This was truly an amazing game for the PS2. Graphics and environmental damage were ahead of its time. This was an unspoken gem and it definitely deserves a comeback. Even if it's just the same game with a new graphics engine
Martinus Angrianto Basically the protagonist (Keller, I think) killed a guy who his up tops were aware of that was a defector that faked his own death to lead a military, they were using that guy as a source of intel for another operation. It's kinda like the way cops use known criminals as rogues and let them off the hook, to get more info about what's going on in the streets from the sidelines, because said criminal is a friendlier face to the underground than a cop. So the guys up top interrogating Keller got pissed and that's where the interrogation came from. The first 80% of the game is the buildup to what happened, and the last part of the game is the explanation of why he's being interrogated.
Martinus Angrianto the beginning sets up the situation of the story and the conversations through the radio pretty much tell the rest. There is a good chunk of info in the cutscenes after each mission too
The small detail with Black is that when you reload when no enemy around, it actually a bit slower than when there's enemy nearby or in a gunfight. I love it, it's like the character actually enjoy reloading the gun.
Not that he enjoys it, it’s realistic. This is the ONLY game i know that actually simulates reloading faster because of danger. Every other game sticks to making you reload slow no matter what, or too fast.

Just a quick correction to this video, the Mac-10 Elite has 2 different sounds, one for it's Silver variant, and one for the Default Black variant, for some reason the Silver sounds suppressed, same goes for Uzi.
Forgot the G36 as well. Default and Silver sound different. Main reason why I kept a regular and Silver weapon profile cause the sounds I didn't like >_

Man black was an amazing game to bad it never really got a lot of love even after it got ported to the Xbox 360. For the people saying it was released for the xbox I am aware of that, it's where I originally played it, but there is an xbox 360 version
I loved this game so much back in the day I actually grinded all the way through 3 times on every difficulty to unlock the platinum guns and the 203 for the M4. Absolutely worth it. Also I love how the MP5 sound effect was literally ripped straight from Die Hard.

I only just played through this game last year and OHHHHHHH MAN was I sleeping on a good one. It's a real contender for "most satisfying standard FPS guns ever." And when I found the P90 a few levels in, my instant reaction was "Yup. I love this game."

You wrong again son,the trigger finger placed front of the grip,also the iron sight should raised a little bit higher,the player does not cocked it after reload,the iron sights are not accurate,the PG-7 warhead is attached with booster and filled with a wings inside to stabilizer the rocket but they are missing,the traces from the booster is invisible,the holes near the warhead does not activate for more boost.
Hard to believe this game was released in 2006. The animations, for the most part, are very detailed and consistent, featuring firemode switching animations and also full magazines with actual rounds on them. Considering these details are often thrown under the rug even when we talk about modern shooters, this game has aged pretty well. In the age of remasters, this one could be given some love once again.
I wouldn't say details like this have been thrown under the rug, since they have been appearing more in triple A titles, and arguably done much better there.

For people wondering why Criterion went unrealistic weapon weapon config like exaggerated mag capacity was to portray action movies weapons because they usually do less weapon reload and keep shooting the weapons till it dry. Unrealistic Weapon models probably their way to express their art direction for this game. Scripted/non scripted destruction were the best of its time, dem gun sounds are heavy and punchy. Fucking animation are smooth for 2006 PS2/XBOX games. Unfortunately, the story was short. Did 100% completion with my dad. Black was his favorite game, btw. So nostalgic.

It was the intention for the game. Waste ammo on every f***** enemy, destroy it all, reload in a cool way, and just keep shooting. One of the best immersive games in the ps2. Some people seems to have never touched this game, or more like they never understood it.
Don't know how a video of a rather obscure and aged game got so many views. Anyway, I remember finishing this game on Black Ops difficulty around 2011 and can remember it fairly well. The requirement to destroy literally every destructable object within each level was the most obnoxious and infuriating thing about it (miss one in the level - need to re-do the whole thing). Furthermore, the last battle (and the ridiculously abrupt ending after it) were awful regardless of difficulty. I ended up just exploding all the armoured/shielded/shotgun-wielding enemies that rush you. I never felt that the game holds up to the original Killzone or even Medal of Honor: Vanguard, though it easily beats more overrated and commonly known titles like the original Red Faction, Red Faction 2 (in most respects, even worse than the first) or the original Timesplitters (I rather dislike all those games). It stacks up more with Cold Winter. Yet the weapon set that this video shows off was probably the best of all PS2 games - that Magnum handgun, or the powerful feel of a shotgun blowing down a door, or those chrome guns at the end of Black Ops completion... those are things that I won't forget.

