I love apartments in the sims, like it feels realistic to me, but one thing that I hate is that the sims never added the apartment lot type to the basegame, or to city living, so if they ever do a refresh, that would be a great place to start.
but the whole point of city living is apartments. it's as if you were asking for pets to be put into the base game, absolutely reasonable yet not how the sims works

When I discovered that get famous rug I immediately loved it because I’ve always over looked it because of the default swatch, but it’s actually amazing! It’s kind of the best rug in the game because of its design- not only the patterns but the style of rug changes and you piece it together. They should make more rugs like that.
Lol. I've played Sims since the very beginning, off and on through the years (i'm almost 48). The sims actually piqued my interest in 3D characters in general. I finally found a program called Poser and, for many MANY years, happily "played" with my virtual dolls. In fact, that's what that particular community (3D Artists) calls the base figures that we then customise, pose, render, bring into postwork & create beautiful art with. That said, I never once thought to apply the term to the Sims, although it is accurate! As soon as Kayla said it, a light bulb went off in my head. Just wait til my partner hears he's been playing with Virtual Dolls! Knowing him, he'll just laugh and load his game up!
my jaw dropped when you told us about how you made little apartments with books for your lps because i did the same thing!!! only i did mine with video cassette tapes. that’s so cool tho!!!
Me too but with boxes of packages what I remember mostly was my mom yelling saying what is she going to do with all of those boxes it was fun and knowing that she also played with lps is so fun because me too and now she plays the sims and I play the sims so that’s really fun
I made a doll apartment from three cube shaped cubbies in one of those modular shelf things you're supposed to put canvas-covered boxes in, once. The furniture was made of building blocks and other things I found around the house, and since the bottom cube was right near the floor I used it as a garage for the doll's car, which I'd made from Tinkertoys.
Kayla, I love that rug and bed combo in the teens room. Defintaely gonna try it in a build sometime. Also it was kind of funny and totally how it works in sims, trying SO HARD to get that dollhouse to work and then just scrapping the dollhouse entirely.

When it comes to how the Sims built and decorated houses and apartments, most of it is hideous and I always redecorate. I've never tried bulldozing an apartment, except the penthouse because that's easy to place. They need to allow more room to edit apartments like being able to change the doors. One time I had a bad glitch in a game where my Sims apartment door completely disappeared and of course you can't put one in so the only way my Sims could leave was for me to teleport them and I ended up moving them out. They need to fix it where you can replace apartment doors, if for no other reason than a door disappearing. lol. I love the way you decorate places in your game.
i was a big lps kid too! i did have a big doll house though, but because it was so big my lpses didn't fit properly so i would use boxes and steak knives to build my own dollhouses for them. my grandparents used to go to a hardware store like every weekend, so i would go there with them and just stand in the colour swatch section and pick out all the "wallpapers" and flooring i wanted until they came and picked me back up to leave. it was a great time.
simsie your videos have done so so much for me recently i really need something to look forward to every day and this hits the spot. thank you so much for your content and energy.
Speaking of big dollhouses, when I was 6 my dad made me a 7 foot tall, 12 foot wide dollhouse for my 13 American girl dolls. (Yeah, one spoiled 6 year old.) But it's huge, I don't have it in my room anymore but I'm gonna keep it forever.
I always love when you do ‘unlimited’ pack builds. I totally get why you usually limit the amount of packs, and also do just base game, but it’s always so fun to see what you do with the full extent of the game.
I had a friend who lived in an apartment in a small city's downtown and it had no windows at all. There were two doors and a skylight that used to exist but had been boarded over at some point. I couldn't have done it, but he said he didn't mind. It was only for a year.
I love style and colors of this apartament, it's quite unconventonal. Also, What I specificly like in your buildings are small rooms - You always menage to make them feel nice and cosy. I love your building style :D
i remember watching this stream and we were joking around that it was “jake from state farm’s apartment” because she was sponsored by statefarm, and the apartment was red. also i remember everyone in chat like yelling at her to put a pride flag in the pink/green bedroom (:
11:35 omagod kayla !! this is super nostalgic because i had hard cover books on my house and i used to make houses for my dolls with them and YES after that of course i started to play the sims 3 and now 4
if you want to remove the plaque you have to go to live mode, shift-click on the plaque (or any objects you want to delete) and press destroy object. if you want to change apartment windows/doors, you unfortunately have to have the tool mod by tmexi, but if you have it, shift-click & destroy, buy a door/window you want, shift-click again and clock tool cheats, toggle active object (it will turn green), and click on the wall you want your door/window to be on. hope i helped!
absolutely in love with the living room, main bedroom and purple/green room!! it's like each of the rooms were themed around a funky little carpet with really nice contrasting colours, so it allowed everything to look super unique but still tied together:)
Kayla I did the same thing as a kid. I had a bookshelf just for my littlest pet shops and I think I thought of it as a city and I'd build furniture and stuff out of paper for them
I decorated and redecorated and rearranged my Barbie Town House FAR more than I ever played storylines; so it's no wonder I love The Sims. I remember when I was buying Hot Date there was a guy in the aisle and he was saying that he wasn't sure about buying it because his friend pointed out that he was just playing with dolls but on the computer.
