
I still can't wrap my head around how New Zealand seems to be made up of all the best parts of the rest of the world. Great plains, forests, mountains and meadows - all in one place!

All I kept thinking the whole time was that they needed popcorn, candy, and more comfortable chairs! lol! I'm so happy they love these movies though!!
Can't wait for them to see part 3!
Badshah said "Here's Raeen's best friend" lmao!
They're so invested and it's incredibly touching.
the guy in the middle and his reactions are absolutely precious. he is exactly the kind of person cinematography exists for
The thing I notice is how excited they are about individual scenes, which is something that is often overlooked these days. Love that.
I like how they talk for so long after the movie ended, it shows real interest from their part.
11:20 I love this scene so much. The actor's cry of anguish is real because he actually broke his toe when he kicked that helmet.
Watching their reactions is as close as I can come to reliving the experiences I had watching these movies on opening day.
This is the most interesting reactions ive seen I liked how they called Gollum a Djinn.
I wish they had shown Badshah the first part, but the thing is, most of these people are excellent storytellers. I think he will get just as rich, if not a richer experience from them telling him the story in more detail later. I’m sure this is a story they will tell everybody back home.
I did with Raeen catching him up.
I absolutely adore the middle guys overly active hand gestures
That’s Babu. He is my favorite person on earth. I watch this channel and their other one religiously. Common Man Show is the name of their other channel.
I love how so many people watching lotr for the first time think that the light at the final rohhirim charge is some Gandalf spell, and here they correctly say that its the sun rising :)
47:13 that old man is pure comedy, I laughed my ass off with this commentary hahahaha
This was quite easily the most wholesome thing I have ever seen.
"Raeen's best friend has arrived!" That was savage.
It's so funny, now that there are two older gentlemen, the younger totally steps back and respects their seniority. I would have still liked to hear a bit more from him though.
It's nice to know that cultures still exist where elders and their opinions are respected. If this was three Americans or Europeans the youngest would do all the talking while rolling his eyes at his 'embarrassing' older relatives.
Never change guys. You are doing it right.❤
Not because of youth, but Raeen is my favorite. He is really sharp, and a good man to boot.
I'm not exaggerating when I say this, but I absolutely adore every single person who has ever appeared on this channel. You can tell that every one of them has a big heart and a pure soul. Also, to the people who run this channel and are responsible for us being introduced to these men ... Thank you!!
I love the guys who watched the first, and now the second movie. It is so interesting to see what another culture thinks of the films and the story. And it reminds me that we are all really the same in our hopes and fears. Well done guys!
