I really want to start upholstery, but I’m bad at math and already 27 years old. Have to start somewhere! this video was great to watch! New subscriber ! :)
@@ThatCustomShow thanks for the reply! I have to many questions😂 Let’s start with which machine is best, can you do house furniture and sometimes let’s say boats or cars? Sorry, I’m super new to it all. Super fascinating trade :)
Great video! Could you please give tips on setting the machine up properly to do pleats? I’m getting pleats on the bottom but it’s pretty flat on the top side.. I’m working with leather.
I don't glue the foam, when the cover is done and gets folded for install, the foam glued to the vinyl will sometimes cause permanent wrinkles. I appreciate the advice!
I ordered the sew foam and I love it. The only issue I still have is using a regular sewing machine I can't get the stitches on the top to be all the same. I set the stitch width to the widest because I want to see the sewing. But it starts good then gets less bold then towards the end back to bold how I want it. Any ideas? I'm trying to upholster my sons seats for his 1929 hot rod. Thanks so much,
Can you tell me which sew foam you use? I see there is stitch back, cloth back, scrim backed. Not sure which to use. Thank you and this is the best video I have seen! Oh one other question. Can you use a standard sewing machine on the foam? I've had issues using other foams.
Thank you! I appreciate that very much. The foam I use is pretty dense 1/2" sew foam. I would call it a very tight netting almost on the back if not very thin material. I'm not sure about a standard machine tho, try using the longest thread length and press the foam down in front of the foot to keep it from drawing up. Let me know how it does
That's one of the things I try and go pick up from a supplier, Gulf Fabrics, in Tampa, Florida. Where are you located? miamicorp.com would be able to ship ups
Thanks for making this video. Subbed.
Starting in the middle is a great idea.

Thanks for watching, I appreciate it
Great vid, thanks for the tips. Do you ever glue the foam to the vinyl first? Advantages/disadvantages?

Try loosening the tension a bit , also if you can press the foam down in front of the foot as close as you can it will help, just go slow

Is the sewing machine a Consew 206rb5? If so would you recommend it for auto marine upholstery?
Yes, it's an awesome machine for general upholstery. I love mine, and am planning on getting a new one at some point
@@ThatCustomShow Nice. Just made the investment in one. Waiting for it to be delivered. Then upholstery here I come. Appreciated
Where do you source your pleat foam? I am working on a golfcart bench seat and having a hard time figuring out what to buy where.
