  • Bring peace of mind to your backbends with Talia Sutra's The Method: Backbending series on Alo Moves. Try FREE for 2 weeks here: alomov.es/back...
    ABOUT THE SERIES
    This seven-class series will teach you Talia’s 3-step method for safe backbending so you can find more joy in each posture. You’ll experience bliss and happiness as you explore deeper movement with confidence.
    Using the 3-step method, you will:
    Observe and witness your spine as it is right now.
    Initiate movement from top to bottom.
    Hold poses by joyfully expanding the front body.
    This series instructs you through each step of the method, starting with a short, philosophy-based class and followed by a full warm-up for your wrists and back. The method is then applied through four body-area-specific classes: upper/middle back, shoulders, hip flexors, and the entire back core. In a final 60-minute flow class, you’ll apply your new skills using breath and movement to open the front body and safely relax into your backbends.
    Perfect for the yogi who may experience discomfort or fear when backbending, these classes will help you move with more confidence, freedom, and joy. The space you create in your backbends will relieve physical and mental stress by allowing energy to flow freely and promote full-body healing.
    ABOUT TALIA
    Born in Israel, Talia, along with her family, relocated to New York early in her life. Growing up in a structured home environment in the heart of NYC sparked her innate curiosity about life and self discovery. She was first introduced to yoga and meditation at age 6, when her mom integrated these practices into her lifestyle to beat lymphoma. After dropping out of art school, Talia began teaching at Yoga to the People in NYC's East Village in 2010.
    Talia sees nothing as external to her studies: she has learned impeccable skill and technique from masters of ballet, yoga, and art. Equally, she finds sensitivity, intuition, and insight are to be found through connection with the seemingly ordinary world around us and that no teacher is greater than the one within.
    Talia has been traveling the world teaching yoga for the past four years. She recently relocated to Tel Aviv where she lives with her husband Ezra and their newborn son, Akiva. She is excited, humbled, and honored by the opportunity to spread her love of yoga worldwide and is grateful for all her teachers and students.

    This is so much better than "Ilana's Method." Big scam but this is what Ilana Bisonette teaches bur for ridiculously expensive prices per class. Thank you for offering us a way to stay fit and help us open up our bodies in a non-scammy way. Much appreciated.

    I am a student of tae kwon do. We do something very similar called the front stance. We rest the back foot on the inside of the arch of the foot, not on the ball of the toes. Does that change this exercise at all? Will we still be able to get the stretching the hip flexors and quads you are describing?

      Cyd E it’s best to ask your doctor this question

    • @dannac_8888
      @dannac_8888 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chocobunnie is spot on, I would also suggest you visit a manual therapist to determine if all of the scar tissue is flexible and you have great core stability. I knew one person who had 3 hernia surgeries in the same locale due to adhesions being inflexible and it caused the healthy tissue to weaken and open up. Scar tissue is not as flexible as the original tissue for a reason. Some good scar tissue mobility treatment would ensure it will be at it's healthiest when you lengthen it during yoga. As always, your OB-GYN is a must to get clearance, but someone licensed specializing in medical exercise/soft tissue work Physio/PT will verify through tests if your pelvis is in neutral, stable and ready.
      Namaste and congratulations!

    I liked the feeling after finishing this class. I love learning how to deepen my backbends. I have a question though, there was a video recently by Naya Rappaport, that I loved and wanted to repeat. Is it available on your channel anymore or only through the app?

    Amazing class. I enjoyed doing the stretches. But in the last stretch with the leg up the wall when I bend my knee it reaches diagonally towards opposite shoulder and not towards my head. How can I rectify this?

    • @dannac_8888
      @dannac_8888 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      From a musculoskeletal standpoint, it sounds like you have more mobility on the lateral aspect of your hip than on the medial side. You're externally rotating your hip out to the side and I don't know if you have very flexible hips and knees and the ligaments and tendons are too supple, and your inner thigh muscles and the more medial hamstring area (semitendinosus, semimembranosus) is more restricted. Even inside the hip socket you could be much more mobile (deep 6 hip rotators).
      What to do?
      Well from my long distance view, why not get into the pose with a friend, when you're in that position, have your friend gently guide and control your lower leg (calf to foot) so that your foot is in alignment with your same side shoulder. It should be a gentle guidance so that you can see and feel if there's a tightening, limitation or no sensation at all as your friend holds that proper alignment for you.
      Is there no pain or tightening whatsoever? Hmm...you're ready for some Pure Barre classes on demand to strengthen up your entire hip since that indicates your defaulting to the easiest, uncontrolled position. It's flopping around all loose, yes?
      If it feels like they're giving you a stretch on the inside when it's guided, some lengthening on the inner thigh towards your medial hamstrings can be helpful.
      If your leg is this hypermobile, I'd say hip stabilization is key. The Bar Method or Pure Barre on demand will make your yoga practice powerful and stable
      Please take these notes as basic mechanics based on what little you've said. Nutrition, hormones, heredity, injuries, hip integrity (arthritis), etc. all play a crucial role in the proper diagnosis. I've been treating beautiful hips for almost 2 decades. So this isn't my first rodeo. Any state licensed physiotherapist, or PT will be able to verify this in minutes for you and then give you a plan.
      Namaste!
