Thank you so much for this video! It was so helpful. I bought a dozen hatching eggs and it looks like most of them are infertile, is that just something that happens when buying them?

Glad we could be of some help! From my experience, if any hatching egg is shipped, the eggs are almost impossible to hatch. The shipping and handling destroy the air cell. Cold temps can alter the eggs as well. Have you tried local hatching eggs? Driving home with those yourself should protect the eggs, we have done this several times and all have hatched well.

I would love to know which candler you use in this video. 2 weeks ago pI gave a neighbor a full hatch of fertilized eggs. Lots of them were green eggs from my Easter eggers. They said the green eggs were harder to candle than their Black Copper Marans. But they did it in a pitch black room. Yesterday was day 14. All fertile and developing normally.

We use a handheld Magicfly candler. It’s always worked wonderful for us!

How many days into incubation were these eggs? I am trying to candle my eggs but the shells are very thick and dark, but then again its only been 2-4 days lol!

I would have to go back and watch since it’s been a while since I’ve posted the video. If you could see a chick moving, probably 14 days. At 2-4 days, it’s going to be hard to see. We’re doing a new series “How To Incubate Eggs” and we’re going to do day by day candling and incubation. We have Olive Eggers, Maran eggs, and Ameraucana eggs. That may help you to see what to look for. I’d give it a couple of more days, but candle every day to notice how the egg appearance is changing when you candle. Best of luck! 😊
