  • My analog Project 2011 continues in the month of May with the YashicaMat EM medium format camera (the "EM" stands for Exposure Meter). Built like a tank the YashicaMat EM shoots 120mm film in a 6X6 square format, and has a 80mm f/3.5 lens with a Copal MXV leaf shutter. It's simply one of the classiest cameras I own.
Here's a link to a video I made about removing the ground glass (focusing screen): flic.kr/p/ajtDse

You've a got great collection of vintage cameras. Have you use or have a Large Format camera and what do you think of it?

Awesome video on the Yashica Mat Em! I just picked up one of these cameras myself today at a flea market for $35! It seems to be in good working order. I was just wondering how much it cost you to replace the ground glass/ Where did you bring it to get it replaced? Also where do you get your film developed, do you know of any cheap send away places?
    Thanks so much!

Just picked up one at an Estate sale, and was wondering where we could find a film role knob located on the upper right side if you are looking at camera standing up. Also we found film in the camera who or what is the place to get it developed?

I only know of one place that might be able to repair or send you the part you need for your camera, it's called KEH (dot com). Also, if your willing to take your camera apart you could buy a broken camera off eBay and start swapping-out parts - I've done that before for other cameras in my collection. Or better yet, just search for the part on eBay.

When it comes to processing film, there's not too many places left locally in most cities. It may still be worth checking your local Walgreens, Target, or Costco to see if they still offer the service. Your best bet is online processing. Try TheDarkRoom (dot com) or Shop.Lomography (dot com) to name a few. Walmart still processes film but the turn-around is about a week.

It does not have a light meter, and has a winding knob film advance.