I build a foyer or little hallway around the front door! Then I can use whatever door I want as the "front" door. Sometimes I'll put laundry or a trash can in it depending on how much room I'm trying to waste
please don’t feel like you have to apologize for using a lot of content from packs in your builds! building with only base game probably gets pretty repetitive sometimes, and personally, i love seeing what you can do with a wider variety of items. ❤️❤️
I love how you make homes so realistic and livable rather than something incredibly extravagant. I can definitely see myself using something like this in my play style
You can actually delete/replace apartment doors/windows and remove those “undeletable” objects using the T.O.O.L. mod! You can also remove those specific lot traits using the Unlocked Lot Traits & Challenges mod
Oh I love this!! Finally something that uses lots of packs! I purchase all of the packs that come out mainly for the cas and decorating items so I’m excited to see a build that uses different things!
this is SO cute I feel like it's so hard to make bright and colorful builds in this game because the swatches are all so mismatched which makes this one extra fun. if only I had more than like 3 packs lol. oh well, now I have the challenge of trying to make something this cute in my own game!
Many apartments in my city are “alcoves”. They have the layout of a one bedroom but get away with not having a window in the bedroom because the bedroom walls have a gap between the ceiling and the wall and the door is a barn door. I can’t remember if doors function on half walls but this could be a way to make different floor plans??
I was terrified as a child of fire too. I had recurring nightmare that my house caught on fire and I had to rescue my dogs until I was like 12 and I was obsessed with a fire safety video and watched it constantly. I was also terrified to open closed doors in my home incase there was a fire behind them and if I saw a red light reflected in something (like the doorknob) I got absolutely terrified. thankfully i’ve mostly grown out of it but it still haunts me sometimes
You can remove the plaque with tool and it's possible to change the windows and the door with this mod too. hust selcte them and delete. replace with new one ( you can't put them directly on the walls, yo have to place it with bb.move objects in the apartment and move it with tool)
Omg you brought back some memories I used to build what I called “book houses” for my Bratz dolls I would make mansions for them out of books and fully furnish them to😂
I love this apartment! The main room reminds me of a sitcom or something and I just love it! I’m definitely going to download it! I’m pretty sure I have the packs.
Not that I don't enjoy the build videos, because I do, but was wondering when we might see another Nightmare Legacy video? I'm so hooked on that series!
I feel the same about playing dolls and now playing The Sims. This apartment is super cool. I have a little obsession about The Sims so actually I have got almost every single pack, so this apartment is for me :D. I don't have all kits. Maybe this is the time to buy Industrial loft kit. Actually I'm really upset that sectional couch from DHD doesn't have any comfort points, and this from kit has 3 points, so I may buy it. Hava a good day :)
When I was a kid, I had a desk with a hutch on it that had a cabinet on the right and an open shelf on the left and the shelf and the cabinet were tall enough for a Barbie to get in and there was also that much height underneath the cabinet and the shelves. So one kid would have the desk as a Barbie mansion, another kid would have the space underneath the desk for another Barbie abode and then I had a separate actual doll house that a third kid could play in. We'd repurpose all kinds of things to be doll furniture and spent as much time setting up our doll's home as we did playing. And now I play sims.
As someone whose aunt custom made them I giant doll house I gotta say, it’s the best thing in the world when you’re a kid. I still have it, I used it as a bookshelf as a teenager, I’ll probably use it to display my toys when I finally move out of my parents house (I got my pop figures, I collected holiday Barbie’s as well as Scooby Doo toys, and I incredibly regret giving my monster high dolls to my cousins -who didn’t get dolls and were really jealous then promptly sold them in a garage sale-)
This was a beautiful and amazing build. I also used to use hardcover books as houses when I was younger. When you said you used them as apartments, it immediately took me back to my childhood. I totally forgot I used to do that.
Ah, I used that rug in my shell challenge (xsugarycarnival), you toured it on stream and both you and several people in chat said you'd never seen it before! It's cool to see you using it now 🥰
I used to play with Littlest Pet Shops too!! And Bratz Dolls (and Barbie’s briefly when I was a bit younger), so it makes perfect sense that we all ended up in the sims world 🥰🥰
I love your videos and how you bring up points that I wish sims 4 had like changing the windows and doors in apartments. I get what you mean with the non-editable doors being tough, I end up using a dark swatch that looks close enough and work what ever colors with it. Even if you want to do a cool color scheme with the dark brown it still works but it sucks that you might have to alter your design because of that.
