You know they’re bad plants when doats won’t eat them 🥲
@@youdontknowme2915A goat with a D
@@youdontknowme2915 goat
Uuuhhh, doats eat poison ivy.
@@genepozniakdoesn’t mean the doats have to like em😆 some eat them when they’re outta their favorite plants and some love em
Doats know what’s bad for them - usually by smell alone. Just imagine that stinging on your tongue. As someone who has ran barefoot through stinging nettle twice before, that would be miserable.
0:52 is not the plant. 1:02 is: the hilariously named, Desert Noseburn (tragia [because, duh, see Maya's reaction!] ramosa). Both the stinging nettle (invasive) and American stinging nettle (native) have wider peppermint-looking leaves.
I got curious so went looking and pulled this from the Texas Parks & Wildlife site:
All Noseburns have this in common: the entire plant - stem, leaves and fruit - is armed with stinging hairs. They’re small, but visible. Turn a leaf sideways to the light, and you’ll see little spikes protruding from both sides. In strong sunlight, the hairs seem to sparkle. That’s because each one is tipped with a tiny crystal of calcium oxalate.
A 1976 study at Texas A&M University took a close look at the stinging mechanism. Viewed with an electron microscope, each hair is seen to be a four-celled structure. Three support cells surround a tall central cell that rises above the leaf’s surface, with a crystal at the tip and a cavity down below that holds a drop of irritating fluid. The crystal works like a spear point: touch the plant and it pierces your skin. The fluid irritant comes right behind it, released by pressure on the bending hair.
Any brush with Noseburn is likely to involve dozens of stinging hairs. You may find noseburn lurking where you kneel to pick a wildflower, or it may assault your toes and ankles as you stroll across a meadow. You may lie down on a grassy hillside to gaze at clouds and find yourself leaping up moments later, wondering if you’ve planted yourself on a fire ant mound.
In my encounters with Noseburn, I’ve experienced a few seconds’ delay between contact and sting. If I’m moving fast, I may be several feet away from the source of trouble before I know I’ve been hit. Fortunately, the sting subsides after a few minutes and does no lasting harm.
Fascinating info, thank you… I wish the stings from the stinging nettle I’ve encountered in Florida only lasted a few minutes. I’ve dealt with that pain for a day or two generally, tried every trick too - including tape/hot water.
It’s actually interesting that some plants developed their own defense mechanism, I wonder if millions of years from now (if we’re still here) if more common plants would develop the same.
@@TitaniumTurbineare you a female too? I’ve been got by noseburn, It’s so mild I barely even know it happened. I can’t believe mayas reaction. I wonder if it’s worse for other people 🤷
@@troyrussell177I’ve had terrible nettle stings with massive welts before
@@drwood728 I’ve had them look terrible , never had them feel terrible though.
Push pop saved Maya's life
Resident Medic always on duty! :D
and made my morning at 3:17 😂
tortoise medic was sooo cute
MEDIC!!!! 🐢💨
at first i was terrified for mayas life, but then i saw Dr PushPop, and i knew in that moment everything would be okay
"You're humid" was crazy lmao 😭
maya has two voices
Matter of fact
and
Baby
Don't forget cartoon boy
Drunk and outraged too
get WELL soon Maya at Alveus.
We got the GEICO Gecko, Jake from State Farm, and now we got Maya at Alveus
I love that push pop roams freely
She should do a plant studying stream next. A more serious reaction to that plant is Allergic Shock
Get your turtle a skateboard.
All of Maya's content is soooooo cozy! The animals make me so happy every time I see them :D
thank god there was a medic on the premises
Has anyone seen that video of the turtle on a mini skateboard chasing a cat and then getting in his face when the cat trys to hide from him? its so funny
Yes! Isn't that turtle the coolest? He chases the cat in his skateboard! lol
I did!
Bad plant bad >:(
3:20 Pushpop is so damnnn cute! 🐢
R.I.P In peace, Maya. 🐢
"You know what I deserve? A Dr. Pepper."
Gurl, get ALL the Dr. Peppers! Getting stung is poopy!
Tf did you just type, get a grip fam.
@@Long-Horse I think their profile pic says enough lmao.
@chuck7024 haha dogshit ai generated art of her face aswell, bet it goes around saying she drew that dogshit.
my first thought was nettle too, usually they have a dox plant just around where they grow, and applying that to the damaged area can be a relief
im thinking its possibly noseburn (Tragia ramosa)
@@rzrazorcore2696i just searched it up, and it really looks like it's nose burn plant, and they are found in United states, so ig that was a really good spot
Wait, really?? That’s interesting. My backyard used to have tons of stinging nettle (Florida). I wouldn’t have even thought there would be a dox plant that could counteract it. Nature is weird sometimes. lol
@@TitaniumTurbine its unknown whether it actually has medicinal properties, helps removes the stingers, or is just a placebo. but it does work in some way, so yes! use the leaves, rub it on stung areas, and enjoy some sort of relief.
the asmr was the highlight of the video, i have 2 of my own and theyre so cute when they eat and u hear the little nibbles😭
might've been a branched noseburn
thats what i was thinking, looks nothing like texas bull nettle, leaves look like noseburn and the pain she described would make sense.
Branched noseburn. It's a type of Tragia.
what would you do in her case to stop the pain/solve the issue?
This is why I don't mess with flora in places I don't know. I've known every kind of plant and mushroom to avoid where I live (Northern Europe) since I was a kid, so seeing one of those immediately sets off a red light in my brain, but those plants that stung Maya didn't even register...
