I know exactly why that happened- your vehicle was less than 1/64th of an inch off from the track, which makes it unsafe for you to drop.. or at least, that’s the most common reason the ride stops. But luckily, the ride can fix itself- that was the sound at 2:26 *MORE LIKE TOWER OF ERROR AMIRIGHT*
I'll be honest, I don't think that was the issue. Usually if that were to happen, the vehicle would stop instantly, clearly that is not what happened here as the ride continued even when the breakdown spiel was playing. What I think happened was that another vehicle got stuck after (or even during) the drop, and the vehicle this guy was on could not continue, so the plug was pulled (so to say) and the ride was stopped prematurely. After the stuck vehicle was fixed, the ride could continue normally. Just quickly mentioning that sound you heard at 2:26 was not the ride restarting itself. That was most likely the sound of the wheels under the vehicle jumping over the gap between the 5th dimension floor and the floor of the VVC. (All elevators have this gap)
I think my first time on tower, we stopped before the drop. And it took them 30 minutes to get us off of the ride. Still a fun experience to go through the halls and see the behind of the ride. Still hate that the cast members had to break character. Honestly. Yes, It ruins the magic of this ride. But I mean come on, Its freaking amazing seeing it.

This can't happen. The doors stay closed until the drop elevator is present and confirmed aligned, just like a real elevator. If the drop elevator misaligns, ride stop. If the lateral elevator misaligns, ride stop. If the lateral elevator doesn't perfectly match into the drop elevator and "lock in", ride stop. Disney designs their rides to be the safest in the industry, because they have a reputation to uphold.

My family and best friend think I am crazy, but honestly, I would love to break down on the tower of terror. Like when you get into the elevator shaft to begin the drop, but it doesn’t. They wouldn’t come to take us off, but it would take longer for the drop sequence to begin, and you wouldn’t know when it was going to drop. It would be scary, but really fun at the same time.
My guess here is that someone didn't time the three cars properly, or a disabled person needed assistance on the car before yours, so the drop gantry elevator wasn't ready for your car. It's just a guess. If you could hear the elevator running (and screaming) while you waited, maybe that was it, or they didn't want an unboarding and drop car too close.
None of this is correct. The entire system is managed by computers. There is a "parking space" between the drop shaft and unload, so someone slow to exit is not a big deal and won't result in any significant delay, as the next vehicle will just wait at ground level. There are occasional situations where the lift is slow to return but the vehicle just pauses briefly in the dark on the Fifth Dimension. While the lift wasn't ready here, that wouldn't result in the work lights being turned on and that long of a pause. There are a few things that could have happened here but the bottom line is the system is entirely computer run and nothing you listed would cause this set of circumstances.
Usually when this happens it is because the computer that runs the ride detects a fault in one of the many sensors. In another video of a 'breakdown' a maintenance person tells them that it was likely just something small that someone dropped during the drop sequence tripping a sensor.
As much as the mystery of how the heck some of those special effects work has been plaguing me for the past nine years, I'm actually kind of disappointed now that I've seen it in full lighting. The scale is way smaller than I thought, and the (albeit obvious) fact that you aren't in a weird spacey area, but a room like any other just ruins it for me. Hopefully I am not thinking about this the next time I ride it.
Did you ever see Space Mountain with the lights on? It's like seeing how a magician performs a trick; always a risk of spoiling the illusion but I'll still go on!

That part uses magnets to move the car, so it couldn't be stopped but once they reached the end of the 5th dimensions it's possible to stop it

Sorry no. They turned off the lights then we entered the shaft. But still no sound. We were given another ride immediately or a Fast Pass for later.

Do to the way the ride is built maybe someone brought a drink on the ride and some spilled on the tracks Which made the ride stop
