  • Candling Chicken Eggs Day 7 From Our Incubator
Today made 7 full days of Incubation time for our Chicken Eggs.
Let's get into it and find out what we can see and what we can't.
I'll show you how to know for sure if an egg is fertile or not.
I'll be using the MagicFly Egg Candler to candle the eggs from the
    OppsDecor 56 Egg Incubator.
Check out this great video :

There are MANY different ways to incubate eggs. Keeping consistent temperature and humidity levels is the key to success. In still air incubators the temp needs to be about 1 degree higher than the forced air type. Watch for signs of early death, "The Red Ring of Death" it's very noticeable usually right around the center of the egg. When you candle if using white eggs you'll see most everything, darker eggs or green eggs can be a challenge to see anything through. If you've any questions, let me know and I'll try to help you. Thanks for watching the videos!

Nice video. Texas a & m did a study on the hatch rete for the last three days to lower temperatures 1 degrees to 98.5 the last three days they develop better they say. I just started back with a few hens so my big industrial incubator I gave away after a heat spike in July one year o lost my Nelson chicks in the eggs didn’t hatch . My fault totally anyway I got a small -2 egg incubator now but use my hens when I can. The fresher eggs hatch first . You can check that . I wouldn’t change temperature cause we going just fit ourselves and we can hatch more later. Ty fir the video

Ty for this. Had chickens my whole life, have some non brooder layers... Got an incubator.. first egg looks exactly like you described. Veins and a little black ball inside. Chicks are getting harder to order. I'm out to July on a small order. Decided to hatch our own .. after all can't rely others to feed us ❤️ I subbed... Ty again.

I believe the rubber piece on your candler is upside-down.. also is the rubber piece for small quail eggs underneath it? youre suppose to remove that one completely and use the chicken egg one only.. would probably be alot brighter

Hi, I'm using Genesis Hova-Bator 1588 with turner. The temp and humidity is stable.
I purchased Brahma eggs from a lady and let them rest before setting them in the bator which was already going.
When I candle a couple today, day 7, the shells are very mottled making it quite difficult to see inside.
I will wait until day 10 now to do the rest 😌.

I incubate parrot eggs and they are more difficult to incubate compared to chicken eggs,
now the temp fluctuations in the incubator would drive me crazy...so I put a small ball of plastercine or Blu tac on the tip of the temp probe....sorted. temperature holds great..

Hello Sir, I recently got an incubator like the one you are using.
But I've been getting conflicting info for the temperature setting. I live in the hinterland of Guyana, South America which is almost on the equator where the humidity is usually over 70% so I only add very small amounts of water. Daytime temps are always above 80f but the nights get pretty cool.
    Can you help

I sure can help you good Sir. Temps on your incubator should be checked with a digital HUMAN thermometer . You will need to get an ORAL type thermometer and allow the unit to come up to temp. Set the temperature to 37 degrees Celcius to begin with. The book says leave it at the 38, but both of mine run hot. So test, test, test first before putting any eggs in the unit. Put the end of the thermometer through the water hole, angle up toward the mesh bottom. Wait about 2 min, then test. Do that three times in a row to make sure you get a correct number. Also make sure that the Heater is OFF during the testing. You want to wait till it's ran through it's heating cycle then wait a few moments to test. When you reach a temp on the digital human thermometer of 99.5 to 100 degrees F. You're ready. Test many times and adjust till correct. If the nights are cold, leave the packing on the bottom of the unit, and cut the packing from the top back till you can see the controls easily. This will allow it to run much more economically and hold temp better. You may need to carve out the hole area for the water hole area to test with and to add water when needed. Since your Humidity level is high year around, you will most likely only need to keep the humidity around 55% normally and 75% during lock down. 18 days of turning, then last three are lockdown for chicken eggs. I've had great luck with my units and I think anyone can, just take your time and keep an eye on the unit. Make sure that those eggs turn completely from one side to the other as well during the turning phase every 2 hours. One of mine likes to get off cycle sometimes. Pressing the reset button quickly when it gets near to one side will fix it for a couple days though. If you need more info, please reach back out and let me know specifics on your needs. Thanks and have a wonderful day!