Hi from Florida! Here stinging nettle is common and the plant is not obvious at first unless you know what you’re looking at because it can hide amongst grass/weeds. Once you identify it - well, once you’ve gotten stung rather - you know what to look out for. Even still, there’s various other flora here that can cause problems. Just a few months ago, I ended up at a walk in clinic with at least four different rashes/abrasions/pustules after clearing out foliage around my side yard. It was bad and I still don’t know what plant(s) caused all this.
Doctors had no obvious clue what was going on with me but I was given antibiotics and steroids which seemed to work. Good on you for being proactive!
@@TitaniumTurbine interesting! Seems like you have to treat the plant more like a stinging bug than a typical no-touch plant from where I live. Both hogweed and nettles are pretty hard to miss since they outcompete everything around them.
I can't tell you the amount of times I have stepped on this shit. It's basically impossible to see unless you look straight down the whole time you go anywhere.
Looked like bull nettle but didn't get a close enough look, typically, using the crushed up stem from the plant can alleviate the sting or baking soda and water mixed together.
I can’t believe how Maya had a CONCERNING health situation while at Alveus
Dig it up and salt the earth right there!!!
why? it might still be important for the ecosystem (doubtfully if speaking of that specific tiny plant but not at all if we speak of in general all the plants like that one present there) even if hurtful for her in that moment. also before taking it out it must be identified so that they know for sure they are not alterating significantly the flora there
@@queeng508 I agree with the sentiment but mosquitoes are also part of the ecosystem and slapping one that bit you isn’t going to cause the apocalypse. It’s like killing poison ivy in your yard.
Whatever that plant is it looked equivalent to bee sting
You gotta get an Around-the-neck phone holder. I just got one to film myself painting and crafting and I can't believe how useful it is. I used to make fun of them cuz they were marketed for watching tv on your phone in bed. lol. MUCH better as a mobile tripod.
Someone should make a compilation of all the ASMRs the animals gift us with
Get well soon Maya!
stick a piece of duct tape(the t-rex kind works best because it's stickier) over it and pull it off quick like you would to wax hairs that should pull the little needles out of your skin but after that benadryl and rinse it
the rat content went crazy
5 more of those sting ointment meds are already at the po box FYI :)
You don't find it disgusting when wealthy, influential streamers ask their, likely impoverished viewers for free shit? Really? You just send more free shit? They're not responsible for buying their own stuff with all the free money already thrown at them? You must live a very comfortable life.
@@brynmisk bro its an animal sanctuary
@@brynmisk You honestly sound like you've never been impoverished yourself. There's no need for paternalistic talk like that. Poor people aren't stupid. They know very well that they can't afford doing stuff like this. It's not your responsibility to tell them what they can or can't afford to do. I, personally, wouldn't send anything to a wealthy social media personality, ever. But that's beside the point. What I do think is that if you can afford to send free stuff to people who have more money than they need, you obviously don't pay enough taxes.
@@Nitidus boy, you couldn't be more wrong.
Social media has ruined society
what a wonderful human she is :)
I give medicine to my dog by covering it in peanut butter. She's separated pills from meat before, but she always swallows them when they're covered in peanut butter.
You just need to figure out how much peanut butter each animal prefers. _Bella_ only likes small amounts at a time, while _Mocha_ wants as much as she can get.
And if my cat, _Miss Bêtie_, is around, she likes a little bit too.
She’s about to get so many of those to the PO Box lol
Good thing she had a medic😂
Used to have them go between the toes while moving irrigation pipe
I wonder if Push Pop could eat the stingy plant. If she has stingy defense.
Maya is a such a hard worker! I love it!
Bull Nettles sting like hellfire.
I got stung by nettle when I visited Germany. The pain rivaled what I felt when I walked on a broken ankle
Cute animals i like them
bro boba looks just like my rat tyrone who died in march :( (also if anyone knows how to better litter train rats that would be really helpful cuz mine dont care whatsoever and it's totally rancid)
looks like noseburn. Fascinating plant.
why she'd traumatize that turtle like that... she is measuring how far his leg is
what type of tortoise is push pop?
lol at the sting relievers that don’t work. Whoever came up with that idea and Coyote Peterson advertise them is a marketing genius
Why don't the plants know that she's tryna help them😢
It got no brain 🌱
Thank God push pop is a trained doctor
OH NO
Leaves don't look anything like cow parsnip (aka poison turnip) and supposedly don't sting when small. They sure hurt though.
it looks like branched noseburn (Tragia ramosa)
@@rzrazorcore2696 Good call!
Dr. Pushpop surely will provide the best medical care..
Little pimples come out on your skin as a reaction thower the contact with, from the Nettles and Poison ivy
Its from Resident Evil. 😅
Why don’t you link your Etsy in your video description?
Bad plant, ringworm... Bad news bears

First one looks like bull nettle
what was she doing sitting or lying on the ground in the first place? actual question not sarcastic or snotty

Need Coyote Peterson out there to really test the plants sting zone
Im still concerned, is she going to live?
Hmmm this is indeed CONCERNING perhaps amputation is in the future

Push-Pop to the rescue AGAIN.
We need more push pop

No chat in the edits makes me sad tho

Why does Awa need pain management?
Believed arthritis in one of her ankles I think
Pls dont die Maya
Hai 😀
So seeing Mayas injury, I had that a couple years ago when I was in the woods on my hand and it went away within 30ish minutes.
"Get the F off me PRIMATE!!" rofl btw, Elon can do whatever pleases him, he's trying to save bipedal primates.

The title really scared me, not cool. 😕
Glad it was super minor.
