- Finally I get the chance to review Suzuki's hottest hatchback. The 1.4L turbocharged Swift Sport. And surprisingly, it was really rather excellent!

I can't believe they managed to take out 100kg, added way more torque. No wonder its so quick.
It's blistering
I drove a near new Swift Sport a long time ago, it was a manual non turbo and it was a lot of fun, this looks pretty damn good and 6.2 secs to 100 isnt hanging around that is better than I would have thought this car can manage!
Keep the great reviews coming!
Thanks man and yeah they’re really great cars
@KiwiCarLife was it drag tested down hill?
@@lukemothug3744 nope
@jbwangxyz Maybe the owner has really good set of tyres?... or Mr Kiwicarlife's numbers are a bit controversial I think he should make another video with him in a Suzuki swift sport actually doing the drag time.
The only way it could have got 6.2 would be going down a hill, 7.1 is the real figure on a good flat road. The SSS has been dyno at 127 whp , so the engine HP is closer to 155HP.
I love the manual version. One of the best urban compact out there.
Yeah would have loved to drive a manual version
Just been wondering about these and voila!..up pops your video.Brilliant.
Haha good timing
Manual would've been the one to review, it completely changes the character of the car
definitely, light fwd, 6sp man. = 90s hot hatch
Yeah I imagine
oh my god . I was exacly waiting for this car review from you .But honestly i was waiting for manuel one . Thanks a lot man. Love you from North Cyprus.
Got there eventually! Just had to work with the car I had unfortunately. Manual would have been awesome aye
Wish you had a manual one to review. I was selling new Suzukis in Wellington not long ago and the manual is incredibly good! I would rave to people that a manual Swift Sport is the most fun car you can buy in NZ under $40k
Yeah maybe the best fun new car for 40k or less. There’s a lot of used options that are much better
Do a mazda cx-3 review. i reckon you'd be pleasantly suprised haha
I've driven a couple, feel like an old car now with N/A engine
Do a mk5 Golf R32 VS 130i vid!
It’s coming!
Great review. Makes me want to drive one! Is the 260km/h speedo really necessary though?
Yeah I reckon it would get close!
They top out at 210, but you could probably get 230-240 out of them with modifications (or going downhill) so it's not unnecessary either.
_wow, it really revs cleanly through that auto, surprising little package_ .. 👏🏼 _cool review_
Thanks man and yeah nah it goes well
Mum had a 7.5 golf R and sold it for this model. Gotta say the suspension is allot harder on the golf, That's with it in comfort mode. The swift also felt way more solid and dialled as well, and was way more flickable around corners as well as having quicker engine response, due to it being only 1000 kg. The only annoying thing is the the auto downshifts in manual mode as you showed.
Yeah agree!
Ok mate..so you can obviously read my mind because my mum owns one of these in auto and wants to sell it to me and put Monster Sport bits on it. Would you say this or a CL7R drives and feels better? Im stuck between both😅 Ive been thinking about bringing a CL7 back to Oz when i go to Japan in October but theyre almost 30k AUD for a decent one now on road❤️ Thoughts? I already own a CL9 but auto
Drive both and decide what you like more
Sell it and get a manual one. It's a much lighter car and is much much faster on track/touge runs vs cl7r.
Will this sport version last? I mean, the NA 1.2 engine is known for its durability, but the sport variant comes with a turbocharged engine and direct fuel injection.
These turbo engines seem to be really solid
They actually put out more like 155 hp from the factory, which is part of why they're so quick. Suzuki rates them at 8 seconds to 100 kph, but reviewers have always been getting 7 seconds or better. Very underrated car. Impressive.
Interesting yeah it feels a lot quicker than 103 kW
@@KiwiCarLife They are fantastic tuner cars. With just bolt ons and a remap, you can get around 190 hp and 300 nm, with the factory turbo and great fuel economy. That would be seriously quick with an LSD.
The earlier ones were pretty dam ugly but this one actually looks quite nice. This could be a very fun Mini cooper ( or Polo GTI ) competitor if it had a LSD and a 6 speed manual
Yeah for sure man
Suzuki делают отличные машины!
Планирую такую к покупке!
Yes
The modern Starlet GT
Kinda
Might be a stage 1 tune considering its doing 6.2 to 100kph unless you were testing going downhill otherwise 6.8-7 seconds stock.
Nah it’s stock
@@KiwiCarLife th-cam.com/video/hXdXSB19QfY/w-d-xo.html must be detuned!
There's a YT Channel in Australia called PDriveTV and they're tested this Gen Model around 3times they have only Managed 0-100kph in 7.0 for the Auto and 7.3 with the manual.
@lukemothug3744 I have no idea how he timed a stock one doing 6.2 seconds, found a few stage 2 full bolt ons/turboback exhaust and tune only doing 0-100km 6.4-6.7 seconds and 14.5-14.8 seconds 1/4 mile
@@lukemothug3744 Suzuki Swift Sport Stage 3 Draggy Test th-cam.com/video/5_dVuLAfjvE/w-d-xo.html
6.2sec to 100kph? Thats nearly the same as a 320hp 2023 Tesla Model 3 nooiicee 👍
Haha yeah it’s insanely quick
Surely 6.2 is reaching… seems rather fast as a low 6 0-100 is in golf gti and fiesta/focus st territory.
The car only weighs 990kg. Golf is 1400. Makes all the difference. It's really fast man.
Review the Mazda RX8
Need to find someone who owns one haha
Swift and Sport are two opposite terms, this car barely makes 80 horses, which is considerably lesser than even a Speed Twin (considering the power to weight difference between the two). Maybe if Suzuki provided the NZ Sport Now (something) subscription with this car, then it could be called a Suzuki Swift Sport, other than that it's not justifiable.
What it makes 140hp and 230Nm. It’s very sporty and deserves the name. Will keep up with GTi’s
@@KiwiCarLife Reilly? Those are pretty awesome numbers for a hatchback 140bhp and 230Nm
This is considerably more powerful than the shitbox Marutis they sell to the Indians.
@@JaneDoe-ft7ln Can't seem to avoid the likes of u tho, specially on the foreign channels.
🤙 Do toyota Levin Ae111
Maybe
Too bad it's a DI engine, if it was port injected i'd give it a serious look. But 6.2 is nothing to sneeze at. I bet the 1.6 can do something similar with the 6speed manual.
That said, 990KG, that means no sound proofing, cheap plastics as you said. If you've already driven something like a CL9/CL7 that has to feel like a massive downgrade in ride quality.
Oh DI’s not that bad… and yeah it’s quite noisy and rides hard but I don’t mind in a car like that. It’s fun
Hey Mate - Question- what would your ultimate car to review be? Obtainable car- as in not a mclaren type hahah
Probably a BMW Z4M or S2000
Bro im about to buy a 2023 Kona N performance brand new. Review one bro!? 😂
Yeah could be keen to review yours if you’re in NZ haha
