Stunning man! I just picked up my first Rolex (a SD 43) yesterday. I had just finished picking up my watch, they poured me a glass of champagne. As I set down to enjoy it, two guys were there, also picking up new watches. One was a Sprite the other a Rootbeer. I hung out with them as they each got their watch and bs’d over our champagne. When the guy got his RB, I looked at it and it floored me. Killer watch in person, pics definitely doesn’t do it justice! I felt um a lil underwhelmed after looking back at my sea dweller. Talk about subtle and understated vs his watch. Might have to get on the list for a rootbeer, next! Congrats again
My friend, congrats on obtaining your grail! I feel similarly about the BLNR. Another piece of background to appreciate if you didn't already know: in this international market, the country where something is "made" is often just where it was assembled. By law, timepieces claiming to be made in Switzerland only need to be 60% Swiss origin. Only two manufacturers on the market are completely vertically integrated: Seiko and Rolex. For these two brands every step is in-house from pouring the metal in their foundry to creating gear lubricants. Just one more reason Grand Seiko and Rolex deserve top-shelf distinction in my eyes.
Congratulations. My favorite currently available watch. Got mine early covid. So much more versatile than I would've thought. I wear it with all sorts of attire for all occasions. Always fetches a complement. Enjoy in good health.
I was leaning Pepsi to scratch my Master II itch, but the past few days I've been thinking the Rootbeer makes way more sense. Especially given the fact that two-tone pieces are typically more likely to be offered to mere mortals by the AD. Comparing a Rootbeer at retail price, vs a Pepsi at the inflated market price, the Rootbeer wins hands down. I've seen them in the AD and they are truly stunning in person. I am not a bracelet guy, no matter how hard I try, so to see the rubber strap option shown real life in the video was great. I have had great luck with both Everest and Zealande straps for Rolex, as well as other watches in my collection, so I would urge anyone thinking rubber to look at them (in addition to Rubber B). The thing that won me over with these two strap brands was the closer spacing of the strap holes. I'm a sucker for the perfect fit (hence part of my aversion to most metal bracelets), so having close strap hole spacing is a must. Anytime I do a custom strap, I make sure to elect for 5mm spacing. I picked up on Explorer II earlier this year and the bracelet came off at the AD and has resided in the box every since. I just got back from 2 hectic weeks in Japan and the Explorer II got most of the wrist time on its Zealande (sadly non-integrated) black rubber strap. So comfortable and practical. While Japan is one of the few places left on earth where you can wear a big dollar piece without concern, the black rubber option is definitely a great choice for flying under the radar when travelling to almost anywhere else.
Love it on the Rubber B. It dresses it down beautifully and gives it a real sporty look. *Update:* and as a result of your video, I have now ordered the Rubber B for my own Root Beer :)

Great video. Just got mine this past weekend. Wore it to just the mall and it’s already covered in micro hairline scratches without hitting it on anything. The rose gold and clasp scratch extremely easy. But going to wear it forever so time to get used to it. First week of owning a Rolex is always the hardest 😂
I love that it's your grail piece... so many these days are jaded with having to have something beyond special in order to be satisfied... a two tone Rolex for me is a grail piece, but I have a friend who won't be happy until he has a BLRO white gold Pepsi with a meteorite dial... that is literally the rarest of all the GMT's and basically a unicorn... it's not achievable?

I do not care for the yellow gold two tone watches either for the same reason. The everose gold is not as flashy and kind of subdued. I have only worn mine less than ten times. I went to the AD today to try it on. Was a bit underwhelmed to be honest. Put myself on the list anyway, but you can get them on the grey market for less than retail now by a few thousand now.

As an owner, I’ll catch myself saying it’s understated and I’ll laugh, because it isn’t subtle in the slightest as far as general public is concerned. That said, compared to other TT out there it’s not as loud as I would’ve thought it’d be.

I need to pop back next month to get a link taken out as my wrists were tight that day and i thought I didn't need to.. Its worth the wait and totally worth every moment getting to know your local AD. I love my batman. But the rootbeer is FAR more beautiful. I already have a 2 tone 36mm rolex and a 41mm wimbledon dial in 2 tone rose gold. So I just needed "a stainless sports watch". But my next watch is the rootbeer or a 2 tone daytona. I saw the rootbeer in person... its stunning. Videos never do it justice.
I would absolutely avoid taking that watch into chlorine. Gold gets chewed up with chlorine. It's very bad for it. I have a Batman watch and a Sea-Dweller but my wife wanted to get me a Rolex and I was between the root beer or the 41 mm datejust Wimbledon dial in rose gold with a jubilee band and fluted. I ended up getting the Wimbledon mainly because I needed a dress watch and I already had the Batman and the sea-dweller. But it's absolutely my next watch.
How is someone able to obtain this watch? Well, you work hard and save some coin. Then you walk into a Rolex AD and buy the watch. Oh wait. Two years on a list now and got a call yesterday. They might get one in next week. Am I still interested? Keeping my fingers crossed. The joys of Rolex acquisition.

I had a few two tone Rolex sports models and that contrast eventually became a turn off and dated to me. That's why I traded into something a little more uniform. Either go all steel or all gold imo 💯

I can't bring myself to pay those greedy flippers £2-3k more than Rolex charge for this gorgeous timepiece so with my 19cm wrist I bought the chunkier Tudor version instead. Very nice boutique experience too which for me is all part of buying a luxury watch, not just clicking online, typing in my card details & getting some fat, hairy DPD driver delivering it to my house...what's special about that as an experience?!

A TT Rolex is hardly stealth. However, it is a lot more interesting than say a black sub. Congrats and wear it in good health!

I agree, the gold on the bracelet kind of blends in with the skin color. It’s still a (TT) gold watch, but subtler than one might think