Along the lines of littlest pet shops, I had one of those old wooden victorian dollhouses with an open back that a relative gifted me and i would turn it into the "community house" for the petshops of that days storyline lol. I miss the early renditions of pet shops
I'll have to check this out - I think the couch is from the loft kit, which I don't have, but a few kits are all I'm missing at this point so I'm probably safe (I'm one of those "I've collected packs for years" people). Very cute. I loved the books as apartment story, I think we can all say that we never stopped playing with dolls! I don't know if I would have needed my Barbies back in the 80s and 90s if I'd had the Sims though. I love making up my stories but half the fun of The Sims for me is adjusting my story to fit the insanity the game throws at me!
My dad used to get my sisters and I cardboard boxes, scrap fabric, jewels, and more to make our own dollhouses. He worked at a bridal company so it was really nice material. When I’m a mom I’m gonna do the same.
If you're running out of ideas for challenges, may I suggest a new, "but every room is a different color scheme" challenge? I'm just very interested in how it would turn out.
re: downloading apartments, you can also delete a piece of wall and then drag the rest of the wall over the empty slot and the game will recognize it as one room.
Thats what I do when I make an apartment for the gallery, I make the room and where the door will be I delete that piece and put the wall out of the room, add a door and lift it back. When saving the apartment for the gallery I click on an outer wall so you get the whole apartment as one room 🙂I am so pleased to see you telling this to others here.
The part where she talks about how she made houses out of books reminded me of how my sister and i used to make houses for our monster high dolls out of small wooden chairs🥺🥺🥺🥺

We'd repurpose all kinds of things to be doll furniture and spent as much time setting up our doll's home as we did playing. And now I play sims.
I love that weird corner rug, it has some wild ass swatches.
As someone whose aunt custom made them I giant doll house I gotta say, it’s the best thing in the world when you’re a kid. I still have it, I used it as a bookshelf as a teenager, I’ll probably use it to display my toys when I finally move out of my parents house (I got my pop figures, I collected holiday Barbie’s as well as Scooby Doo toys, and I incredibly regret giving my monster high dolls to my cousins -who didn’t get dolls and were really jealous then promptly sold them in a garage sale-)
you can shift click with testingcheats and destroy things like the plaque if you have the twisted mexi extended cheats mod!
It's cool to see you using it now 🥰
I love your smile it makes me happy when ever I have a bad day you make my day keep being happy
I've never, ever, EVER seen that swatch on that round rug! OMG!
I used to play with Littlest Pet Shops too!! And Bratz Dolls (and Barbie’s briefly when I was a bit younger), so it makes perfect sense that we all ended up in the sims world 🥰🥰
I didn't realize that you didn't have millions of subscribers, your the most famous Sims creator, thats insane your deserve millions
Apartments are so good! Like, the only downside are the things you can’t remove, and the sTuPiD HuGe WaLlS.
I am so happy you didn’t limit yourself with packs ! Please keep doing they from time to time !
Yes, both builds with basegame/ few packs and builds were you can unleash your creativity with all packs, both is great
i love these videos so much! building videos or challenges are the best love you kayla
I’ve been following you for years and this is for sure my fav build by you so far, it’s amazing😭🙏
Just the idea of a fear of fire makes the spontaneas combusting toilet pretty funny 😂❤
I used to do the same with my mom's library!! It was never a surprise that I loved building homes
Along the lines of littlest pet shops, I had one of those old wooden victorian dollhouses with an open back that a relative gifted me and i would turn it into the "community house" for the petshops of that days storyline lol. I miss the early renditions of pet shops
Littlest Pet Shop was the BEST, hella throwback there
How much you said doll house in the kids room is just to funny!😂😂
I'm so glad to see Kayla using more packs in her build!
Fact: people who had littlest pet shops as kids, now play the sims
This apartment gives me the vibe that the person who lives there is a fire fighter, which is funny because she talked about being afraid of fire
If you're running out of ideas for challenges, may I suggest a new, "but every room is a different color scheme" challenge? I'm just very interested in how it would turn out.
pink and green is my favorite color combination so I'm screaming over that room
re: downloading apartments, you can also delete a piece of wall and then drag the rest of the wall over the empty slot and the game will recognize it as one room.
7:32 IMMEDIATELY after Kayla mentions her fear of fire I got an ad zoomed in on a bonfire XD
Every single video there is something you say that we have in common, my biggest fear is fire. It’s so weird the amount of things you’ve said that I’ve been like “me too??” It’s strange. But that’s a huge reason why I love your videos sm lol
