You probably do not take compliments easily but clearly scholarship and eloquence and combining it a very clear and artful way. So I learned so much and feel on firmer foundational ground for my life long practice of astrology that goes back to the 1970,s. I feel more curious and humbly competent than ever before so thank you for the great community work you do. I feel on your last points more and more the triplicities of view than the polarities. I can comfortably know have an overview from siderial that infuses my tropical approach. I know embrace whole sign houses as my basic systems but enjoy the nuance of some of the quadrant systems.. yes to the outer lanets rythyms and timing even though they are invisible we now know about them. So from the activity and fixed another mutable birthing can happen

Chris-I can’t tell you how much this lecture meant to me. I am so glad I found it. I am a psychotherapist and founder of the nation’s first LGBT Specialization in Clinical Psychology. I have just DISCOVERED astrology the past two years and your podcasts have helped enormously to inspire and clarify. I myself have become more active in my social media as I seek to return to my publishing life that I had before I became a psychologist for the community. I had a powerful dream last night as I was moving in and out of your lecture about the work and it focused on my learning from a very wise person about astrology. Anyway, I believe I will do a podcast reviewing your lecture here on “The History of Astrology” to honor your work. If I do, I will make sure you get it. I am on substack and will keep you updated. With much respect, Douglas Sadownick

I am SO grateful to you Chris for being such an amazing scholar and great teacher. I would probably not have gotten into astrology if it wasn't for you. Modern astrology never resonated with me, but when I began listening to your podcast it all clicked - I had been looking for traditional astrology all along! I also appreciate that although you have preferences of style, you are so very respectful of all styles and encourage all your students to also be respectful and see value in the differences. We need that so much! I will try to live by your example. Thank you!

Wow! The research and presentation of this content is outstanding.
Wonderful information and truly fascinating. I am new to studying astrology and simultaneously surprised, excited and overwhelmed by the depth and complexity of this ancient language.
As a former and very rigid sceptic, you bring a calm grounded clarity to the industry, and this channel has been huge on my journey so far. Particularly you seem to be a voice of fairness and respect, something that is needed not just in astrology, but in many other areas of life. A synthesis of ancient and modern ways always appeals to me, so this topic really tickles my goat (whatever that means). Massively appreciate your work. Inspired! ✨
    Thank you deeply.

I am an intermediate astrology student at the Faculty of astrological studies in London and no one had made such an extended explanation of what we are studying. it is so interesting how all got together to make what we know now as modern Astrology I do think its very Important to study the ancient readings to fully understand what we are learning now.

This was a wonderful lecture, thank you. Your reminder about humility and respect within the community and the role of astrologers continuing this movement is really quite beautiful. I'm also grateful for the recommendations of where translation is still needed because I'd love to brush up on those skills and take part. I completed graduate studies concentrating on the Near East, mostly working with Greek and Arabic, with Arabic being my stronger language, but I left academia to follow other pursuits. I've been studying astrology for a few years but only recently began diving into the classical works, so this is a good push to have something to work towards. I could never quite fully put away that incredible period and move on, so it's nice to think I might one day have a go at translating again. One last thing -- watching your video was such a warm reminder of grad school (I know, who says that). You explain things with such ease and clarity! Anyhow, again, thank you!

Thank you so much for this episode, utterly enjoyed it and learned a lot. Really helps me to contextualize astrology. I think it is so important to have some sense or idea of the history of astrology, to see the different ways and frameworks people throughout time have used to interpret the world around them, specifically the heavens. Also makes you really appreciate the genius of this long line of astrologers and how cool it is that we still have these records of the past. It's clear from listening to this talk that astrology is not a static thing or system, but rather an approach to divining the heavens and extracting the information we want and need out of it, and that this changes as our culture and understanding of the world changes. So I feel like astrology is more of an art than a science, although it is definitely in a huge and substantial part also the latter.

What brought me to your video is a passage in the Book of Jasher Chapter 8:1-12 (describes eastern sky before sunrise -1952 Feb 17th-27th astronomy program dates). The Book of Enoch has interesting astronomical descriptions and according to Manetho, Panodorus explained that UFO pilots explained how time is kept which supports day (year) 4 of creation in Genesis. Very important history.

First of all I love & appreciate your teachings so much, I love how we as a “collective “ are reLearning our past teachings, to allow us to understand why we are, who we are, & where we are today.
    - to respond about how being able to go online, or an app or what not to pull up “ones birth chart”. This is doing 2 things. (From my experience) either making a person dig deeper into astrology, astronomy, & even going to our own ancestral teachings. 2. ) Other folks, are simply saying “yeah, I got my birth chart I’m a sun, moon, asc...but then they do not know what it means & or do not do the work to understand it.
30 plus years ago when Astrology sparked an interest to myself, stargazing, the moon, moon ceremonies, to reading astrology, spiritual, dream books, but with Astrology focusing on the Zodiac Sun signs, & compatible love matches. So, I see the app users (younger , looking for love still looking at astrology in that way.) where as now, I love the patterns, I can see how things from 71,81,91,2001 all hold similarities. In my life.(and in the world).
We are in a crossroads, a time of change, “A rebirthing of ASTROLOGY “ #ITAstrolology TechnologyAstrology☮️🤍🙌🏽

Also, I didn't realize Mercury rules Astrology. I'd always understood that it was Uranus, Neptune or even Jupiter. Mercury makes sense because of the Hermetic relation.

One question. I’m starting a local astrology group- I’ve put together points from all your videos on house divisions, but I want to ask: do you have an assessment of which house divisions work best in which scenarios? I want to leave room for all understandings but it makes sense that house division techniques are tools with specific applications. In the video on placidus y’all mentioned that solar returns has been empirically established as a practical use for placidus.

Chris, I suggest you get in touch with Nietzsche, Freud, Lacan, Derrida and Deleuze to understand the paradigm of the 20th century in terms of conditions of subjectivity. I get the feelling your methology is archive based in an estructuralistic manner leaving behind the depth of a paradigm. Thema Mundi in the end focuses on the universe in a mammal point of view wether in the 20th century, focusing in aries as the beggining assumes a non human centered point of view, to mention a few great differences that are not cuantificable, like a mere opposite or equivalent table but a jump into another conception. It did not start with the hippies in the usa. Thank you for your engagement.
