    K&M technical support told me not to use K&M cleaner and oil on the Spectre filters. Spectre filters are made from synthetic material, whereas the K&N filters are made of natural fiber materials. K&N says the cleaner will not properly clean the Spectre filters, and once you have applied the oil will result in a loss of air flow.

    I installed a Spectre air intake on my 3.6 liter V6. I believe that I can hear it sucking in air. Am I hearing what I think I am?

    Don't use the oil
    It ruins mass air flow sensors

    • @MattsFinds
      @MattsFinds  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This myth had been proven false many times over from independent researchers and the company stands by its product. Do you honestly think they would still be in business it this was the case. I've been using these products since my teens never had any issues. Sorry it you had an issue but chances are in all reality the maf sensor was already on the last leg hints why you were messing with air intake filters, trying to throw the cheapest fix at it when you really needed a new sensor from the start. I watched my stubborn buddy throw over 200 bucks at his spark plugs, coil packs, new maf sensor etc, whole time it was a bad ground on one of his fuel injectors. That little computer from the auto parts store couldn't pick that up, so he took it to a actual diagnostic shop and within 15minutes had it pinpointed. 50 bucks for the diagnostic and 10 bucks to fix the faulty ground wire. He could have saved $140 and lots of weekend time wasted had he fixed the actual issue instead of just throwing random parts at it. My only advice is if you honestly feel that way dont use the product but I'll continue to.

      Google K&N response to mass air flow sensors. It's a myth. How come they also go bad in vehicles without the product. There's 2 filters I sprayed on my truck still running great at 143k miles

    • @iceman5117
      @iceman5117 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MattsFinds K&Ns response is highly, highly suspect. For one, they have a blatant conflict of interest. Second, their response is in regards to their pre-oiled filters, not regarding those washed and re-oiled by the consumer. Third, their survey methodology is flawed by their own admission. Most of the sensors they looked at were still functional, and their survey of dealerships required the dealer to prove that the maf failure was caused by k&n filter oil specifically, which is an impossible standard to meet without disecting each sensor to it's lowest constituent parts. Dealers don't do this, they find the faulty part, replace it, and throw it out. Finally, we already know that k&n is a superior product to spectre.
      We already know how maf sensors function and how oil reacts on a heated surface. You get coke, which fouls the sensor over time. Coke on the hot wire insulates it, changing the final reading.

      @@iceman5117 ive never had a spectre filter tear, i cant say the same for k&n, the only k&n product i use is their oil filters and even then i toss them at 6-8k [2 oil changes] instead of their alleged “annual change”

  • @shawngarrett9078

    No offence but In beginning you said it's a cold air intake....well actually since they are above the exhaust manifolds that's tech a hot air intake...if you like I can show you an actual cold air intake....but the video is good after that.

    • @MattsFinds
      @MattsFinds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I noticed that also my apologies, I was thinking about my K&N cold air intake on my 96 prelude. I even used to duct tape a funnel and flex pipe at the drag strip by taking out drivers side headlight lol
