    just got a base 2021 wrx in rally blue. super excited! JD rates the reliability as 82/100 which is good. most "problems" that people have are from heavy mods and beating the crap out of it and probably extending oil changes to 10k. its a solid car!

      Glad you like it man I wish you luck with the car! I’ve driven a modified and factory WRX, and was blown away by how much smoother it felt from the factory. Thanks for the comment!

      I live in California and it gets hot here. How's the AC? How does the car perform when the AC is on? I read you can feel the car drag when the AC kicks in.

    My son just bought one here in nj at Car Shop. Almost the same car a 2021 Crystal Pearl White WRX Premium. It has everything you stated except this one has halogen head lights instead of the LED's, but I could get a set for him. Getting them in will be a challenge because Honda and Subaru cram everything and make the space tight. The price on that car is a hell of a lot cheaper than what he paid but with Brandon in charge, and demand up, cars are selling for a lot more these days. Luckily I found this for him with only 4,900 miles on the odometer. It is indeed a beautiful car. He loves it.

    Very good review! You catched a good point that the riding quality of 2021 is much improved. I was planning to buy a wrx since 2015. But after test drive of the 2015 wrx, it is unacceptable for me for daily drive. And the most problem is the clunch. That was really heavy. Now it is much better, and I just ordered one today!

    Just bought a 2021 WRX premium block on black and 2nd gear and even 3rd tbh took me a day or 2 to figure out you gotta let the refs drop a little longer than you want to have a smooth shift. If you wanna shift fast you have to mix the clutch shifting to 2nd a little more than you should so it’s comprise.. drive smooth and shift smooth or drive fast and burn your shit out quicker

    Fantastic and very informative video, thank you! Would you happen to know how the stock summer tires would fare in a colder climate/snow state? Will eventually get all-season, but not sure how soon I want to get them, as I just got the car.

    • @WTFCRLT1
      @WTFCRLT1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They should be fine in the winter when it comes to traction compared to most tires, problem is that summer tires get really hard in the winter and wear extremely quickly, that’s why it’s probably a better bet to just get a different set to be safe. I had summer tires on my mustang and I had a winter tire set up for November-February when I lived in Jersey. Thank you for the support and appreciate your comment!

      @@WTFCRLT1 no problem! You’ve earned a subscriber and I’m looking forward to more reviews! I’m in the Seattle area so it might be hit or miss in terms of snow. So I guess I’ll just ride out the Dunlop summer tires for a while before the weather starts getting really shitty haha

    • @drew3018
      @drew3018 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stock summer tires must be changed if you are in a cold climate. Trust me I know. When it gets cold absolutely no traction. It becomes like driving on ball bearings. The safe summer tires temperature range is above 45-degrees Fahrenheit (8 degrees Celsius). Below 45-degrees, performance is dramatically decreased and at temperatures below freezing, things become dangerous.

    To get a smoother second gear shift looks like you gotta be easier on the gas pedal so you don’t have harsh shifts I think? I’m no expert

    • @WTFCRLT1
      @WTFCRLT1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes exactly you just gotta be a little slower with the clutch going into second compared to most cars. They’ll probably address it for the new 2022 model but it’s really not that bad once you get used to it. I’m no expert either but I was getting pretty comfortable towards the end of the video.. thanks for the comment!

    how does car compare with the mazda 3?

    • @WTFCRLT1
      @WTFCRLT1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you’re not looking for a manual, I’d 100% go with the Mazda 3 turbo. It costs about the same price as the WRX premium, while being a more luxurious place to be, with more power, and a conventional 6-speed auto vs a CVT. However, Mazda doesn’t offer the 3 turbo with a manual transmission unfortunately, therefore if you’re looking to prioritize fun over luxury, I’d 100% go with the WRX. Appreciate your comment!

    • @wenyuanqi2518
      @wenyuanqi2518 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He is right. If you don't want manual, Mazda 3 could be a good choice. But Mazda 3 can't have manual and AWD on the same car. If you choose manual, it must be FWD, then I think bit will be less fun.

  • @firstnamelastname3558
    @firstnamelastname3558 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a 2021 WRX premium. The radio sound quality is awful, headlights are terrible, seats barely pass as acceptable, has a weird engine surge that many others experience, and the clutch really sticks on hills with that ridiculous hill assist. Now with that said, it looks decent, does have pretty good power and torque, and is pretty roomy. If you live where winter is a reality, you’re going to have to spring for either good all-season tires, or a full on set of winter wheels.

    • @tomrakusan1179
      @tomrakusan1179 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Upgraded speakers cost $100 and were installed in 30 minutes; the hill assist can be turned off. As for the surge - a tune fixes the ridiculous factory tune. I put in LED headlights - no problem….I got the STI seats for less than $700 - all this done to a base WRX - it is now really good. Should it have come from the factory that way? Yes, but the mods were half the fun.