Used to play this game on my OG Xbox. Such a nice weapon design, game sound, physics, graphic, and visually. Too bad, there's no jumping mechanic feature in this game so this is the downside of the game as well. Anyway, this is still my favourite FPS game beside Halo tho :-)
Completed the black and all its difficulty. Including the Black Ops mode which rewards m16a2. That was when I impaled my foot with a broken glass while still at 6th grade. No regrets.

The pistols are very powerful in this game, I liked to go pistols only when I finished the game and got the silver weapons.
I like the blur effect when you reload the gun.It show that the character is focused on the gun. A great detail that i miss in shooters today

The good ol' days when regeneration wasn't even a thing, and medpacks were precious af.
Especially on first time Hard. No pocketable med packs, only enemy medkit drops, and no silver M16A2 to soften the blow.

I miss when your character would automatically examine your guns when in sitting in idle sucks games no longer do that I would like to see that return for any fps even more with different examine animations at time

and any ultra Die Hard nerd knows that the MP5A3 is actually just a chopped and converted HK94, and thats what they used for this game as well

Ahhhh the memories. 8 years old playing with my step brother trying to beat the game but never made it past the bridge level. This was my very first FPS game i was introduced to before Call of Duty: Finest Hour & became obsessed with Call of Duty

For people wondering why Criterion went unrealistic weapon weapon config like exaggerated mag capacity was to portray action movies weapons because they usually do less weapon reload and keep shooting the weapons till it dry. Unrealistic Weapon models probably their way to express their art direction for this game. Scripted/non scripted destruction were the best of its time, dem gun sounds are heavy and punchy. Fucking animation are smooth for 2006 PS2/XBOX games. Unfortunately, the story was short. Did 100% completion with my dad. Black was his favorite game, btw. So nostalgic.

The best game of our childhood days in the ps2 ❤️❤️ still love guns, the sounds even they put a silencer suppressor optional and destroying building and cars with explosives smart development. The funny part o remember you used to be scared of this game because you start alone.
Man they surely did fuck up some of the guns and animations here. Guess they didn't really research the topic and just went with whatever they found cool.

It was the intention for the game. Waste ammo on every f***** enemy, destroy it all, reload in a cool way, and just keep shooting. One of the best immersive games in the ps2.

Don't know how a video of a rather obscure and aged game got so many views. Anyway, I remember finishing this game on Black Ops difficulty around 2011 and can remember it fairly well. The requirement to destroy literally every destructable object within each level was the most obnoxious and infuriating thing about it (miss one in the level - need to re-do the whole thing). Furthermore, the last battle (and the ridiculously abrupt ending after it) were awful regardless of difficulty. I ended up just exploding all the armoured/shielded/shotgun-wielding enemies that rush you.
I never felt that the game holds up to the original Killzone or even Medal of Honor: Vanguard, though it easily beats more overrated and commonly known titles like the original Red Faction, Red Faction 2 (in most respects, even worse than the first) or the original Timesplitters (I rather dislike all those games). It stacks up more with Cold Winter. Yet the weapon set that this video shows off was probably the best of all PS2 games - that Magnum handgun, or the powerful feel of a shotgun blowing down a door, or those chrome guns at the end of Black Ops completion... those are things that I won't forget.
Best part about this game is firing the RPG sounds so damn satisfying even better with Silver weapon

Used to play this game on my OG Xbox. Such a nice weapon design, game sound, physics, graphic, and visually. Too bad, there's no jumping mechanic feature in this game so this is the downside of the game as well. Anyway, this is still my favourite FPS game beside Halo tho :-)
Completed the black and all its difficulty. Including the Black Ops mode which rewards m16a2. That was when I impaled my foot with a broken glass while still at 6th grade. No regrets.

For an 2000's years game its very good, look the guns have reflection, ambient lightning, and detailed textures for 6'gen consoles, the mistake its not have a PC version

BLACK is the most graphically impressive FPS game on PS2, Killzone 3 took that title on PS3 and well Killzone Mercenary on PSVita aswell.
