Thanks David. You must check out Guided By Voices! Being such an R.E.M. fan I am sure you are going to like them. Their first albums are very very low-fi but this guy has an incredible ability to write good, catchy melodies. He also writes very fast and GBV would probably benefit from a little more editing/production. Their Best Of is a good starting point.
