I found a portable nebulizer on Amazon for $30. I compared it to my Vocal Mist and found the $30 nebulizer to be a superior product. Shop around and save money. Don't make the same $120 vocal mistake that I made.

I already have one. I think it helps. I'm glad I bought it. I suspect it will be invaluable for long-form voiceover work. :-) This is a very good explanation of what you get and how to use it.

Glad to hear! VocalMist is a great addition to a V-O artist's voice care arsenal. For the demands of voiceover work, the cords have to be kept moist to stay healthy. The effect is instant, and there's no warm-up time, so great choice for you!

Thanks for the video. I have been using Alkaline water, gargling this, taking sips every now and then which has provided great relief for my LPR I must say, deactivating the pepsins. However the vocal chorsds, vocal folds are an area I need to somehow target with the Alkaline water, as this is where the majority of my symptoms are! I wanted to check is a throat spray an effective way to do this? How good is it at getting at the back of the throat and touching the vocal folds at least? Thanks!

To explain, nothing you spray or drink gets on your vocal folds. The vocal folds are in your trachea (your windpipe), and you certainly wouldn't want liquids going there! Inhaling steam and especially inhaling nebulized saline would be the only way to put moisture directly onto the vocal folds, as you would be inhaling microscopic particles of water. The VocalMist studies showed that 0.9% sterile saline was the correct fluid to put into the nebulizer; you wouldn't use alkaline drinking water for that purpose. The best way to keep the vocal folds from bathing in acid is to follow an anti-reflux regimen of diet and lifestyle changes, including drinking alkaline water, avoiding high-acid foods like caffeine, sodas, citrus, tomato products, vinegar, alcohol, spicy foods, chocolate, and of course smoking, and avoiding eating within 3 hours of lying down. Your doctor may also recommend appropriate reflux-related medications or supplements.

is vocal mist as "strong" as a medical nebulizer? I'm looking for something that provides a mist deep into the lungs

I have never used a medical nebulizer, but here is an interesting article comparing the 2 types of nebulizers. It's also wise to ask your treating physician. www.aura-medical.com/blog/2019/06/13/portable-nebulizers-vs-tabletop-nebulizers-which-is-best-for-me/

Can I use a conair steamer (but not get to close to it) or Put the sink water to hot and put a towel over my head and breath in the steam?

Yes, you can, but the nebulizer may be more effective.

Thank you for educated review! Could you tell me, is it too hard to disinfect after each use? Because it must be sterile, otherwise you could suck bacteria or something else… I ordered, just wondering. Thank you!

I’ve been using mine over a year without a problem. Follow the manufacturers directions for weekly cleaning. It’s a simple process.

The VocalMist is designed to moisturize the mucous membranes of the respiratory system, including the vocal folds. Other than breaking up congestion and moisturizing those membranes, this would have no direct effect on your little girl's speech problem. Consult a qualified speech-language pathologist in your area.
